You can change arsenal as long as you have a mothership to dock to. If none of the players chooses to be a ship captain, an NPC will be provided for the job.

Edit: Just for the flavor alone I'm now playing a Binder//Super or Real Robot (I'm now iffy on the robot choice).

With the restriction of SRD and Robot Wars races only I'll be either a Human or a Newtype (Android is out because Binding is a class ability based on Charisma).

Yes, it has been lifted, you can go with any kind of real pilot you want.

It wasn't for Shenanigans (really don't know much of the shenanigans for Dragonwrought) so much as an explanation of why money makes his mecha stronger. Kobold Rogue still works, right?

To clarify: This character is not a caster, and will never take casting levels without express permission- he's a rogue piloting a giant ninja dragon robot.

Kobold rogue perfectly fine. You can still fluff it up as money making your mecha stronger.

IIRC we're just using normal D&D equipment and the reflavoring it, longsword = laser sword, etc.

I'm not sure about laser chainsaw swords though.

I can't remember a ranged weapon in D&D that fires warheads dealing area damage...
