As I mentioned earlier, I was thinking of doing a dungeoncrasher Bloodstorm Blade kind of deal focused on bull rush, tripping, and dazing through aptitude boomerang, but I'm honestly not sure how well it'll work overall.  As much as I comment on rules and such I'm still fairly inexperienced when it comes to actual play.  I'm pretty sure I won't be doing a cleric (or other class with lots of spell options) again for a while because my lack of spell knowledge is probably what caused my last group to no longer invite me.

Depending on how I get that build going I might go for warlock instead with primordial half-ogre.  This one is more likely to be interesting in this campaign since such a character will definitely turn a few heads.

I guess what I'm really trying to figure out is, how well would a Yuan-ti fit into the setting? How many Yuan-Ti are there already? Is he like the only one in the city? Or would he be part of a secret organization of other Yuan-Ti? If he were to follow another deity, which one would it be?(most settings seem to have different Yuan-Ti deities). I'm just getting the feeling that a full-blown Yuan-Ti might not be the best idea for this campaign.

 :???

Sorry SV, I wasn't ignoring you, just didn't get to this yet.  There isn't a full-blown Yuan-ti society.  I hadn't really thought about whether or not they would be very present.  My guess is there are at most a few... the Dark God doesn't like other deities horning in on his jurisdiction, and I don't know that Yuan-ti in general would be interested in following the Dark God.  So there might be a few, maybe even joining the Red Lotus and working to overthrow the Church so they can start subverting everyone on their own terms.

Alright, I've got myself narrowed down to Anchorite, Dragonheart Adept, Elemental Adept, or Spellshape Champion.

Did you see Spellshot Marksman?

Playing a Hadouken-style Bloodstorm Blade Dungeoncrasher can be a whole lot of fun.  I can give you some tips for setting that up, since I've done a few similar builds (theoretical and for another game that died).  However, if you'd like to play a warlock, go for it.

We also haven't even scratched the surface of all the homebrew that's out there... lol.  How about a Dovahkiin?  Or a Dementist?

My character is mostly finished, only thing missing is spending 130 GP for trivial stuff like food and rope.

What I have so far:

Izdrania, Mistress of fire.
...
The combination of the Torturous enchantment and Paragon Proficiency is absolutely golden :)

Just to point out that you need proficiency with all simple and martial weapons, heavy armor and one exotic weapon to qualify for paragon proficiency.

Shapesand can cover everything but the food. It's like a Spell Component Pouch for non-casters.  :P

Okay, I have it narrowed down a liiiiitle bit more.

Anchorite / Ardent Soulshaper - Focus on Buffing and Support

Dragonheart Adept - Melee beast, Spellshaping/Maneuvers/Draconic Invocations, slowly turns into a dragon

Elemental Adept - Ranged support, possible elemental companion depending on ACFs, castery stuff

Thoughts?

Yea, I know. Working on that at the moment but I cant decide on either dropping a dragon level for fighter or delaying paragon by one.

Thank you for the info. But yeah that's what I kinda figured, either little to no other yuan-ti. If I'm going to play a Yuan-ti I'd really want it to be a full blown abomination who goes into cleric once his racial class progression is complete. Which makes it kinda difficult if he's not worshiping The Dark God, I'd also want him to be part of a Yuan-ti community/sect/organization/agency/etc(which would be pretty much needed for the body transformations and such). The only other idea I have is the cliched orphaned background, a Yuan-ti raised by the Church(though not sure how that would even work out due to the special potions and such needed for each body transformation). What are your thoughts?

As for everyone else? What party role is this team missing? Looks like we have melee/martial/tank/etc covered with some arcane and skill monkey coverage, is that correct?

In the event that the Yuan-Ti Abomination Cleric doesn't work out(which I don't think it will, but great if it can), which character concept would benefit the team the most?

Cleric of The Dark God, probably human.

Sniper

Magi Liscenced Generalist Wizard

Dread Necromancer

The way I read it, you can totally be a part of a Yuan-Ti group just fine, it just won't be a "full-blown society" as sirpercival put it. More like a secret cult working from the underground to advance their agenda. Which is how yuan-ti usually operate in most settings now that I think about it, since the yuan-ti are usually on the evil side of the scales (even by other evil society's standards), with the whole capturing humanoids to corrupt and worshiping a deity of world destruction.

I'm on the same page with osle on this one.  That's why I suggested Red Lotus -- all about overthrowing the status quo.  There could be  there could be an entire cell of Yuan-Ti in the Red Lotus.  Another possibility is to take Dragontouched or something and have the Yuan-Ti be double-playing the Chorrun Char.  Use the CC as a patsy to take out the Imperium, then (since the CC may be more easily infiltrated) corrupt that from the inside.

And if neither of those work, I could write up a Yuan-Ti affiliation.  I'd rather leave that as a last resort (I have enough affils to wrangle as it is), but it's more important to me that you play the character you want to play.

Aye, however the problem is not worshipping the Dark God heh. The Yuan-ti abomination might just be a character concept best saved for another campaign. I don't have to have the yuan-ti be a cleric, but I'd like to. Think that's the best use for them/most optimized choice. Maybe even going into the PrC in Savage Species(forget the name).

Edit: If I decide to do a non-cleric Yuan-ti, I'd probably have him be a member of the Red Lotus. But this would be the first time I've played a rebel character, so might need some help heh. Do the Yuan-ti have a deity in this setting?

I've been trying to find an appropriate monster hybrid build but nothing's working out the way I want, versatility-wise. I'm currently looking into other options. Would it be accurate to say we need more spellcasting? Or are we lacking in a tank or any other roles? I guess I could just look at the already posted sheets, but maybe we need a quick list of everyone's specialties so we can more easily reference it?

I'm waiting to see what everybody else picks and I'll just fill whatever perceived gaps I find.  I'm having issues narrowing my list down to less than three choices.

I thought there were already two melee types and then a Arcane/Skillmonkey so far

-2 to CL hurts a little, but as long as you focus on buffing, as a cleric should anyway, it isn't that bad at 6th level.

A straight Yuan-Ti character would work too. Either way, count me in for joining a conspiracy to overthrow the dudes in charge!

Well, if you want versatility I would sugest the pixie. Not exactly the manliest monster around, but has a nice amount of SLAs, skills, spellcasting, flying and with the campaign buff to weapon finesse and archery could easily out in combat as well, all for just 5 levels. Which leaves you another level for multiclassing.

Would it be accurate to say we need more spellcasting? Or are we lacking in a tank or any other roles? I guess I could just look at the already posted sheets, but maybe we need a quick list of everyone's specialties so we can more easily reference it?
I'm the skill monkey rat, littha is going for a dragon tank, I believe we don't have any of the other roles covered yet.

That's two levels though, another idea is just to ask The Dark God for sponsorship, overthrow the Imperium and get attonment from true deity.  :plotting

Starting off though, he'd be a Level 6 Yuan-ti Abomination with plans to go into cleric at level 8.

Could go with a Firre Eladrin for support and spellcasting.  Which would be hilarious in the same party as a Yuan-Ti, but they'd be on the same side if you're Red Lotus.

=/=?      At level 8, he'd be a 8th level caster, -2 CL for not worshiping The Dark God would make him a 6th level caster. So that's possibly a loss of 2d, 2 minutes, 2 rounds, 2 hours, etc

Edit: Which raises the question(third time now  :P ) which Yuan-ti Deity does this settng use? Standard D&D one?

Edit 2: Already have a planned Red Lotus member in the party?

Also liking the idea of a Human Cleric of the Dark Lord. Would be alot more simple than the Yuan-ti, so not sure. Need a bit more information and such first.

Seems one of the gaps is a Divine Caster.

Edit: Also, wouldn't a large snake creature be uhhh.....rather obvious...?   :-\
