I find myself in the interesting position of helping put together a campaign for a Mahou Shojo (Magical Girl) game. Funnily enough I seem to be doing the most work, so I've decided to ask for help from the boards.

A few basic points.

The Shared Skies, refers to the fact that multiple worlds are being drawn together by an outside force, and the Magical Girl traditions of each world (or Devil Hunters, not entirely picky) are being targeted and forced to work together.

This multiworld, was done so that you could have different types of Magical Girl classes without a ton of backstory into how one world developed so many different kinds.  It also carries into my BBEG.

The BBEG for this campaign is not fully fleshed out yet, but the general idea is that it expends energy in order to devour worlds, regaining energy from devouring and gaining even more power in the process. It is doing this multiworld instead of 1 by 1 because the energy expended to devour is not worth the returns of any 1 world, several are needed.

I'm currently juggling a few ideas, mostly on what information I need and what from prospective players as part of an application.

For character basis, I'm debating using the Main Aspects of the FATE core system.
  High Concept
  Trouble
  Filler 1
  Filler 2

needing to be included somewhere within those needs to be something relating to personality.

This will also be used within game. Mostly as a change to the Action Point system. Either to replace the gain by level method, or to supplement it for a slower leveling game.

Also a small questionaire with basic stuff like
What class do you wish to use
Was your character a solo Defender or member of a team
Who were your bad guys and have you defeated them  (the undefeated ones could be brought in at some point)

and so on and so forth.

Anyone who would like to help me work on this would be greatly appreciated, otherwise I'll just begin fleshing everything out here.

Edit, just realized something else. Wealth and magical girls. Aside from boosting equipment Magical Girls don't usually seem the type to go after Loot, so what should I do with this. Keep as normal or perhaps do something like Os's Hoard feat for each character?

Other RPGs / PTU Does anyone play?
« on: December 21, 2015, 01:36:02 AM »
Looking around for a site to play around with PTU 1.05 (Pokemon Tabletop United) since I only recently picked it up. I think I have a handle on the basic rules but I want some experience with the system.

I'm not looking to GM myself, so the whole question kind of hinges upon finding a GM that'll tolerate me, and possibly a player or two to goof off with me.

Cheers

General D&D Discussion / A Decisive Choice: 3.5 or Pathfinder Apocalypse
« on: December 14, 2015, 01:40:04 AM »
Yes Yes another Apocalypse game. Who hasn't seen a dozen or more of them proposed with nothing more than a few rules on how money works, how rare items are and certain magic is, and how often you find friendly people?

Well I want to do it right and proper. In a rather simple example I want to see how The Elder Scrolls fare when they meet October 23, 2077 Fallout time, and then you add 200 years or so.

Pathfinder takes an early lead in this conflict by having preset Technological material for inclusion as well as a race builder for engineering some interesting denizens for this mixed realm.

3.5 though has no shortage of material to read through, but I am having difficulty finding Technological material to look at, home-brew, cross-compatible, or otherwise. If I could get ahold of d20 Modern and Future to get a peek at them I could probably make a decision, but I haven't been able to so far.

Now I'm turning to the community to ask,

Which would you choose for this scenario/setting, and Why?

Other RPGs / Star Wars SAGA: Opinions on a not so overpowered CT combo
« on: October 24, 2015, 12:48:40 AM »
the CT killers, combos which can take down anything short of a colossal space ship with one round of actions.

Among this myriad of atrocious loopholes and exploits I seek a far more tame approach that won't see my RL group throwing my character into the paper shredder. And then burning the scraps, before burying the ashes, and then forcing amnesia via blunt force trauma.....

I have never gotten to make use of it, but the Scoundrel's *Brigand* Talent tree possesses a nice little article called Easy Prey.
Upon successfully landing an attack upon a foe, I may half my damage from that blow to make said foe flat footed against all my attacks until the end of my next turn.
Unfortunately this Talent requires Cheap Trick as a prerequisite which is not nearly as nice in my eyes, but it can be used towards flavoring the character.

With Dastardly Strike this requires 5 levels of Scoundrel for a 2 turn -1 on the CT (-2 if the initial blow is a surprise attack)

However, turn the character into a dual wielder as either a double blaster or going into the Master Privateer prestige for Blaster and Blade and the CT will tick down faster.
2 turns potential -4 on the CT, not guaranteed, but likely.

I'm looking for advice on either good alternatives or ways to nicely augment this combo, like size large Master Priv. with Stunning Strike.

This game is starting with character level 5.

(and please, no ideas that create an infinite darkside score like the Shatterpoint/Memory Walk combination causes)

Play By Post / [Interest Check] 3.5 Prototype
« on: December 22, 2014, 05:31:09 PM »
Hey all, running a check for an idea I got hit with yesterday while replaying Prototype 2 with something my friend said. I doubt I'd gm it as I'm well aware I'm a poor pbp gm and I'd much rather play.

The idea is that the party is either a group of fresh prototypes or perhaps an elite team of Evolved.
Either way through some kind of incident our team ends up being warped into one of the many multitudes of D&D verses. Being in a strange world away from all we know, working together to survive this land seems to be our only chance.

General details follow as such

The tech generated warp was highly damaging. Our biomass was ripped apart and much was destroyed rendering us much weaker than we were. [Start at Level 5]
It also destroyed almost every dimensional trace that could be used to send us back. [No Extraplanar subtype, count as Native to starting plane]

Essentially we will be taking all 3 levels of Oslecamo's Mind Stealer Drone, and the choices from there are what individualize us.

Any input/feedback would be welcome. It's certainly a decent start but I'm certain it could use some refinement.

Introduce Yourself / Rekmond signing on

yo, finally registering on here even though I've been shadowing the D&D 3.5E material for a while.

I play a lot of 3.5 E, Pathfinder, and some 5E as well. Outside the d&d locale I also do some stuff in Star Wars Saga edition.

I live in Wilkes County, North Carolina in the USA.

I tend to frequent Rpol and occasionally Roll20.
