Drifting in the outer reaches of space, the Resurgence and her crew has been your hosts after the rescue of the Imperial Admiral Gilder Varth from a Felucian prison. After a few days, you are called to the ship's main briefing room.

Upon arrival, you see Gilder Varth awaits you, now dressed in the uniform of an Alderaanian ship officer. At his side a silver and yellow astromech whirs away as it interfaces with the computer console at the center conference table. He indicates for you all to take a seat. Again even the needs of a Sluissi to sit comfortably have been anticipated.

Corran flops down in a chair next to the curving chair intended for his serpentine friend. Rald flanks the otherside and seats himself, datapad on to take notes.

As soon as everyone is comfortable, the holo-projector springs to life, and the blue-tinted hologram of a Hutt appears to hover a few inches away from the projector’s three curved prongs. With a brusque clearing of his throat, former Imperial officer Gilder Varth rises and begins to pace the floor while he speaks, wasting little time on pleasantries.

“Before the Empire decided my conscience was a liability,” he says, “I was involved peripherally in a top-secret plan known as the Sarlacc Project. While the details of the project are unknown to me, I was involved in the transfer of large sums of credits and resources to the project. Whatever the project entails, it is taking up a lot of the Empire’s time and effort. Moreover, I believe that this Sarlacc Project is destroying the lives of thousands of sentient beings; casualty reports crossed my desk on a regular basis."

After a brief pause he continnues, “Unfortunately, I don’t know much more than that. However, during my brief brushes with the project, I discovered that the Imperial Navy was hiding the program’s existence from the Senate by transferring resources through secondary sources. Resources were routed through the Corporate Sector, through fake contractors, and through the criminal underworld to keep a trail from leading back to the project.

One such secondary source was a Hutt crime lord named Darga. Like all Hutts, Darga is a slimy gangster whose love of credits is exceeded only by his love of power. Part of my job involved transferring resources to Darga, and in turn arranging for Imperial agents to take control of other resources from the Hutt’s organization. These were not simply transfers of credits. The items being traded were not specified, but physical resources were definitely being exchanged. Though it’s not much, this is the only lead we have.

Captain Verana has charged me with helping to uncover more about the Sarlacc Project, and he has authorized me to use you as my agents. We need to find Darga the Hutt and see if you can learn what he is trading in and how it relates to the Sarlacc Project. Do you have any questions so far?" he pauses to allow you time to digest whats been presented and to ask questions.

Silten does have a question.

"Would the project's name be a hint about its purpose?"

Rald brings up information on his data pad about what a Sarlaac is and shows Corran and Silten, "Do you think they are cloning these on a massive scale?"

After reading a bit, Corran says, "Yeah, and the "physical resources" mentioned are being fed to them all."

"Anything is possible. As I said we do not know anything about the end goal of the project though many projects for the Imperial government have outlandish names." Varth answers.

"You don't seem to know very much here for us to work with. How are we supposed to find this Hutt? Is there any leads you can give us?" Corran asks.

Varth gives the Corellian a hard stare, "There is something, I am not certain how much it will help us in locating this Hutt. During the Clone War, Darga broke with most of the Cartel and worked closely with the Separatists. He was given enough resources to raise a privateering fleet that prayed on shipping lanes and outlying settlements of the now collapsed republic." he turns back toward the hologram of the hutt and continues "Darga profited not only from the plunder but we also found that he was selling captured prisoners to Zygarrian slavers. When the Zygarrian slave market was put down during the war it led us to Darga's fleet. I was aboard one of the ships that attacked his location."

The image on the holo projector shift to a Lucrehulk class star ship. "This is the Star Worm, Darga's capital ship in his fleet. It was destroyed during the battle. Darga fled and went underground since. The coordinates of the battle are being uploaded to your personal devices. Large pieces of ships destroyed in battle still float in space. If one of the Star Worm's computers is still in tact we might glean some information on where Darga may have escaped to."

"So and underground Hutt and the location of a battle where a destroyed ship has floated away from is all we can go on?"

"I think we may know of a certain droid that is good with information that may have come across more. Do you think we should reach out to Switch?" Rald says quietly to Silten.

"How much does the job pay?" Corran asks.

"Captain Verana has authorized me to pay each of you a modest some in exchange for your efforts. If we are right, this could strike a large blow to the Empire. If there are no further questions then you are dismissed, you may continue to use the Resurgence's resources to begin your search."

Rald looks to you both. "Can you two work on reaching out to Switch? Monitoring on my bothan patient shows he should be waking from his coma soon." During your time on the Resugence, Rald has drove right into working int he Resurgence's medical bay and has made himself right at home.

He walks up to the former Admiral and you overhear as you are leaving, "Well most of your color has returned, but you still to rest; and eat, your weight still has not returned to it's normal levels."

You both enter Corran's quarters, and after setting up a secure enough connection. The image of the protocol droid turned information broker flickers to life in front of you. "Ah, good evening. It has been exactly twenty nine standard days, twenty hours, thirty six minutes, and twenty 4 seconds since we last spoke. That qualifies for an "it's been a long time". I hope future communications between us happen more regularly, or our original deal may be in danger of being void."

The droid seems to wait either for an exchange of pleasantries or an excuse as to why you have not contacted him sooner, it is hard to tell with this unpredictable budding crime lord.

Silten does neither and instead gives a short explanation of the new information that they've learned.  He then asks if Switch has heard anything about the project or the possible location of Star Worm's computers.
Title: Re: A Wretched Hive (Game Thread)
Post by: Melblen_Cairn on September 12, 2016, 08:45:14 AM
"That is interesting, and explains what really happened compared to the rumors I have been hearing about a terrorist attack on a remote corporate research facility on the planet Felucia." the droid muses for a moment. "There are many rumored secret projects of the Empire, none called the Sarlaac Project. These have all been, thus far, started by unreliable conspiracy theorists, the same ones that indicate the Emperor is a Sith or a puppet of an ancient alien technological intelligence. This would be the first solid lead that there are projects being hidden from the Senate and their oversight committees."

He continues to speak, but you can tell the droid is puzzling through a million outcomes at once. "The name Darga, has not come up since the Clone Wars. He has done well to hide himself, I thought he was dead. I too have been searching for the Star Worm's wreckage. I have a vested interest in it. One of the colonies that Darga's pirates raided contained the research facility of a now defunct corporation that worked on advanced droid technology.

Some of it may have survived the ship's destruction. One piece that I am particularly interested in, is a prototype taste simulator unit." You remember on your last visit to the droid over Brentaal, the droids massive collection of spirits from around the galaxy and can guess why he would desire such an upgrade.

"I have recently traded some information with a smuggler, who happened upon a derelict section of Lucre-hulk class ship. My assumption was this could be the Star Worm, but with your coordinates of the battle it is now more than plausible." the droid seems positively giddy at this point, "You must find this wreckage. I will pay you 2,500 credits and fifteen percent of the sale of any salvage you bring back. Bring me back the Simulator and you may keep the all the profits from the sale of the salvage. If we have a deal, I will send you the coordinates the smuggler Vordell traded to me."

"I musst speak with my companionss," Silten says in response.  He then quickly relays the proposed deal to the rest of his team.

Coming out of an ajoining room with a small bag packed with his personal belongings, Corran listens to Silten bring him up to speed on the offer. "Surely if the cargo means that much to you Switch I think 4000 credits is more worth our time here.

"Ah but you also need my coordinates to find the Star Worm for you purposes, and I can find anyone to salvage the wreck for me. I remind you that you did agree to work for me." his vocabulator switches to a recording of the conversation and plays back each agreement in order to reduce the price of the information they were looking for previous. "Consider me offering to pay you, a professional courtesy."

"Oh well then Thank you Switch. Lets atleast talk about the pultry fifteen percent on the salvage. We don't even know if your Simulator survived. Its a good bet it didn't so we would like a better cut. Twenty five percent is better.

"It is better, but not what I am offering you. It costs money to fence CIS salvaged parts these days, especially if it is military grade hardware. There are certain steps one must go through and lots of officials to bribe. Fifteen will suffice for you."

Corran shrugs at Silten, "Well I tried. Guess we take it. We need the information."

"Splendid. Transmitting the coordinates. You would do well to hurry along. Vordell is not one to sell information to just one source. I would imagine there would be a number of interested parties in salvaging the wreckage." Switch adds at the end as the holo winks out.

"Well, looks like we need to secure a ship to handle this salvage run. Not sure the Banshee can handle the cargo but I will talk with Sirona. Probably best if you collected your droid from Rald and let him know when we are departing. He is getting pretty cozy here with being a legitimate doctor again. Even odds he is staying aboard here. Would you signal my comm when your ready to meet up to leave?"

Silten nods again, "Of coursse."  He then goes off in search of the doctor to retrieve his droid.  If a doctor droid is the best they can do then Silten is making sure that it is coming with him.

Silten enters the medical bay of the Resurgence. Much larger and better equipped than what the Banshee has. Along one wall is several tanks of bacta. The bothan you rescued from the Imperial prison facility is no longer contained in one, leading you to believe he has awoken from his coma.

2-1B is working at a computer terminal entering data on a patient. It notices you approach. "Good day Master Silten. Are you feeling ill today or injured in any way? You do not usually come to the Medical Bay. Master Rald is in with our bothan patient, he recently awoke from his coma."

"Of course Master. First I must let Master Rald know that these records need to be completed by him now in my absence." as the droid leaves to interrupt the doctor. A moment passes and both the droid and Rald return to the room.

"Leaving without saying goodbye?" the khil asks Before you go, I found something interesting with the bothan prisoner we rescued." and bids you join him in his office.

Title: Re: A Wretched Hive (Game Thread)
Post by: Melblen_Cairn on September 21, 2016, 07:38:22 AM
"This." and Rald points to a small round clear container on  his desk no larger than the palm of a hand. Inside is a minute code cylinder. "I found this surgically imbedded in our patient. The Empire likely did not scan him all that well and probably thought it was a cybernetic implant. But I found none of the trapping of cybernetics around it."

Rald removes the lid and lifts the cylinder out with tweezers and connects a small cable that is  hooked up to the desk. The display lists out several sets of numbers. "When our patient awoke from his coma, he has no memories of who he is. A common side affect to certain interrogation methods. Some patients never recover them. Orsk Me'Lya is his name based off the records you retrieved. He has no recollection of what this is, why it was in his body, or what these numbers mean."

"Only cursory searching of public databases so it could not be traced anywhere. I found a few bits. He works in the corporate sector as a buyer for starships. Lived on Coruscant before the war but has traveled across the galaxy since." Rald admits. "Wonder what he did to gain the ire of the Empire."

Searching through the astrogation data, you find it is not in the Resurgence's last dataload or the Banshee's more recent update when it visited a bigger starport. You do locate an old holonews feed for 250 years ago from Salliche.  A woman sits behind a news desk ending a report on a grain blight on the Southern Hemisphere before switching storys;

"...work to find a cure for the blight hampering it's main galactic export. Until then SFE Corp continues to buy out, at a rapid pace, the family farms going under as their crops dry up. In other news the several hundred anti-government protester's have decided to abandon their homes.  Their leaders cite that they will set up a colony on the third planet of recently discovered Whendyll system in the Vadryll Sector to live in a more natural state by what the claim will be their own simpler rules..."

The coordinates you have are within the same sector of space. Usually once a system is uncovered, you would likely find it in a ship's nav data but there is no reference to a Whendyll system either.

"Agreed someone has gone to lengths to keep this place and whatever is on it a secret. May still be worth the trip to check it out." Rald says.

"And I will join you." a voice from behind adds. In the open doorway stands the bothan. Looking weak but defying the need to rest. "I want to know why this was implanted in me."

"That, I won't allow. You need to rest. Your memory may return in time but only if you take care of yourself." Rald moves to intercept Orsk and guide him back to bed.

2-1B enters the office and says to Silten, "I have completed the remaining tasks and I am ready to leave when you are Master."

Upon wrapping up your lose ends, eventually you head for the docking ring where the Banshee waits. You come upon Orsk, leaning casually on the door to the airlock. As if answering your questioning stare,

"I gave the good doctor the slip, he thinks I am sleeping. By the time he realizes I am gone, we will be away from here. Look, I don't remember anything, I need to find out what all this means and hopefully make sense of it all. Or at least take control of something."

"Alright. I always liked exploring new systems. Crash please plot a Hyperspace route." the Captain asks her droid.

As the hyperdrive ramps up, the ship enters the blue tunnel of hyperspace.

"Well should be two days to these coordinates. Make yourselves comfortable."

The time seems to crawl by in anticipation of the unknown. Orsk is often found pacing like a caged animal. You all try to occupy your time as best you can and eventually you all hear the alarm from the cockpit indicating you are coming up on your destination.

"We are coming up on the coordinates."

As the ship emerges from Hyperspace a star lies ahead in the midst of seven planets.

"So there is a system here. Coordinates would likely be in the path of the third planet." Corran states.

The Banshee approaches the third planet, gently entering its atmosphere. Large swaths of lands and seas are below.

"Setting our course for the planetary coordinates." the captain indicates.

"No technological or power source readings on the scanners. I am picking up many life sign readings from the jungles and sees below." Crash says as the ship travels to a central tropical area of the planet. The banshee flies over an inner see surrounded by mountainous jungle terrain and then along it's coast. You are still a few minutes from the coordinates but see just ahead smoke rising from a spot closer on the coast.

"We aren't at the planetary coordinates yet, but we can do a flyby and check it out." Sirona says and as the Banshee closes she swings the ship so your facing the shoreline and keeps her moving laterally along. The move reveals a small village, most burnt to the ground, with smoking stone shells remaining. A few bodies lay strewn about.

"I think we found the colony you mentioned from that holonews clip." mentions to Silten as the look upon the carnage."Too bad we were a cycle late and a credit short to help these folks. Should we drop 2-1B to look for survivors?"

The Captain brings the banshee in low, the ramp just touching the sandy beach, allowing the medical droid to disembark. Then she pulls back on the controls and lifts off again once the droid is clear. The Banhsee rockets down the coast toward the coordinates.

After a few minutes and miles of  coastline whipping past, you come to the spot. The beach and jungle at the spot look just like the the miles that have gone past.

"Your coordinates should be just a few steps into the forest." the Captain says as she puts the Banshee down on the sand. "I can't stay on the beach here, she'll sink into the sand. I'll circle back to where 2-1B is and put her down there. There's more beach to land on there. Let me know when you need a pickup."

Silten nods again.  "Yess, I can take care of mysself better than it can."  He then addresses the Orsk and Corran, "Will you be joining me or sstaying with the sshhip?"

Once the teams have been sorted out he slithers down the ramp and draws his blaster pistol, realizing that he's actually in charge and trying to figure out how that happened.

"Wouldn't miss it buddy." Corran says and follows Silten down the ramp with his weapon drawn.

"This is the whole reason I am here. I hope whatever we find will trigger something." the bothan steps lightly in behind the two of you as you cross the beach to the jungle beyond.

Even after just a few paces in, the jungle thickens. The effort to move just a few feet takes several minutes. As you are nearly on top of the coordinates, you reach a canopied clearing slowly being reclaimed by the surround flora. At its center, covered in vines and brush is an ancient looking starship.

They do approach with Silten, but Corran walks around the ship the other direction admiring it.

Orsk stays close to Silten studying the ships details and says, "There is an input pad near where the ramp descends for putting in a passcode for instances that the ship is completely unpowered." After the words leave his mouth a look of shock descends over his face and he stops in his tracks.

Silten almost barges into the ship without thinking to analyze this technological find and see what can be scavenged but then remembers that they're on a mission and this place is a little more important than it appears.

Calling out for Corran, he waits a second and then if he doesn't hear a response Silten will go after his companion before exploring the ship.

Corran comes over to the ramp. "Wow, I remember seeing one of these in a museum back on Corellia." the human says, lost in memory of his home for a moment. "Dynamic class. These are thousands of years old. Looking at her, she was blown apart and put back together a couple times too."

"Do you suppose she will fly?" he asks hopefully.

Silten shrugs, a habit he's picked up from humans.  "Ssomething thiss old...you never know.  If not, there'ss ssalvage here."

He then pulls a flashlight out of his toolkit and slithers up the ramp, trying to get a look inside before actually going on there.

Silten grabs a powered prybar from his toolkit and works the door open. Light shines into what was likely a main crew area. A spot in the center has an empty mount for a holoprojector. Nerf Leather seating is old and cracking. The floor grates are rusting through and could cause someone to step through one. Ahead is a small corridor leading off to the rest of the ship. There are also three doors, one on the back wall, the other two are next to each other on the opposite side.

Silten takes a look under several of the cockpits terminals and eventually finds a disconnected series of power cables. Quickly re-wiring them, the base power to the ship's cockpit flares to life.

Corran excitedly hops into one of the pilot seats to check the status of the rest of the ship's systems.

"Your not going to believe this buddy, but I think this thing may actually be capable of flying still. Shall we fire her up and see if we can make it to the Banshee?"

Silten looks concerned, but at the same time excited.  He tries to balance his concerns about the structural integrity of the ship, not to mention the general condition any of its primary systems are in given how long it's been here, versus the excitement of actually working with this ancient technology.

Excitement wins.

"Will do." Corran says as he punches in a few things on the console. The Engines begin to warmly hum and gently vibrate the ship's structure.

After a few moments to warm her up and make sure she is running fine, "Going to start her slow." Corran pulls back on the controls and lifts several feet off the ground and holds there for another few moments to ensure the ship wont fail in some way and plummet back to the ground.

Looking at his companions and satisfied with the results, he pulls back again to raise her more and engages the engines to slowly maneuver the ship. "I think she's good to go, now lets see what she can do. Strap in." giving his companions a chance to restrain themselves he then pushes the levers forward on the engine power and the ship takes off through the sky at a break neck pace crossing out over the sea.

"Handles pretty well for being so old."

"Weird that it's been just sitting out in the jungle waiting for someone to pick it up and the coordinates to its location were implanted into our bothan friend here that you rescued from prison." the Captain observes as you all make your way up the ramp into the Banshee.

You pass an antiquated needleshell rifle stashed near the door to the medbay, "Found this one among the dead in the village. He was shot multiple times. 2B has been working on him since. He is alive, barely."

In the small room, the droid cares for an enormous specimen of a human. Large and muscled. Most of the skins he wears for clothing have been cut and tossed to the side of the room. You judge he is middle aged for a human. He has several blaster burn holes in his body but is now breathing steadily on a ventilator.

Corran wanders amongst the buildings not finding anything in particular. Silten notices that the buildings are likely several centuries old factoring in the erosion from the beach. Most of the equipment and furnishings in the buildings is much newer, still antiquated, but only a few decades old. You find several datapads that should help shed light on the lives here and perhaps answer how long this colony has been here.

Orsk approaches you, "I have taken a look at several of the corpses. Most appear to dressed in the same rough clothing made from jungle fibers and animal hides as our survivor. Three others are wearing garb and have pirate affiliated tattoos."

"Personal data pad entries? That would shed some light on how long the colony has been here for. Almost feel like we should ask the surviving colonist for permission first before delving into them." Orsk says as he picks up one of the pads.

"I would agree Orsk." Corran adds as he enters. "Wouldn't want someone delving into my datapad." he pats his pocket where his own is kept. "Haven't quite finished writing my novel where I want someone to read it yet. Nothing on the outside perimeter of this village except a huge wall of a compost heap."

He then almost immediately perks up as he remembers that they can't talk to the survivor anyway.  "We'll talk to him when he regainss concioussness."  He's obviously more comfortable interrogating datapads than talking to the survivor.
Title: Re: A Wretched Hive (Game Thread)
Post by: Melblen_Cairn on December 08, 2016, 12:08:18 PM
Silten easily unlocks the weak security on the pads. There are some entries that go back 3 decades and will take time to go over while standing in a ruined village house.

After spending a few hours reviewing the entries. You determine this must be a second colony arriving about 25 standard years before. No mention is made of the ship you have found. There have been a few visitors over those years, and the village were welcoming hosts from what you can determine.

One entry from about a standard year ago mentions the arrival of a mysterious bothan on the annual supply ship. The young girl writing this entry, noted that she spotted him slip out of the village at night and disappeared down the beach. She worried the jungle predators would catch him but the next morning he was back in the village and quietly left on the supply ship that took off again that morning.

One of the last entries appears to be a few planetary days ago. She explains how the supply ship arrived but carries strangely garbed and tattooed people instead of the regular pilot and crew. She expresses her fears about these folk and that Hallomar is still in the jungle and has not returned yet.

"Maybe. I'd be more interested in punishing the pirates who killed all these folks. When you think about it, whomever wiped this system from the official nav charts did us a favor. We have private beach front property to retire to in peace without the Empire's knowledge" Corran say, the latter of which you can not tell if he is joking or serious about.

Orsk has a look of concern, "You mentioned an entry about a bothan visiting here a year ago and I had this planets coordinates imbedded in my body. Taken together, I think that bothan was likely me, and I was probably visiting this ship during that mentioned disappearance."

Walking over the ship and spending time with her engines, you find that everything either belongs in a museum or has been removed entirely. The only recent updates are to air filtration, gravity generation and other life support functions. The single weapon that remains is old at best as are her shields. The main hyperdrive has been removed and only has the backup.

There are some stores of food and water. There are two space suits in storage lockers in the cargo area. There are port and starboard crew quarters with several bunks in each, the bedding rolled and stored in sealed bags on each bunk.

After inspecting everything twice, the ship is capable and safe for space flight, even if she will be slow traveling through the hyperlanes on her backup.

Corran brings up Catain Okeefe on the communicator, "Heya Captain. Would you mind terribly if we took our new ship here for a spin? We will go ahead and check out the coordinates that Switch passed to us."

"Not at all. Your droid is still working on the surviving villager, and does not want to move the ship even until he is recovered. Be careful out there." she says.

"You too, based on the some of the information from the villagers datapads, there are some fairly dangerous predators in the jungle." Corran warns.

Soon after, he fires up the Dynamic class freighter's engines and lifts off. Rocketing for the atmosphere. The ship easily reaches escape velocity and pushes into space beyond. Each of you feels an overwhelming sense of freedom to go where you want, when you want to.

"Hmm, there's no nav-computer. Silten, we are going to need you to do the calculations before we try to jump."

Silten performs the complex calculations and come sup with a route that shaves half the time off the the long journey with a slower hyperdrive, but the trip will still take a lot of time. During the journey, there is plenty of time for Silten to assess the many things needed for their ship and to determine its capabilities.

During some time below one of the maintenance hatches, Silten comes across a black box stashed cleverly behind some power conduits in a small compartment hidden from view. The only reason the mechanic was able to even come across it was from his thorough examination of the ship. Removing the box was tricky, and Silten found was cleverly trapped that not removed correctly would send electrical arcs through the whole ship electrifying anyone inside.

Silten decides not to tell the others that without consulting them he could have killed them all.  Instead he takes the box to where he's set up his workshop and examines it carefully.  If just removing it could have killed him there's the distinct possibility that opening it could have the same effect.

Silten does not find anything else ominous on the box and proceeds with working on the lock. It does not take long for someone with his skill to short out the electronics on the lock and cause a reset and after punching in a few manufacturer preset codes the lock eventually pops open.

Again, careful not to set off any traps in opening it, Silten takes great care and precautions in just opening the top. After several painstaking minutes of inspection, he feels it is safe to open. The lid comes completely off, which he sets aside. There is a tray in the top which contains the contents of a makeup and disguise kit including lenses that allow for various shifts of eye coloration. Also in the tray is an encrypted communicator, two slicer data spikes, an imperial credit chip, and a pair of access code cylinders.

Pulling the tray up and out, Silten finds cash, different denomination from different sectors or planets. There are also multiple pouches containing different sets of identification in each, every one is for a bothan, and each depicting an image of Orsk.

At the very bottom of the box is a blaster pistol and a fully charged power pack and a virbo-knife.

Orsk looks over the contents of the box on display. "These all show me, but I don't recall any of these names of places they have for residences. This doesn't answer anything!" he shouts in frustration. "I have even more questions now. What the hell did I need all this stuff for? It looks like some form of jump out bag."

Seeing you both are armed, he resigns himself to the contents and conceals the knife in his boot and loads the pistol and pushes it into his belt behind his back hiding it from view. Sorting through the credentials he selects one to carry with him. "Well since Orsk Me'Lya is a fugitive from the Empire. I guess Naylar Miv'ori will help keep them off my trail." he says as he pockets some of the cash, and the rest of the gear.

"I've been over this ship for days, looking at everything. None of it is helping! I don't remember who I was!" frustrated, Orsk shouts and sends the box scattering to the floor.

"Calm down there. These things take some time to come back, and I hate to say this, but if they come back at all." Corran responds to the outburst. "Once we drop out of hyperspace, and there is work to do, you'll have enough distraction from dwelling on all this. Plus I am sure Silten can put you to work with cleaning up with old bird."

Everyone stays as busy as possible over the journey's days. Orsk helps out where he can, you find he has a keen eye for details and seems to have a breadth of knowledge about the galaxy that he can not explain how he knows. During the off hours, you find him dwelling on the items found. Looking over the identification over and over for even the most minute detail.

At length, the ship's destination alarm triggers, warning that you are coming up on the coordinates to drop out of hyperspace. As the group convenes in the cockpit and the blue tunnel of hyperspace falls away. You find yourself sitting in space with nothing but the stars surrounding you. A moment of worry is replaced by the knowledge that the object you seek is likely drifting and would not still be in this spot.

"Silten, can you get a read on anything on the scopes?"

"Nothing asss large asss we are looking for. I do pick up a trail of small debris, that we can follow.

"Not seeing anything out there yet on the old visual scanners."

Pieces of ships, droids, starfighters, even the few grizzly remains of clones can be seen floating along among larger blasted pieces of junk. Some buffet the ship but Corran is able to avoid most of the debris as he guides the freighter through.

The sensors encounter three ships. Two a near each other and heading in the same direction through the debris field, toward your location. These are small fighter sized ships and do not have their shields powered. The third ship is the size of a scout vessel but its signature suddenly falls off. It is difficult to get good readings among all the debris.

Silten relays the information to his companions, unsure of what kind of reception they might receive from the other ships.

"...didn't sign up to be pulverised out here by space junk."

"Lets get the shields up then. Maybe we will get the drop on them. Powering up the weapon." Corran says before you intercept the next message.

"Scanners are not finding anything large in this spot, lets move to point seven six. Maybe we'll have better luck there."

As you pull within range, you can make out that the two ships are Tie Fighters.

Corran takes advantage of the debris to position the ship for the best attack possible. The ties stay on the present course, oblivious to your presence. Sitting next to Corran, Orsk depresses the fire control buttons on the laser cannon. The laser blast hits the back of the first Tie Fighter, debilitating it but it is not destroyed.

"I'm hit! Blast it! It's bad! They got my engines!"
"Break Left! Break Left! Get out of there, I'll engage!" Silten intercepts on the comm chatter.

Corran slips the ship into another heavy concentration of debris and says close to larger ones and lines up Orsk for another shot.

Orsk opens fire on the next Tie Fighter. but the attack goes wide of the ship as it rolls out of the way and returns fire with its cannons. Green blast splash across your ships shields and the ship is jarred roughly by the blasts but her shields do not falter. The Tie then makes a run for a denser cloud of ship wreckage and debris.

"The heavier debris is making it hard to get a good lock on him." Orsk says as he depresses the fire control again. The shot blasts across a large piece of a blasted starfighter, blasting it into smaller pieces.

As Corran maneuvers to keep close on the Tie and large amount of debris drifts into the path. Corran rolls the ship out of the way of the worst of it.

The Tie fighter spins around a large chunk of a ship and appears around the other side lacing your ship with more green laser blasts.

"The wreck has a rotation to it. Lets make a pass around her to see what we make of her." and he slowly moves the ship around the wreck. "I think we have a section of one of the ships smaller hanger bays here. Look those blast doors are likely closing off the hanger. There's an airlock, but with this rotation it will be hard to line up with it. Nice! We've got ourselves a quad laser cannon there. We should try to salvage that."

"Lets hop today's universal couplers work on this old bird's docking clamp and airlock or else this could be really bad." Corran says as he ties to level off and keep pace with the spin on the wreck. The ship moves closer and smashes into the side of the wreckage as the rotation moves the airlock away before a connection can be made. Corran then suddenly has to veer off suddenly as another chunk of debris nearly collides with the ship.

After a couple attempts, Corran says "This is not possible. If we space walk it, Could you cut through some of that crammed debris we saw in one of the wrecks openings?"

Corran decompresses the airlock slowly, voiding all the air from the area once the pair is ready and secured. Then the airlock door opens and he cuts the artifical grav to the space. The sudden weightlessness is disconcerting.

"Oh I think I am going to be sick." Orsk exclaims in your helmet comm at the feeling but still follows along. You both make the leap and begin the space walk across the distance between your ship and the wreckage. You manage to easily reach wreckage. Silten fires up his torch and begins to cut through the debris clogging up a blasted hole in the structure.

About a meter and a half through the debris, half a droid, drifting along with the rest of the debris floats into sight, its red photoreceptors still aglow, raises its blaster and fires. The laser blast scorches the side of the wreckage nearby Silten and certainly startles both companions.  The action of firing sends the droid spinning uncontrollably and it smashes into a large chunk of what must have been an ARC170.

The last of the debris is cleared from the hole you cut through. in the light of the suit's attached glow lamps you see you have breached a hanger control room. Most of the rooms contents filled the original breach in the outer hull but a center holo projector and a few of the computer terminals still remain in their original locations.

Two sets of photoreceptors blink on in the darkness beyond you lights as you enter the breach and the opening is laced with blaster fire.

Orsk pushes off from the outer hull and as a bothan projectile, soars directly at the pair of photoreceptors nearest. In the revealing glow lamp its a B1 series battledroid. He inverts himself to feet first and lands a double kick to the droid. This lacks much of the power in a regular gravity environment though and only succeeds in spinning the droid end over end as it connects with the droid.

A battle droid appears int he viewport to the hanger bay not far away from the astromech and takes a shot at something below them. There are further red flashes in the hanger.

The two droids you are fighting now both open fire wildly. but the close range of Orsk means he takes a shot point blank in the chest. Blowing him back to float momentarily in a slight spin.

Aiakos takes a few steps back into the darknesss to make herself harder to hit, then lets loose a force augmented shot at the nearest super battle droid.

Silten's carefully placed shot takes the droid's head off it's mounting right in front of Orsk.

You both see a panel open on the small astomech droid and a tubular shaped object pops out. It turns this on the battle droid outside the window and it emits a laser blast this bores a hole into the B1 Series droid destroying its processors.

(click to show/hide)

The remaining battledroid in the control room continues to fire on Silten's position blasting away chunks of debris from the clogged hole int he ship but doing very little to hit the floating mechanic.

(click to show/hide)

Orsk moves back through the breech and takes cover outside the ship, taking a minute to catch his breath.

Salvage? Now you're talking! You sound like my kind of guy...or girl! No offense, but I'm not really sure how genders work on your species. Aiakos points to somewhere in the darkness behind her as she keeps talking at an impressive pace The ship I came with crashed over there. Not much left to salvage out of it if you ask me. I doubt there was much to salvage out of it the day it left the assembly line to be completely honest. It's also not my ship . My ship is... As I was saying earlier, it's a long story, one that I'll gladly share with you in more comfortable surroundings.

The room your in appears to be a main control room for the hanger. There are a couple consoles that remain intact after both the violent destruction of the ship it was blasted from and your firefight with the battledroids.

The bothan says "A pleasure to meet you, Aiakos, my name is Orsk. and he covers a blaster burned hole in his suit that had luckily melted closed upon contact with the super heated projectile. "Silten, I may need the assistance of your medical unit once we meet up with the Banshee. Plus my suit may be compromised. I think I should head back to the ship now and let you and Aiakos look for what we are seeking." keying the comm in his suit to the ship you hear. "Corran, I am coming back to the ship, we encountered some battledroids in here and I got injured. Silten made it through fine and will continue or job."

Silten's floating slither is made all the more odd by his makeshift suit. He looks over the terminal and knows it needs power but cannot determine where to power it from.

Orsk re-enters the breach and reattaches to his tether and floats back to the ship.

M8 rolls over to the panel that Silten is staring at. "bleedlboop, dweet!" the mechanic hears in his helmet. The droid points out where the power failure is, bypasses the melted wiring and hooks up his own secondary battery to the terminal. In a  moment the display flickers on. "Boop, woowoowooop deeleep? bwooooeep wopwooo beep?

The display brings up the ship, a big sphere surrounded by a rounded ring. You easily find the section you are in. One of the smaller docking bays. You are in it's control room. Below you if the bay itself as well as fire control for ships weapons positioned near this section. Another of the rooms below the control room indicate a mechanicals room. Based on it's symbols indicate electrical, gravity, climate, and atmospheric controls would be found there.

Pushing past blasted droid parts floating in the doorway, you make your way back down to the hanger bay. In the lights from Silten's suit and from M8, you are able to see that the entire bay is littered with floating rubble, pieces of droids and the ship, and crates of cargo are everywhere. Silten locates the doorway leading to the room with all the area's mechanicals.

M8 powers the doorway and it easily slides open. Both droid and mechanic work diligently and locate how to not only restore power, but also get the backup grav generator working along with the climate controls. M8 indicates that the emergency breach shield is functional and can close the holes off long enough to seal up the area.

"Want to speed it up in there guys, eventually those ships we blasted are going to be missed and we could have unwanted company joining us. Aiakos, we are looking for any cargo of value. Mainly a prototype droid taste simulator for our employer. Long story, don't ask. Everything else we find is icing on the Fringe Cake. Once Silten is done fiddling with getting everything working again he will download whats left in the computer terminals" Corran's voice issues in your helmets. "Once you have all the cargo ready to go, open the main hanger bay door and I will fire a magnetic tow cable and we will fast line the cargo over here. Orsk will recieve. Oh and be careful. There are more battledroids than I can count floating about out here, some may still be active enough to take shots at you when you make the trip back."

It takes a bit and requires that M8 plug himself into the backup power and become the battery for the large hunk of destroyed ship. Soon you have the lights on and power to the doors. Then Silten spools up the grav generator slowly, allowing everyone to touch effortlessly to the deck. Before the atmosphere can be restored, Silten enables the breach shield system and puts an focused shield over the holes in the ship.

Then moving about the ship he marks which doors should remain sealed at all times. Returning to the mechanical bay he then flips the switch on the atmospheric controls and dials in the air and temperature settings.

The power draw on the little astromech is intense and the functions all operate but just not at the top efficiency. After a number of minutes the air becomes breathable and the climate cold but not deadly. M8 all but shuts down to supply the power needed but now the two of you can get to work in a more agreeable environment after the extra hour and a half of effort.

Originating from Double Zed Nerf Ranch on Engabo V. While the freezer unit is blown on the crate, the deep cold of space should have effectively kept the meat frozen for these many months.

Silten sets about reconstructing some of the data to find a cargo manifest for this hanger. Piecing together the list again, it shows the crate's locations where it was stoed on the ship, contents, and size, shape, and numbering. At the time  of the ship's destruction, the simulator unit was stowed in this hanger being prepped to be picked up and due to be sent to Geonosis for study.

Armed with this information from Silten, Aiakos is able to find a crate matching the details, and upon opening finds what appears to be an intact piece of droid hardware floating in an anti shock grav transport field.

Then with assistance the large piece of equipment is finally moved to the hanger bay with the rest of the booty using a couples crate's repulsor lifts as a makeshift cart.

Aiakos finds the door controls operational, though action on the doors is slowed due to the power draw. the shield generates over the opening keeping the atmosphere in. Soon the ship appears outside the hanger and the harpoon fires the tow cable which magnetically attaches itself to the opposite wall.

The whole process still takes some time. The traversal unit works slowly on the bigger loads. Luckily, no external floating droids appear to cross your path and eventually everything is stored in the garage and cargo hold of your ship. Leaving just yourselves and M8 to make the trip back over.

Title: Re: A Wretched Hive (Game Thread)
Post by: Melblen_Cairn on April 13, 2017, 09:34:15 AM
Disconnecting the droid sends everything else in the maintenance bay floating including Silten and the returning droid. The rest of the cargo and debris in the hanger bay is blown out as power to the shield is cut relieving the space of any oxygen and heat.

Silten connects to the tether and zips across while M8 grumbles about the meatbags taking so long to handle things here and draining his batteries.

Back aboard the ship, M8 connects to a charging station. The cargo is stowed and lashed to the deck plates in the cargo hold area and the garage. Corran steers the ship away from the debris field and once clear turns,

"Now that we have everything, where to now? Back to where we left O'keefe and the Banshee? Or should we off load this stuff first?"

Later inspecting the droid starfighter, he finds it is in working order and just needs to be fully charged. Though without a remote processor, the droid will still not function. The best option is likely to fence the former CIS military hardware.

Aiakos watches the whole scene somewhat puzzled. After stuff settles down a bit, she approaches Silten So, what's going on with your friend?

A warning stare and a pointed finger at the droid from the human is all it takes for the droid to belay that order, its self preservation protocols overriding it.

"You don't think I am keenly aware that all the people I had come to call friends and family are gone?", the pain clear in his feature is not all physical. "You wont be safe inside you ship, the predators here can rend metal with their claws. You can take off but I will remain here in my home and tend to the dead according to their ways."

Silten looks at Aikos and shrugs, a gesture he has picked up from close proximity with humans.  He still doesn't do it very well.

"Pleasse explain yoursself."

Assuming the former, Hallomar continues, "I owe it to them all, they welcomed me to their lives. This place is my home now." slinging the needleshell rifle over his shoulder and moving on down a corridor of the ship.

"Since he is intent on going, please go with him masters." 2-1B pleads.

Silten looks very unsure of what to do.

Aiakos looks in the direction Hallomar has gone Kinda suicidal if you ask me. If what he says about the predators is true, we can leave him be and get the hell off this rock, but if you guys plan on staying longer, I feel it's in our best interest to help him keep the wildlife at bay.

"Well, the Outcast doesn't yet have a decent Hyperdrive worth a damn. Silten did you ever get that weird alien one working you picked up on Alderaan?" Corran asks. "May be worth plugging it into our new ship here and see what she can do. How long do you figure it would take?"

After some mental calculation, Silten says, "Five dayss to insstall the hyperdrive.  If we choosse to do sso I agree with Aiakoss, we will need to help that man."

"Crash and I will make preparations for installing the alien tech on board your ship while you are out with Hallomar. the captain offers.

"Thanks." Corran nods to her as he follows the large man. Orsk falls in behind him. Once caught up on the sand, "Well, what do we need to do?"

"The colonists believed in serving the good of the community, even in death. They would be interred in the compost walls and further help protect the village. We can begin there, but with how long I have been out it is not enough. We need to go out into the jungle and hunt for beasts or find carrion or rotting plants to add."

Aiakos heads toward the forest, trying to find stuff that looks like rotting plants or carrion without disturbing her surroundings too much.
