The last cube dissolves into a bubbling pool of acid as its "brother" did.

With the cube gone and not their to support them, Marlowe and Raoul fall over against each other, but remain standing, their legs frozen mid-stride, exactly as they were when they walked into the cube.

Surin reappears, returns to normal size, and then calls another large bluish creature into being, which moves Marlowe & Raoul out of the way.

Oaxool gains some altitude (how high are the ceilings anyway?) and triggers its healing ring, milking it for maximum effect over time (4 hp meh).

As you look around, you notice that Xuuvosic and several of his minions seem to have disappeared at the same time as the large cube.

Ris-Janna looks around in mild confusion, dropping her stance to look around with a questioning look. Without anyone left to stab, she defaults to her backup plan: Move to where the big cube was, and wait for it in case it shows up again for stabbing.

Siphsis just barely manages to pop back into the time stream. Disoriented, he holds his action.

Oggug and Hannavrah had already exited the battlefield and both retreat a bit further and break out the black sand to start healing.

Uvorix remains paralyzed.

Cade scratches his head a moment, but gets ready for the Cube's return by mixing two of his fighting styles and awaiting its return.

Xuuvosic reappears looking extremely pissed off. "I'm getting real tired of this motherfucking cube (on this motherfucking HARDIS). When the fucking thing comes back hold up a moment before cutting loose. I'm gonna try to dispel that affinity bullshit." Time slows around everyone near the portal.

The cube reappears just where it had disappeared from, except now it has two Marlowe- and Raoul-shaped holes in it (which rapidly close up).

Warping time around him yet further, Xuuvosic flicks a spiked chain at the cube repeatedly, from his vantage point near the ceiling. The attacks are incredibly rapid but there seems to be little force behind them.

Cade hesitates, deciding not to attack the cube after all, as something definitely seems to be at work here. But what could it be...?

Cade is sure he's seen this kind of thing before... but it wasn't from any kind of ooze. He remembers a type of small demon called a jovoc, often used as a "shock trooper" in the blood war, which has this kind of rebounding effect. From what he recalls, they were devastating if you could sneak them into the thick of things, but pretty harmless from a distance.
