[Discussion] Stark Industries discussion thread
« on: October 09, 2012, 07:22:31 PM »
Because every group needs a thread to tall about how righteously badass they are. :P

So, it seems we've got 5 players and a good start to the team.

Also, I can always rename the thread title if we change the name. :)

First thing I'd like to bring up is Affiliations; I see no reason why an affiliation wouldn't be akin to a degree that you would put on your resume when applying to work for Stark Industries. So I see no reason why you couldn't do both easily. That being said, Stark of course only hires the best of the best, so while building try and keep in mind maxing out an affiliation score. It could be very helpful.

What this also means is that while we are competing for Stark Industries, it is to the benefit of our affiliates that we succeed as well. Business is business, so we might actually have an edge over the rest of our groups and competitors.

Aside form that, cant wait to get this game up!

And for the record, I'm kind of thinking a full-plate blastificer with some BFC. I dont know adaptable warcrafters could be for meleeficers...

I know there are some IV maneuvers which provide combat bonuses with the aid of spell trigger items, which you'd probably have on hand anyway.

I might go for a full-fledged alchemist with this...maybe I could swap out one of my warcrafter disciplines for Infinite Shore. The Dreaming Apothecary would just adore me, I imagine.

Perplexing Essence is the best for meleeing, I think.

EDIT: Boz, I'm going to add Master Alchemist adaptation as well.  And I believe BP 4-9 works on spellvials since they're technically potions.

Excellent. Now all I need is to find out exactly what Flasked Avenger does. :P

Aside from Legendary and Extraordinary artisan, there is Magical Artisan. SirP, what's the consensus on this? Do they interact, since magical would have to be taken for each item creation feat, and is thus more taxing or more limited, or do you wanna not allow that guy?

So far I'm thinking straight warcrafter, to give it a proper testing (a little less so since I've only ever toyed with the idea of artificers before) focusing Impromptu Virge, though I thought of making a Terran Marine with mystic brew representing their combat stims. I will probably wand-chamber up and have plenty on-call. And I'm trying to think of other maneuvers for the different schools. What're you all thinking?

Also how borked is Tesselated armor? I cant even what?

Alright, so I think I've settled on Anaxim 6.

It narrowly beat out:
Living Spell 6
Bladerager Troll 3, Half-Golem 3
Minotaur 4, Half-Golem 2
Half-Giant 1, Half-Golem 3, Fusion Golem 2
Ogre 3, Half-Golem 3
(I could totally be talked into any of these other possibilities, but for now, I'm gonna start putting together the Anaxim.)

From a cursory glance, a combination of Perplexing Essence and Twisted Vellum would be good for a meleeficer with a secondary focus on utility.

FireintheSky, which direction are you going for? Pure Damage?

That's what it's starting to look like.  You have a suggestion?  Or just seeing where to take your char?

Yes, just seeing what feats to take. Since you have damage, I am thinking reach and the AoO route, keeping enemies away from our creators while you rush in and eviscerate them.

Cool.  I'll have an okay ranged attack as well, but Melee is gonna be my main thing.

So Anaxim, you're a drone-machine product of the military science division of Stark Industries, huh? That's awesome! So, you know you have really nice telepathy, right? If you take Mindsight, you can "see" everything with a thought in your radius, as well as communicate everything to the whole party telepathically. Just pointing that out.  :D

So far all I've done is calculate out Nimble Mithril Fullplate and contemplate a wandificer. Watching the first Iron Man and thinking more.

Basic plot is I'm a designer that makes battle-armor. He designed this new, light, mobile-type armor for the elite of the city watch and such, but instead the CEO decided to send him in it as a company representative. Despite the fact that traditionally he doesn't get in the line of fire (being more noble-born), he's now forced to get his hands dirty, so he spent his last week of preparation pimping out the combat suit. If he was in a position of power in Stark Industries, then he might have been the person who assembled the team. Otherwise he's just a poor roped-in soul.

Flay, to answer your question, I'd like to stay away from Magical Artisan (Other artisan feats).  You guys are gonna be breaking WBL in halfsies anyway.

Just to point out, Anaxim's bolter guns can trip & bull rush at range.  Combine Imp Bull Rush, Shock Trooper, and Improved Trip for awesome BFC.

I need some help here. I don't do melee builds usually and I am unsure about my build.

Since FireintheSky has better damage capabilities, I am going for a lock-down build. I am just not sure what would be more effective.

I have 7 feats available. 1 will be used to enhance spellshaping (Sculpt spellshape) so that makes 6.

Right now I have: Combat Reflexes. Exotic Weapon (Spiked Chain), Improved Trip, Knock-Down, Stand Still and Combat Expertise.

What do you think? Should I change them? Maybe remove Knock-Down, Combat Expertise and Improved trip and go for Power Attack, Improved Bull Rush and Knock-Back? Any suggestions?

WIP sheet is up.

@sam: as SirP pointed, I can go for more BFC if you'd prefer to do more pure damage.  I went away from that in the sheet I just put up, but I can easily go the other way.  Are there more spellshaping feats that would be useful?

I would spend feats on BFC stuff since "i full attack" is boring.  Plus Shock Trooper aids you in charging.
