OSC was famous for writing the Ender's Game series of novels, writing the Insult Swordfighting section of Escape From Monkey Island video game, and various other works of fiction.
Several years ago, a video game company (the guys who made Shadow Complex) hired him to write a series of fictional novels set in their game's world. The intent was to portray a fictional civil war between US liberals and conservatives, with the message highlighting the dangers of political extremism and hateful rhetoric. While promising, the novels' premise fell short in many areas and resembled more a statist "the military's never wrong!" doctrine than a moderate middle ground. I'd recommend checking out the thread to see it for yourself.
