Interlude XX
Day 208 Continued.

Niobe strides in from the hallway, and everyone sees that a pair of shadowy wings (very similar to the ones Akara had) have sprung from her back. She expands her spear and shield from Nonthreatening to Threatening, and the wings reflexively stretch themselves.
Brak wakes up, rolls out of bed, and heads into the front room.
Aha we have two minutes to prepare!
Eli remains at the top of the stairs where he slept through the night, and stares down at the door waiting.
Niobe swaps the wand of draconic might in the wand holster in her shield for a wand of rhino’s rush.
After two minutes of the pounding all sounds cease.
Niobe leaves the immoveable rod in place for now.
Leroy pulls out the deck of cards, and plays with the case between his hands, remembering what Akara said.
Clifford somehow now looks like this:
(“Fitting choice for a place like this,” Deek mutters)
He also backs up from the door a few feet, still staring at it. He gets even larger, but shifts to the side with a doggy head tilt toward Niobe.
Niobe- “Is everyone ready? Does anyone want a tap from this wand of draconic might? You’ll be stronger, tougher, and immune to paralyzation and sleep spells. I only have five charges left, though.”
“I will take one.” Derek says.
Niobe scoots over and casts draconic might on Derek.
At the same time that Niobe is using the wand on Derek two large Wolves burst through the doors on both sides of the room the party is in. The walls don’t hold up well as the wolves push through them as well. Brak is bowled over by the two wolves that push into the room and ends up falling farther into the room. Brak is able to keep from falling on his face as the wolves push into the room.
Round 1!
Brak decides that he is going to be everyone’s boss and rearrange them more to his liking. He swaps himself and Niobe’s position via dimension swap and then moves himself out of danger with dimension hop.
Niobe- “What the...? Ahh more wolves. Clifford, are these the ones that smell wrong?”
Clifford - “Yes, the wrong-wolves!”
Leroy first clicks his heels with the boots of speed, and gains haste for 10 rounds. He then moves towards the pink wolf and attacks it!
Purple and Red Wolves move forward together and attack Niobe. She stabs at each of them in turn as they close with her, hitting each of them.
The wolves receive their stabbings and close with her anyway. One bites and misses completely, and the other’s attack doesn’t do nearly as much damage as Niobe expected.
Blue attacks Derek, and misses badly.
Pink bites at Leroy, and gets a decent bite in.
Derek slips his finger into his ring of invisibility and vanishes.
Derek uses his boots of swift passage to teleport behind werewolves pink and blue. Unfortunately he can’t attack just yet.
Eli manifests a full wild surge death urge at the purple wolf. He manages not to daze himself. The wolf fails its save and is now suicidal.
Niobe takes a five foot step up the stairs, activates law devotion and divine might, aaaand then full attacks the wolf. She’ll save a smite evil for her last attack.
Clifford takes a step toward the wolf in front of him and attacks! It collapses.
Round 2!
Brak sees that the wolves do not appear to be a super serious threat right now, so Brak manifests Fly, and lifts gently off the ground, hanging out a few feet below the ceiling, so he’s 15’ off the ground.
Leroy looks at the pink wolf “I hate pink animals! AVAST YE MATEY!” and takes four swipes with his rapier. The wolf doesn’t appear to good. Like it is about to fall over but manages to stay upright before attacking Leroy back and missing. “Mates! Me got this foul creature! I shall kill it next time!” Leroy shouts to the group
Blue wolf moves forward and bits at Leroy, and also misses.
Two more wolves come busting through the front windows and a loud thump sounds from the door as something hits hard, but is not able to move the rod.
Leroy is just dancing between the wolves laughing “This will be the day you almost bit Captain Leroy Sparrow!” he shouts at the wolves
Derek soft-shoes 15 feet back from the wolf with the blue collar, and rapidly fires arrows at it. Derek’s first two arrows kill wolf blue, so he puts the last one into the back of the one fighting Leroy. Derek backs into something solid that doesn’t give way. He still manages to get all his arrows to fly but the object he walks into happened to be walking the same way Derek was and now both Derek and the thing he walked into are visible. He turns to face whatever he bumped into.
Leroy watches the pink wolf die in front of him. He raises his hands and sword in a ‘come at me bro stance’ and says “I had that wolf!”
Eli manifest a mind thrust at the wolf behind Brak. The wolf fails its save and is turned into ribbons.
Clifford whips around to leap on the wolf now behind him. He tears it apart.
Niobe- “I’m gonna take down the immovable rod and see what’s outside. Any objections?” She does a flying hop- without seeming to notice she has wings- and takes down the immovable rod...but doesn’t open the door.
Leroy raises his hand “I Object only because me kill was stolen.” he says sarcastically”
Eli shakes his head. Watching and ready to manifest.
Round 3!
Brak sees no enemies currently, so he floats over to more or less above Eli so he can see what’s happening at the door better.
Leroy moves about 15 feet towards Niobe and waits for anything to happen.
Before Leroy can move the full distance he is attacked, by a werewolf that is now visible.
The red werewolf behind Derek attacks and misses all four times.
Clifford gets attacked, by another werewolf that appears from nowhere, one hit and the rest miss horribly.
Niobe gets attacked and is suddenly pushed hard by the door that tries to explode through her. Only one hit from the werewolf and she manages to keep her feet and the door closed.
Derek teleports 20 feet behind the werewolf that failed to mangle him, and rapidly fires arrows at it. Two hit, it is not dead.
Eli manifests Death urge on the werewolf next to Leroy. Using a full wild surge. He manages not to daze himself. The werewolf fails the save and is now suicidal.
Niobe takes a step back and attempts to stab the werewolf to death. She uses law devotion and divine might. She’s a bit unbalanced with the first thrust, but connects on the other two, killing the stupid werewolf in his stupid werewolfy face.
Clifford whips around again, getting tired of having to completely change direction. He takes his anger out on the werewolf next to him. Clifford gets in some really good bites, but they don’t appear to have been as effective as they should have been.
Round 4!
Brak manifests true seeing. He’s had it with the fricking invisible werewolves in this fricking house! He doesn’t see anything else.
Leroy looks at orange werewolf and gives him four attacks for being a mangy dog! “Taste steel mangy dog!” he yells at it! The attacks hit but don’t look to be nearly as effective as Leroy thinks they should have been.
Red Werewolf moves to attack Derek, but misses all attacks.
Green Werewolf attacks Clifford, hitting Clifford twice.
Red/Blue wolf also attacks Clifford, and gets a decent bite in.
The Orange werewolf being suicidal now takes out his attacks on himself and manages to kill himself.
Niobe manages to keep her feet again as the door splinters in pieces all around her. A dire wolf staggers back a few steps from her as the rest of the door and part of the wall falls away. Those closest to the door can see what is outside waiting for them.
In the back there appear to be two spell casters. That cast two different spells.
Derek again teleports 20 feet behind the red werewolf hoping to catch it off guard again. Same rapid fire attack. The Werewolf shrugs the damage off.
Eli seeing the larger looking werewolves outside manifests a full wild surge and chaotic surge energy claw. Manages not to daze himself and the claw appears in front of the werewolf infused with fire. The claw attacks the Werewolf and hits. Then grapples the werewolf and keeps it from moving.
Niobe full attacks the dire wolf in front of her, with law devotion and power attack. She gets in two good hits, but stumbles on the last attack.
Clifford attacks the werewolf again. It’s in bad shape, but still standing.
Round 5!
Brak flies forward to see about these two wizards. Aaaanddd throws a glob of entangling ectoplasm at the blue wizard.
Leroy moves 35 feet towards the door to help out with the commotion there.
Red Werewolf again goes after Derek and again misses completely.
Green Werewolf attacks Clifford, and hits him twice.
Red/Blue wolf attacks Clifford, and misses horribly.
The entangled wizard turns into a gaseous form.
The other Wizard cast another spell on Niobe. The wizard makes it past her spell resistance and now Niobe finds herself in an extra dimensional labyrinth.
The Two Werewolf lords stand their ground waiting outside.
Derek activates his invisibility ring and retreats toward the foyer, being careful to not bump into anyone.
Eli manifest a second energy Claw just as he did the first time and sends it in front of the red large werewolf. Manages not to daze himself and the claw attacks and grapples the werewolf.
Niobe is still lost in a maze.
Clifford takes one more bites out of the werewolf, and it drops dead, He turns, once again, to face the door and the dire wolf on that side. He’s looking pretty beat up. He mauls the dire wolf to the ground as well.
Round 6!
Brak tries to use time hop on the non-gaseous wizard and throw him into the future, and he expends his psionic focus to make it a little tougher to resist. “Two can play at that game…” The wizard disappears!
Brak looks around to see if anyone is paying attention, but the answer is no. Otherwise he would tell them to be ready for the wizard to return in less than a minute.
Leroy for some reason sees things are busy, so he pulls out his deck of cards, gives it two shuffles, and draws the top card. Leroy draws a card marked Euryale. He how has a -1 on all saving throws. The card vanishes out of his fingers. “So that is what the deck does. Interesting.” Leroy mutters to himself.
Red werewolf starts moving forward to find someone to attack.
The two werewolf lords struggle to get away from the claws holding them.
The gaseous wizard reappears and casts the same spell that was cast on Niobe on Eli. As soon as Eli disappears so does the claws holding the werewolf lords.
Time hopped Wizard is still stuck in time.
Derek rapidly fires three arrows point blank into werewolf red. It dies as soon as the first arrow hits, and Derek moves to wherever there is a target in sight.
Eli remains lost in a maze.
Niobe also remains lost in a maze.
Clifford heads out where the front door used to be, and attacks a werewolf lord. He howls at the others “More out front, look like humans!”
Round 6!
Brak takes a move action regain his psionic focus, which he immediately expends to manifest dimension twister on werewolf lord blue, with some augmentation. Mr. Werewolf lord teleports 65 feet straight up in the air, and then falls straight down.
Leroy,enticed by the cards, moves up 35 feet behind clifford, then draws another card “Lets see what i get now.” he mutters. The Jester comes out. Leroy either gets 10,000 exp or can draw two more cards from the deck. Leroy rolls the dice, and draws two more cards. The Key and Talons are the two cards. The Key causes a major gical weapon to appear, but the Talon causes all magic items he possesses to disappear permanently. Fortunately for Leroy the cards seem to cancel each other out and he doesn’t lose any of his other magic items.
The blue Vampire mage turns into gaseous form and seems to be gone.
The other forms seem surprised by the run away vampire mage and don’t do anything yet. The two Werewolf lords close on Clifford and attack. The first one misses. The second one hits pretty hard.
Derek activates his invisibility, and moves silently toward the combat.
Eli manages to return from the maze and blinks at what he sees.
Niobe does not.
Clifford attacks the werewolf lord fiercely. He whines a bit, “Niobe… help?”
Round 7!
Brak decides to try and time hop the healthiest looking werewolf lord. He again regains and then expends his psionic focus, and attempts to throw the red werewolf lord into the future.
Brak- “Sorry Clifford, I don’t know where she went. Some wizard did something to her.”
Leroy runs around Clifford and stabs at the blue werewolf lord! The attack does nothing to the werewolf lord.
Seeing the Red Werewolf lord disappear the remaining vampire spawn also turn into gas and fly away.
Blue Werewolf lord Splits his attacks between Leroy and Clifford, but fumbles the first attack and can’t take anymore.
Derek rapidly fires three arrows point blank at the Werewolf lord; hitting it twice, and deactivating his invisibility. It falls over dead.
Derek: “Is that the last of them?”
Brak- “Maybe. One of the wizards and the other werewolf lord will return in a minute or so. Now is the time to cure yourselves.”
Derek: “I am uninjured. I will go upstairs and check on the young master and mistress.” He dashes upstairs. He finds them uninjured and hiding as best they can.
Clifford sits down on the front stoop, and licks his wounds.
It takes a few more rounds and Niobe returns. Then shortly after that the wizard returns, sees what it looks like and disappears in mist. The last werewolf lord also appears suddenly and runs off.
Clifford growls at the werewolf lord but doesn’t pursue.
Leroy stretches his muscles a bit “Me could use some healing. Mangy mutt did a number on me when he attacked.” he has a frown on his face.
Niobe looks a bit stunned. “That was not fun.”
Eli looks to Niobe and manifests to her, a maze?
Niobe- “Yeah. I couldn’t find my way out of it, it just suddenly disappeared and I was back here.” She looks around. “What happened?”
Eli shrugs and pulls out his book and writes, I just got back, and was in a maze also. All the enemies ran after they came back.
Clifford - “We killed many, but some bitey dead humans ran.” He walks up to Niobe and puts his head under her hand (with all the difficult you would expect given he’s still huge.). “Niobe, heal me, please?” He gives her sad puppy dog eyes.
Brak- “They had at least two wizards, and very powerful ones at that. I was able to throw one into the future temporarily, but now they have a good measure of what several of us can do.”
Niobe, moved by Clifford’s puppy dog eyes, uses lay on hands on him and cures 64 points of damage. “Who else is hurt?”
Leroy smiles and raises his hand
Niobe expends a turn undead and activates sacred healing. Everyone within 60’ of her gets fast healing 3 for 8 rounds, so 24 hp healed.
Derek returns a few minutes later, to report on the condition of Young Master Ismark and Miss Irina. “Our principals are unharmed. I have instructed them to prepare to depart immediately.”
Eli writes in his book, we should probably still wait till the sun comes up. It might keep the vampires away. If that is what they were.
Derek runs his hand through his hair. “True. The night seems… longer here, though. Somehow.”
Niobe- “Yes, it certainly does.”
Niobe casts cure serious wounds on Cifford, and cures him 27 hp.
Leroy puts his rapier away and pulls the deck out again. He shuffles it 7 times, then ponders if he should draw a card or not.
Brak flies a safe distance away, just in case.
Leroy sees Brak fly away, “Oh matey, it aint that bad.” then smiles. “Flip a card or nay?” he asks out loud.
Derek snorts, “Best save it for later, Captain.”
“Aye first mate, best advice from ye. Reliable.” Leroy says looking to Derek with a smile. He puts the deck away.
Niobe starts, as if seeing her wings for the first time. “When did these appear?”
Clifford tilts his head. “Before the wrong-wolves broke in. Seems very useful.”
Leroy tries to sound as suave as he can “Lass, did it hurt ye when ye fell from heaven, angel?” he winks at her as he says it.
Derek rolls his eyes, and goes back upstairs to inform the clients of the new departure time.
Niobe looks like she just can’t even. Mouth agape.
Clifford tilts his head in the other direction, even farther this time.
Eli blinks a few times and then settles down to take a few notes in his book.
Niobe takes a couple of test hops to try out the wings. “Hmm, pretty fast.”

Derek activates his invisibility, and moves silently toward the combat.
Eli manages to return from the maze and blinks at what he sees.
Niobe does not.
Clifford attacks the werewolf lord fiercely. He whines a bit, “Niobe… help?”
Round 7!
Brak decides to try and time hop the healthiest looking werewolf lord. He again regains and then expends his psionic focus, and attempts to throw the red werewolf lord into the future.
Brak- “Sorry Clifford, I don’t know where she went. Some wizard did something to her.”
Leroy runs around Clifford and stabs at the blue werewolf lord! The attack does nothing to the werewolf lord.
Seeing the Red Werewolf lord disappear the remaining vampire spawn also turn into gas and fly away.
Blue Werewolf lord Splits his attacks between Leroy and Clifford, but fumbles the first attack and can’t take anymore.
Derek rapidly fires three arrows point blank at the Werewolf lord; hitting it twice, and deactivating his invisibility. It falls over dead.
Derek: “Is that the last of them?”
Brak- “Maybe. One of the wizards and the other werewolf lord will return in a minute or so. Now is the time to cure yourselves.”
Derek: “I am uninjured. I will go upstairs and check on the young master and mistress.” He dashes upstairs. He finds them uninjured and hiding as best they can.
Clifford sits down on the front stoop, and licks his wounds.
It takes a few more rounds and Niobe returns. Then shortly after that the wizard returns, sees what it looks like and disappears in mist. The last werewolf lord also appears suddenly and runs off.
Clifford growls at the werewolf lord but doesn’t pursue.
Leroy stretches his muscles a bit “Me could use some healing. Mangy mutt did a number on me when he attacked.” he has a frown on his face.
Niobe looks a bit stunned. “That was not fun.”
Eli looks to Niobe and manifests to her, a maze?
Niobe- “Yeah. I couldn’t find my way out of it, it just suddenly disappeared and I was back here.” She looks around. “What happened?”
Eli shrugs and pulls out his book and writes, I just got back, and was in a maze also. All the enemies ran after they came back.
Clifford - “We killed many, but some bitey dead humans ran.” He walks up to Niobe and puts his head under her hand (with all the difficult you would expect given he’s still huge.). “Niobe, heal me, please?” He gives her sad puppy dog eyes.
Brak- “They had at least two wizards, and very powerful ones at that. I was able to throw one into the future temporarily, but now they have a good measure of what several of us can do.”
Niobe, moved by Clifford’s puppy dog eyes, uses lay on hands on him and cures 64 points of damage. “Who else is hurt?”
Leroy smiles and raises his hand
Niobe expends a turn undead and activates sacred healing. Everyone within 60’ of her gets fast healing 3 for 8 rounds, so 24 hp healed.
Derek returns a few minutes later, to report on the condition of Young Master Ismark and Miss Irina. “Our principals are unharmed. I have instructed them to prepare to depart immediately.”
Eli writes in his book, we should probably still wait till the sun comes up. It might keep the vampires away. If that is what they were.
Derek runs his hand through his hair. “True. The night seems… longer here, though. Somehow.”
Niobe- “Yes, it certainly does.”
Niobe casts cure serious wounds on Cifford, and cures him 27 hp.
Leroy puts his rapier away and pulls the deck out again. He shuffles it 7 times, then ponders if he should draw a card or not.
Brak flies a safe distance away, just in case.
Leroy sees Brak fly away, “Oh matey, it aint that bad.” then smiles. “Flip a card or nay?” he asks out loud.
Derek snorts, “Best save it for later, Captain.”
“Aye first mate, best advice from ye. Reliable.” Leroy says looking to Derek with a smile. He puts the deck away.
Niobe starts, as if seeing her wings for the first time. “When did these appear?”
Clifford tilts his head. “Before the wrong-wolves broke in. Seems very useful.”
Leroy tries to sound as suave as he can “Lass, did it hurt ye when ye fell from heaven, angel?” he winks at her as he says it.
Derek rolls his eyes, and goes back upstairs to inform the clients of the new departure time.
Niobe looks like she just can’t even. Mouth agape.
Clifford tilts his head in the other direction, even farther this time.
Eli blinks a few times and then settles down to take a few notes in his book.
Niobe takes a couple of test hops to try out the wings. “Hmm, pretty fast.”
