Rrektor the Redeemed:

After being forged ages ago to serve a forgotten kingdom and then living savagely among dragons after the kingdom died out, Rrektor's first memories are actually of him waking up, having forgotten virtually all he'd known. But his first sensation was that something was horribly different. As clarity returned to his eyes and mobility to his body, he sat up in horror. Where once there was steel plating and metal fiber on his living construct body, carved muscles and tissue had sprung into form. He stood immediately, only to abruptly topple backwards onto the stone bier from which he woke. His wings ached.

A voice rang loudly from nearby, "Now, now! Easy goes it! You've got a long.. rather hard.. way to go yet." The short bearded man was engaging in some sort of preparation of spell components on a counter across the room. He was approached by two strange-looking warforged who stood on either side of him. They had some of the features of his forged race, but they seemed to be composed purely of a magically flexable steel. It was almost as if they were golems rather than warforged. And yet, they appeared more manlike than normal warforged for their muscular structure and frame was that of a human. One even lowered his brow toward Rrektor in anticipation of his defiance. And for good reason..

Rrektor lunged at the closest of the two warforged sentinels. Before he connected, the other intercepted him and immediately pinned him.

"Finally, ready! Now, get him back on the bier! He'll want to be horizontal as the transformation sets in,"  he said with a concentrated frown.

"He really is a rare find. A wildling forged for war and blessed by Bahamut. You don't find many of these around, no, no. There weren't a lot of the races of war who were forged outside of the standards. He's nothing compared to a great spell, but a fine brute indeed," he thought aloud.

What is this sorcery?!

[decades later]

He had become an elite soldier for a very paranoid war monger of a wizard who had a keep near the Eastern shores. He served his master with a spell-like loyalty and began to share his love for destruction. Wreaking chaos wherever he was sent, Rrektor the Ravager (as they called him) grew a death lust. He was a one-of-a-kind warforged having been physically shaped by years of savage living and servitude to Bahamut, but mentally shaped as a war golem by his mystical master.

Fate eventually led the wizard's champion guard back to a city where there were many warforged; unknowingly the city where Rrektor was forged. The area had maintained peace for a long period of time and warforged had slowly grown a part of human society. Rather than merely soldiers or guards, you could find them tailoring, dancing (though mostly just a jig known as "The Robot"), and even tending flower gardens.

Rrektor was sent here alone and his assignment was to send a message. He began by slaying the watchmen. Then the police. But so small was the defense of this tranquil city, that he quickly ran out of armed men and warforged to slay. Fifty heads was the number given and he was short nineteen.

The nearest building was a school building. Human children could be heard sobbing and crying inside. He bull rushed the door and sent it flying toward a wall. One little boy ran at him, but Rrektor struck him down like a rabbit taking a cannonball blast. The other children screamed and next a woman stepped up. She ran up to him, beating him futilely on his chest. Her fists began to bleed. Her and the boy made two more. Seventeen to go. One of his eyes began to twitch.

He stepped back into the street and flew to the next block. The children could no longer be heard and he was greeted by silence there. Alone with his thoughts, an old, but familiar voice echoed in his mind. His conscience had returned and the wizards magical influence vanished. Covered in blood, he became ill. Not stomach sick - an illness of the mind as the weight of his many ill deeds began to twist and torment his soul.

"May your deeds weigh upon you like a stone into water," a voice inside his head solemnly whispered.

"And may peace never know your true name."


AAaarghh!! he cried as he shot into the sky flying Westward.

After many days and nights of unending flight, he approached a wonderful city the size of which he had never beheld. Though his stamina had been thus far in his life unwavering, he suddenly became exhausted and his wings gave out while he was hundreds of feet overtop the great town. He plummeted and the last thing he remembered was seeing a flag of a giant bird swaddling its nesting chicks wrap around him and tear right before he passed through the glass of a large building. He lay unconscious, wreathed in the banner of a house he knew nothing of in a town where he was unknown.

He awoke the following day - having slept for the first time in ages - to the sun greeting him through a stained glass window. He had slumbered in some well-kept quarters and was surprised to see the same banner that he vaguely remembered tearing from its pole had covered him during his rest. When he opened the door to exit his quarters, he was greeted by many, "Good morning, brother!" they exclaimed.

"Brother..." he muttered.

"Ah, yes. Do come. We have much to discuss. My name is Chyre and I'm what's known as a 'Redeemer' around here. Do you know much about Redemption?"

[years later]

Addressing a crowd of brothers and sisters of Redemption, "Im sure, brothers. Fail or flourish, I am fated to enter the games this year. I do it not for personal gain, but for the Brotherhood. For my brothers. For Redemption."

 This is CLOSE to finalization. I'm currently torn between picking other feats and/or spells (battle angel in lieu of precise shot mainly) and possibly using the money from either the periapt or the cloak to found a legacy on my Bow instead.

I'm torn between lotus and brotherhood, since she's here to shift the status quo but also wants to make everyone good in doing so. I could join both and eat the -20 in brotherhood's score...

Note about Physical stats: Saniel's true form up there is about as tall as a Deva, which is to say 'freaking tall', she's 7'5". Forms she assume tend to be Ridiculously Photogenic .

Their origins and backgrounds were varied. Their philosophies and methodology encompassed everything under the sun of good. Surviving clergy of Moradin, Pelor, St. Olidammara, Corellan and a few celestial paragons besides comprised their members.  Their desperation was palpable at every step. Just two years ago the harried and persecuted group-by-nescessity of clergy that the Praesidio had come to call 'the Desperados' had against all odds succeeded in acquisition of a divine focus (a a bona fide Solar Angel's feather, if you're curious) needed to allow a ritual to Gate in the creature associated. Fleeing far to the eastern edge of the Imperium's territory ahead of assassins and worse they gathered what they could and completed the ritual in a neglected old bastion.

There was their righteous retribution, their wrath of the heavens manifest. The gate would call forth the strongest member of the strongest order of good outsiders and her heavenly army would strike the Dark God down with righteous anger and furious vengeance, the radient light was fading and out of it strode-

What a bunch of Acolytes and a junior clergy GOT on the center of a platform was Saniel, who stood out from a typical Aasimar in being kind of awkwardly towering over them. Their angel of vengeance didn't even have wings! Despite her assurances to the contrary, they assumed they had failed and had simply gated over some random petitioner, even after she showed off her angelic alternate form capacity by mimicking all their forms in turn. Shaniel was young as the Aasimon tribe reckons things, barely into her second century. Having had the most fun tooling around in Ysgard and expecting a long and unremarkable career as a planar army officer she was rather taken aback to have found she's to be sent to the mortal world to fight evil there. The Desperados brought her up to speed in customs and history as best they were able in a few days out of common decency.

The Desperados disbanded to hopefully shake off the assassins, expecting their wayward magical mistake to vanish into the night and local legends of this backwater province, or seek banishment back to the heavens.

Naturally, they were wrong. Resolved to her purpose in life, Shaniel in one form or another took up arms and made her way to the capital. The angel of today is less naive and more powerful, and a simple show of her true nature in secret to the brotherhood earned her acceptance there. Now on the advice of the Brotherhood, she enters the grand magic games to gain the power, both mystical and social, to begin the revolution to good.

Joutaro was the son of a couple that had been executed for heresy many years prior. To spare him the same fate, his master and adoptive father used his influence as a member of the Brotherhood of Redemption and took him in under his wing.

Everyone agreed, however, that Sagittarius Joseph was a little looney.

Joutaro grew up being taught a variety of martial skills and codes of honor, but next to no common sense outside of that particular field of expertise. As a result, he's constantly spouting off nonsense that appears very cool in-context, but is just about crazy and hammy out of context.

Joutaro is basically a huge ham wrapped in bacon. He speaks most of the time as if he's the main character of a story that makes little sense but is caked in awesome despite how ludicrously absurd it is. He believes in redemption through savage beatings; sometimes he forgets evil has to stay ALIVE in order to redeem itself. Any opponents smart enough to realize this trend will be better off surrendering immediately, because he doesn't know when to stop.

And yes, he calls out his attacks. Often. Loudly.

Well, allegiances aside, I'd say this is pretty much done.

In a dilapidated, hardscrabble corner of Gratis is a neighborhood called the Otyugh's Pantry. For many years this collection of run down buildings and equally run down people was one of the nastiest, least desirable places in the city. Always corrupt, here the Watch was all but nonexistant. Such justice as was done was performed by gangs of thugs, interested only in their masters' profit margins. It was the sort of place that the criminals from more respectable parts of the city went to when they needed something or someone not available in their own territory.

This was the status quo in the Pantry for as long as most residents could remember. Anyone who found themselves living there was, as a rule, too weak and too down on their luck to do anything about it. Until a year or so ago when things started to change. Slowly but inexorably, the worst of the gangs left or fragmented or were taken out by other neighborhoods who didn't bother to move into the new territory. Otyugh's Pantry got gradually quieter and safer, though none of the residents could tell you how or why exactly.

In fact, the changes were due to a small time halfling fence and information broker, calling himself Kal o' Dair ("clever thief," probably a pseudonym.) No one in the area knew him before he set up shop but he seemed to know the area better than many who had lived there all their lives. In truth, Otyugh's Pantry was a proof of concept for Kal. He wanted to see if his influence could change a neighborhood for the better and the experiment was a success. The next step is to implement his plan on a larger scale, and for that he needs some high level clout. Fortunately, the Brotherhood is assembling a team for the games. Looks like a perfect opportunity to move up in the world.
