OOC Discussion
« on: July 10, 2012, 04:07:32 PM »
I'll be converting the CODE tags to tables when I get a chance.  The other site didn't support tables (bluh).

Any suggestions re: the Killravens vs the Calaspars?

Quote from: LordChaos,Jun 15 2012, 05:58 AM
Hi all, I saw the link from Giant and came by.
It looks good and I should be able to whip up a character. I'm tossing between a Rogue (maybe w/ a fix) affiliated with Callasper or a Dread Necro with Forsaken.

May I ask why the Killravens are so much worse than the Calaspers?
Unsanctioned jobs giving a -8 could happen with almost everything a good Rogue does. Acquiring goods, extorting nobles, even a basic mugging would all fall under that banner.
Recruiting new criminals sounds good and all but wouldn't actually happen in game because anyone who would want to are either already Calasper or Killraven.

The Calaspers get boni at +10 skill which the Killravens don't (though their list is bigger which is good but it also stretches between archetypes) and killing a Chorun Carr is easier than turning in a Calasper in the middle of a crime because Calaspers are supposed to be good at what they do and would escape or Bluff/Diplomance themselves out and the Killraven in.

Quote from: sirpercival,Jun 24 2012, 11:29 PM
For the unsanctioned jobs thing... if you want to be affiliated w/ the Killravens, you'll meet score = 4 trivially.  So you won't have to worry about unsanctioned jobs.

For the other stuff, do you have any suggestions?  I was doing this all from scratch while posting here, so tweaks would be great.

Didnt know if this was the place to ask about rules but how does a necklace of natural attacks work with your enchantment rules?

I'd like to participate in this, though the lack of LA buyoff and similar lack of certain creatures in Oslecamo's forum are somewhat hindering.  Would it be possible to put forth our own homebrew on those lines?

Also, I have some comments about some of the classes.  Since Warlocks now have eldritch blast as supernatural, is it no longer possible to use quicken SLA et al on it?

Absolutely!  Also feel free to request stuff here or there.  I'm happy to work on new stuff for that.

Up to you, though character dev stuff might clog/fill this thread.

There are now enough people interested that it's probably more than one team, so go ahead and fill up this thread.  That's what it's here for.

It basically obviates the Amulet of Mighty Fists, which I don't think anyone is sad about.  Your natural attack gets the property and the associated enhancement bonus as normal (that is, as normal for my houserules).

I've scrapped the Blood King idea.  I'm thinking about a Spellshaper (which is already approved).

Great!  I love spellshapers.

Got down to Killraven, but I don't really feel like doing any more tonight.

You, sir, are a beautiful human being.

Thanks. Just wanted clarification because it is not a weapon/armor/shield and RAW doesn't fit with your rules :D.

Kind of a shame The Dark God doesn't have War as a domain.  Free proficiency with a bastard sword might be useful for some builds such as a level or two in Exotic Weapon Master.

There are too many cool look spellshapers, I'm having problems deciding.   :shakefist

It is indeed a problem... lol.

Ran out of domains...

War Domain only grants Martial Weapon Proficiency, so you'd only be proficient with it as a two-handed martial weapon anyways (rather than as a one-handed exotic weapon).

I know!  :lol I wound up choosing a level of Dragonheart Adept (blue dragon heritage) for my character. So his breath weapon will be a line of electricity.

I'd like to actually flavor this as just being part of his construct abilities, instead of him having an affinity for dragons. So basically, he can shoot out a line of electricity and produce some magical effects, some of which are delivered via his "breath weapon", and all of which are powered by his own internal power source. Sound OK SirP?

OK, I split out the FFA char discussion stuff into its own thread.

At the moment, for the next team we have Nanshork, littha, ShadowViper, and Jackinthegreen.  Did I miss anyone?  I can make you guys a team thread and split out the discussion as soon as you give me a team name.  :)

Oh, question while it's on my mind: The fighter variants from Dragon 310 are allowed, correct?  What are your plans to deal with the pugilist Shake it Off + Warforged Improved Resiliency problem?  My first though is that instead of only gaining nonlethal damage, the character can shake off some lethal damage and put into nonlethal at the rate of x per rounds or minute or something.  Maybe make it a turn up to 5 points of lethal damage into nonlethal per character level some number of times per day.

Yes, that needs to be addressed.  Shake It Off is ridiculous for anyone, not just warforged.  Let's say that SIO allows you to convert Con mod lethal damage to nonlethal damage every round.  It's like a not-as-good fast healing.

Yes, Chorrun Char needs to be edited.  I'll make it more dragony.

We are The Nameless.   :P

That's pretty cool.  I'll make you a team thread and if you wanna change the name later, feel free.

Unfortunately the one affiliation that fits my character (Red Lotus) is a spellcasting affiliation for no particular reason.
Hmm.

sirpercival:You're using an improved version of IUS, but my scholar class gets IUS as a bonus feat and then it improves it as a separate part. Do both improvements stack or do I just use the one that gives me better numbers?

Yay!  I'll get to these soon.

Yeah... I think that's a legacy of the original High Arcana campaign where the party were all members of the rebellion and had to all be spellcasters.  I'll fix that on the edit, and you'll be fine to join the Red Lotus.

Take whichever is better.

Little rules thing since I noticed it on several char sheets: Ghost Ward only adds the enhancement bonus of the armour/shield to your touch AC, not the armour/shield bonus.

By the way, if one team has 4 players and another has 6, we can always just even them out at 5 and 5.

There's more interested people, so I don't think it'll be a problem.  Someone posted in Willing Recruits, for example.

Should I ask my ruling question before or after I get recruited?
"You think I'm talking about breaking the rules?"
"No I'm just trying to figure out how far you want them bent."
