I can make a pretty evil pally/leader figure...

.... but is this a freeform game, or is system undecided, or....

Oh man, I am SOOO interested!  ;D

Can I petition to change the name to "Evil, Inc.", though?  8)

My character concept is going to be based off a recurring dream I have where I'm a disembodied telekinetic who gets by through "stealing" the bodies of others. In the dream the only "powers" I remember having are being able to hurl and lift things via Telekinesis, possess others, and fly (by lifting myself telekinetically). So... I'll probably play a savage progression ghost of some kind.  ;D

I'd like to add some battlefield control to it somehow, like the ability to Control Winds, use Wind Wall, etc (which would basically be telekinetically manipulating the air). So I'll have to figure out how to build that.

Hmm... would you allow some version of the Storm Lord? That would be almost perfect... Feel free to nerf the direct damage stuff, as long as I still have some control winds types of abilities...

Finally a game is open that I wish to join! I am very confused by the criteria, so I'll hold my horses until we get some more detail or character generation.

Also very interested, but would be nice to have clearer creation rules.

So here's the deal.  This is a PbP adaptation of a convention game I've run several times.  The rules for that were literally "bring your favorite character".  What's the character you always wanted to play?  I want to make that happen, including playing something from another system, or your favorite character based on literature.  I've had characters from Star Wars d20, Champions, Rifts, White Wolf, D&D 1, 2, & 3, etc., and everyone had a great time.

If you really want some D&D 3.5 generation guidelines, here you go (though don't feel super bound by them):
  • Experience -- 9th to 14th level
  • Stats -- 50 point buy, alternate requests honored with justification
  • Wealth -- Standard WBL, custom items, oddball requests honored with justification (like, say, if you are playing Gambit with a DoMT)
  • Classes -- Any.
  • Alignment -- Lawful Evil or equivalent.  The only constraint is that your character must play well with others of a similar mindset (no intra-party conflict).

Yes, this is a high-powered game, and I realize that some people aren't really comfortable in that setting.  However... you're going to need all the help you can get.

EDIT: I just wanted to say that the way to go about this is not to start with "what are the chargen guidelines", it's to start with "what's my favorite character", and we'll work to realize him/her/it.  It's possible that it will be the character that no one else would let you play.

Is it required to be a level-based system?
A smile from ear to ear
3.5 is disappointingly flawed.

I have an idea but I wouldn't know how to get it up and running...

A raw, primal, wild manifester and powerful brawler.

I was thinking something along the lines of Totemist/Psion/Soul Manifester/Black Blood Cultist... Dunno.

Alternatively...

PsiRogue 5/Mountebank 3/Charlatan 5 as a grand con-master.

 :)

Believe.

Well, I have some ideas for the first, but you'd like to run with the 2nd then be my guest.

If you're going totemist/soul manifester/black blood cultist then I have to direct you toward my grappling handbook.  It may not be the way you want to go, but how could I possibly not suggest it?  :)

Wilder sounds more "primal" then psion, personally.

I'm trying to think if you could implement mutants and masterminds into this game, or if it would be a huuuuge hastle....

Since M&M would be the best way of doing a sort of Wesker charrie; my immediate thought was to be the Master, but I've got a super-knowledge wizard in another game that used him as a premise. Other than that, I'm thinking.... best villain ever....

So, there I was last night, thinking to myself: Hrmmm, maybe I should try a Play-by-Post at some point.

Then, today, this thread comes up.  And I ask myself: But what sort of evil character would you play?

Then it hit me.

"My name is Skellum, and I wear a silly hat."

Psion 5 (shaper) / Constructor 1 / Ectopic Adept 5 / Constructor +3

(In case Skellum is not known, here's a wiki entry on him.  More to the point, imagine the fluff of this class, combined with a calm, rational, and always slightly amused middle-aged man.)

...actually, now that I've dug out the dementist...I'm going to have to think about which way to build him.

“Hast thou not felt in forest gloom, as gloaming falls on dark-some dells, when comes a whisper, hum and hiss; savage growling sounds a-near, dazzling flashes around thee flicker, whirring waxes and fills thine ears: has thou not felt then grisly horrors that grip thee and hold thee?”

It should be doable.  No reason it would be harder than Champions or Mechwarrior, right?

Well, hopefully so. I assume everybody uses the dnd point system for the point buy? For succintness? How the hell is that spelled?

Also, in between 9 ans 14 is..... broad. I'll shoot for my favorite number and take an 11. Hopefully everyone's power level will be about the same...

Also, I'll just use the most recent (3e) M&M rules, since they balanced out the powers a little. I broke the 2e accidentally....

Don't worry too much about relative power level between the PCs.  Play the build you want to play.

What's the point-buy system in M&M?  Is there an analog that we could work with?

It's still the six basic, though I think this is something that should be brought up. you have a point pool with which to buy everything from skill ranks to powers to abilities. Stats start at 10, but can be lowered on a point-for-point basis to get more points, and you can feed points in at the same rate to raise them. Though I wont object, giving me a separate point buy of 50 is like giving me 50 extra points that I don't have to spend on abilities. One reason why starting below 14 (the points you would gain between 11 ans 14 is actually a 45 point difference, so there's that) is probably a good idea for me; it also limits my powers.

Have you given M&M a read-through? Cause as I build this, and realize that with the lack of hp and a totally different dc system.... well, I've never played white wolf, so maybe the conversion is easy. I'll have a sheet up soon.

This sounds... ambitious. Are the characters going to be drawn from different realities IC?

I'm just curious what a fight between a GURPS character and a Risus character would look like. :p While both are driving vehicles in a storm.

I have not read M&M, but I'll get my hands on a copy ASAP, and until then I leave it up to your expertise.  Like I said, I ran this once with 3 liches, a mechwarrior Salamander, and a Champions anthropomorphic weasel.

And yes, IC they come from where they come from.
