Sam

The leaves abruptly align and explode into a humanoid figure composed of overlapping leaves and scraps of paper, slashing at Scattershot's back with a long blade of leaves as it rises, only for him to stop short before even getting close, as if he struck an invisible barrier, then dispersing once again, "Where the hell is Ronin anyway??"

Sam resists - barely - the urge to bury his face in his hands. How did Scattershot miss that? Almost curious to see if the failures will keep compounding, he stays quiet, watching the leaves to see what Leaf Ronin tries next.

"Hey! Leafy! If you don't stop hiding I'll just crush everything like last time!", the wind swirls into a vortex above Scattershot, Sam could feel his ears pop as the pressure rises, sucking up the debris in the area into the vortex.

A moment later he can see Leaf Ronin's hand flailing from the vortex.

Sam gets Scattershot's attention and points up toward the disembodied hand. "Uh, I think he's...ready to fight properly now."

"Oh cool. Thanks."  The vortex continues spinning for a few more minutes, before dumping the completely disorientated Leaf Ronin on the ground, who proceeds to puke his breakfast out, "I win again Evildoer! Didn't I tell you to stop sneaking up on people like that?"

On second thought, Kiley's stomach is growling as it is. Rather than going to the store right away, she instead settles for stopping by her room and having breakfast in peace before going out for a replacement. On the way, she checks her phone regularly. No call could mean Sam's fine, or the opposite. But she has no idea where he is, in any case.

While Leaf Ronin is busy probably wishing he could make like a tree, Sam surreptitiously shoots Kiley another text.

City park if you feel like watching.

Sam pockets his phone in time to watch Leaf Ronin fall out of the vortex, wincing in sympathy. At least, as much sympathy as he can manage. He never really got motion sickness before his trigger event, and now he could ride a roller coaster and feel like he was sitting completely still in a chair.

"Well, that was faster than I was expecting..."

"Such is the power of justice!" Leaf Ronin is levitated and then towed some distance behind, still too shaken up to move, "Now we'll wait for him to wake up and surrender before going on patrol. There's work to do!

Sam smiles and nods, lips pressed firmly together in case the sound of grinding teeth escapes. At this rate he'd be lucky to get back in time for dinner.

Leaf Ronin finally crawls to his feet, unsteady and his samurai armor of fallen leaves showing more holes than solid bits, "Urgh, was that really necessary, Scattershot. You didn't even stop to let me surrender..."

Scattershot doesn't seem to take any notice of the complaining, turning to leave the park, on foot this time, apparently uninterested in giving a villain an airlift, "Ah good, you're up, you're on probation for now! Come on, you have work to do! Seen any crime lately?

"Oh come on, it's raining, who'd come out to make trouble when it's wet?"
"Evil never sleeps!"

Sam opens his mouth, decides against saying anything, and shuts it again before traipsing after the other two Specials, shaking his head. This should be interesting, if nothing else.

The hero, villain and 'civilian' head out into the streets, the rain cutting off visibility, and soaking everything except for a bubble around Scattershot. Perhaps thankfully, it's peaceful out, with the rain keeping the non-waterproof villains indoors.

Then Sam spies Leaf Ronin glancing at something, then looking away. Following his gaze, he spots a van some distance away, parked outside a shop, and four big burly men heading into the shop, looking like trouble. Scattershot is walking along, having not noticed a thing.

Shooting a frown at Leaf Ronin's back, Sam doesn't pause for very long before speaking up. "Hey, Scattershot, over there...those guys don't look like they're out to pick up some eggs and milk."

"Ooo, good eye!"Leaf Ronin shoots Sam a dirty look, then his eyes widen, as he suddenly goes flying into the shop, followed by Scattershot approaching at a walk,"STOP EVILDOERS! Surrender in the name of  JUSTICE!"

As he reaches the door of the shop, he stomps his foot down, and the van goes spinning off to hit the ground a distance away with a crunch. Sam can see the shop better at this distance, an electronics store, with a row of televisions near the front, and  Leaf Ronin inside, now a cloud of spinning leaves, while the thugs are drawing their guns.

Figuring he'd better stay out of the way, Sam sprints for cover near the storefront, forcing himself to rein in the speed and only move as fast as a regular human would. Well, maybe just a hair faster. The thugs do have guns, after all.

Kiley checks Sam's latest text as she's gorging herself on chocolate donuts back in her room before going out for a new zapper. With a raised eyebrow, she decides to just call him. If he has the time to type out text messages, it can't be that bad.

The thugs fire wildly at the leaves, with Leaf Ronin clearly unaffected, though the shop's display is badly mauled by the flying bullets. Leaf Ronin meanwhile, immediately exits the shop, and Sam can see why a moment later, as every bit of glass and plastic inside the shopfront shatter as if by a bomb blast, obscuring sight of what's inside in a cloud of shrapnel.

Sam pokes his head over the cover, gaping at the destruction. It's mostly an act, but he's still genuinely impressed by the sheer level of power Scattershot has. "Good grief..." He slowly approaches the storefront, checking to make sure everyone inside is still alive.

Scattershot looks at Sam approaching, "They'll be fine, it's just air."

Inside, the shopkeeper is apparently out cold, as are the thugs. As he steps closer however, one arm suddenly sweeps up and fires straight at Sam. The thug was playing dead!

Taken aback by the surprise attack - and by the phone in his pocket suddenly going off - Sam nevertheless manages to move just far enough out of the shot's path that it merely rips a hole in his jacket instead of his shoulder. "What the f-" Instinctively he takes a swing at the thug before the unpleasant realization that Scattershot is standing outside hits him, and he makes a break for the door before any more bombs can go off.
