The Pyrokinetic Handbook: Turning up the Heat - by snakeman830
« on: November 23, 2011, 02:44:49 AM »
"The secret to destruction is simple: Everything burns."  -Jaya Ballard, task mage

Pyrokineticists are considered to be one of the weakest PrC's because of their extreme focus on fire.  One might say the lack of flexibility is weak, but it might be worth looking again.

First off, many say that the Pyro is useless because everyone and their mother is resistant to fire.  This is more or less true, but you're sending enough heat at your enemies that resistance is nothing more than DR to you: you're not as effective, but you're still burning them alive.  The stumbling block comes when you run up against creatures immune to fire. The PrC only has one answer to that (pointed out below).

Minor nitpick, but it's Pyrokineticist.

Whatcha got planned for the other 4 energy -kineticists? I'm kinda curious what could be worth the hubbub of 4 reserved posts. Unless you mean (at least for cryo-) the Cryokineticist PrC from Frostburn or something.

ah, so it is. i didn't error check the post much when i ported it over.

i figured that there might be options specific to energy types that might be useful to the various energy classes. so i threw in the posts, just in case. the variant from frostburn will also receive a mention in the cryo section.

The Frostburn PrC isn't a variant, it's a completely different PrC that fails miserably.  It is, in all ways, inferior to the Pyrokinetecist.

i will duly note it as such. i don't have that book, so the only cryo i'm familiar with is the web article.
