3.5 Web Enhancements down
« on: July 30, 2014, 02:58:23 PM »
So all the 3.5 Web Enhancements appear to have been taken down, both the collection page and the individual pages are missing. Anyone know if they're hosted elsewhere? There's some neat stuff in there, it'd be a shame to lose it all.

Just checked on whether or not the Swiftblade page was up as well, looks like they took down all the old 3.5 stuff. Does anyone think they'll put it back up, or should we start putting together an archive of our own?
What would you think if I sang out of tune?

I'd say that it is safe to assume that it intentionally is lost to the ethers.
Go go Gadget Wayback Machine!

That blows.
It was also inevitable they'd do this ... writing on the wall when fluff articles went down.
But still -1 wotc ...  :tdown

Has someone made a huge pile of downloads?
I know we have the original addresses in the various Free D&D link pages (hence wayback-able).

edit --- I just tried the psi Mind's Eye section and got ...
http://dnd.wizards.com/go/arch/psi as the address.
That is not the old 7+ year address.
And there's a new Technical Difficulties tag up (new compared to previous).
Maybe they've just got a site re-org going on.
In which case it'll be as bad as Here Come Your 19th Forums Breakdown ...  ;)
(until somewhat fixed, of course)

Just tried a specific page within Mind's Eye and got a brand new
and rather spiffy looking Incarnum Lich with Error 404.

This is why no one likes WotC anymore. The funny thing is they do this with each new edition, but act like its some accident that everything conveniently went down the memory hole. I can't wait until they do that with 4e to see that crowd's reaction

I have the Savage Progressions rules info saved as a text file. Would be happy to post it wherever is convenient.

The wayback machine automatically transforms links into archived links. Also, thankfully, it has an archive of the guide to free D&D from a few days before the articles were removed, so the archive links should all work without a hitch.

+1 to all of the above.
 :( :)

EDIT
Craiconn found (perhaps) the newest address

http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/dnd

They are still under the Wizards Archives URL .... including Rule of the Games.

Checking around a bit, the last version he seemed to release is 1-3, and there's no where left hosting it.
2.2 gigs archived, 3 gigs unpacked. Not exactly easy to host.

Maybe we could create an account on a filesharing site somewhere? Perhaps use Mega's service...

Looks like this works for ANY old address. Just swap the www. at the front for archive. and the old URL structure will work.

I'm finding some exceptions to the global prefix swap of "www" to "archive".  So there's certainly some proprietary customization process (or just plain old sloppy forgetfulness) going on at WotC HQ.

Don't count me surprised.

Some of the old addresses already had [archive] or [wotc-archive]
and/or other intermediate tags and re-tags on them.

Link Rot ...  :fu
