< off topic --- yeah I figured, the warning though still stands.  Hopefully that never shows round here. >

If the Karsus Avatar (or wtf) spell is Level 12, I suppose a "Lesser Deicide" spell that would work on demigawds is Level 13.
So then there's a Mass Lesser Deicide perhaps a level 16.  And working it on up some more, to replicate what the Spellplague did ...

Killing a Plane is tricky to measure.
The Draeden are sleeping/waiting out the Gawds, and one of them is either a layer of the abyss or the whole abyss.
They were assuming / "knowledge-ing" they could do so ... meaning to kill a plane is to un-do fluff assumptions that are 40+ years old and multi-editional.

Gate could bring in a Psion 7 / Planar Vanguard 10.
And that dude could have mindswapped with his psicrystal that's now a Genesis Demiplane.
So that's transporting a small and limited demiplane.

Gate + Linked + PowerWordKill + boosted even further = epic spell with a DC in the 60s.
And that's only killing a lowly level 17 npc (ho hum) demiplane.
otoh ... a psicrystal + the demiplane abiilty, are both (su) and technically don't work in an Anti-Magic Field.
Well targeted level 6 spell = dead demiplane.

PsyWar 2 with soulknife-y acf says :  "Hey, that's a good idea.  Lemme try that."

164
hmm  :??? lots here to go on.

Grand History Of The Realms book, is trans-/multi- editional.
It specifically says so.  However 5e wasn't on the table at that time.
idk what wotc "official" statements have been made since maybe 2010 onward.

I don't think it's known what Know(Religion) or Know(Arcana)
check DCs are necessary to find out what the Archerons
the gawds are warring amongst themselves about.
Commoners can hit DC 29s straightforwardly, so it's gotta be higher than that.

 :tongue
Paladins fall.  They aren't trained in tumble and have armor check penalties.
Paladins die too.  Over and over.  They're the reason resurrection got invented.

2 ways to double your money = June 2019.

That brings a 1*1*1800 item down to 450 gp, which is
within the range of Mercantile feat at level 1 starting.

The average commoner 1 in any particular town
still can't carry it = limited to the "treasure" 300 gp,
but they've got it stashed safely at home < 900 gp.
A small place, quite unassuming really.

How many 1st level spells are there (+ there) ?

I had the occasion to badly interrogate grumpy old relatives.
Their mem'ries ain't as gooder as the interwebs, but the clues are good enough.

One of the distant ethnic names translates with dialect problems as "generous druid".
Another got anglicized -- by someone with an agenda -- as Dickbois (clearly not yet literate).
Found a killer, and a more interesting horsethief.  Found some less-than-forking.
If your baptismal name is :  " In'Twalvoord " , and the census taker is being paid by the hour ...

D&D 5e / Re: Point buy and a bonus feat, interesting characters?
« on: June 13, 2019, 04:40:46 PM »
I got close to the Cleric 1 / Lore X build, 'cept
with Divine Soul Sorc 1, and not your steed focus.
It was fun for the party to be handed a d4 or d8
especially when somebody did something (stupid shhh).
Mediocre BFC and made sure I survived to bring back
the ones who did something (really) stupid (ahem).

Getting the Inspired Leadership feat at level 1 is great.
Doing it with any Not Variant Human, is pretty spiffy.
Do you need Aura of Vitality with all the other heal options?
Start Stuff did a Lore + Steeds guide :

Most recent Warforged is AC galore.  The Necro army
is absolutely c.o. fun, but quite unwieldy and some
of the party may not understand wtf is going on.
(either in character or out)  Still personally like it.

Fighter Rogue Archer would be stepping on some party toes
and might get thrown to frontlining + meatshielding too often.
Chance at a bonus feat on the feat stack class tho' is tempting.

(1) ... Death Rock from BoVD.  Here's what I rambled about it during the ruleofcool era :
http://www.ruleofcool.com/smf/index.php/topic,658.0.html
comment :  kinda solves necromancy, and allows bridging it to any type of character, too bad it's dm fiat.  Intentional intra-party strife, isn't well handled by 40+ years of d&d guidelines, but hollywood does this with most every tv show = players can model it and probably make it work.

(2) ... 3e Mace of St. Cuthbert is a small but odd pile of mail-it-in writing, especially with being paid by the word.
" ... the Mace of Cuthbert is essentially a +5 holy lawful mace of disruption (effectively a +11 weapon) with a special power (searing light at 20th level at will). According to the epic magic item creation rules, this item would have a market price of approximately 2,500,000 gp. A character who wished to wield a replica of the Mace of Cuthbert could have such an item created. It wouldn't be the actual Mace, but it would be essentially identical in function."
Epic Level Handbook, p.150
comment :  Here's the rules, here's total contradiction of said rules. (get paid anyway)

(3) ... the Rod Of Seven Parts, is by far the most written about artifact in d&d history, both in-game and out.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_of_Seven_Parts#Publication_history
comment :  didn't float my boat back then, interesting pile of d&d history now

BoVD has the ritual sacrifice (+thrallherd) and the Souleater.
But I think the "soul" part is just fluff, the mechanics are something else.

MoI has the Soul-Fused Construct.
Normally constructs don't have a soul.
I never read the Eberron fluff about Warforged
if they occupy an in-between status or what.

Most of MoI deals with souls in general.
iirc the mechanics translate more like spellcasting, than even mentioning "souls".
Doing a dumpster dive there, plus all the fluff too ... would get something.

Shout out for the Riddick scene of the Lord Marshal ripping the soul out of the protesting leader of Helion Prime.

Everybody needs a break sometime.

Demographics in Eberron

Demographics in Eberron, eh?
I like it.
Small but noticeable changes from the DMG.
Down 1% of Commoners, transferred to 1% Magewrights.
Cities go +2 , +4 , +6 , +8 , instead of +3 , +6 , +9 , +12 (and presumably no "Planar Metropolis" boost either).
The classes list is a little confusing.
It squeezes the NPC classes in with the PC classes.
Many of the classes have a "footnote" number tagged on,
instead of a proper superscript # indicating which footnote.
Rather confusing.
No super boosted 5% Druid or Ranger in Thorps.
d8 + 8 metropolis results are capped at level 15 (not the indicated 16).
But yeah, somewhere there's a single Artificer crafting out 9s.

There's slightly more magic available at the low end,
slightly less at the high end.

No worries.

The "Golarion Cleric"
( Not a cleric that happens to be in the golarion setting)
makes a perfectly functional Tier 2 Paladin substitute/replacement.

Tome of Ancient Lore from Complete Divine has a 90% chance each day to hold any arcane spell. It's a relic so you have to take True Believer (or be a theurge to use it). Even if you can't copy spells from it (though RAW only the location changes so you can still work to understand it one day then copy it the next), using a normal spellbook for your staples and this to have a good chance of getting any situational spell you want is solid. This is especially so if you leave slots open and prepare them as you meet problems since preparing spells from it takes half the time.

Quote
the tome of ancient lore (and copies made since the original left Boccob’s library) is cursed with a deliberately confusing, everchanging system of cross-referencing. The pages within the tome rearrange themselves, apparently at random. Finding anything useful by browsing is impossible,
...

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.
Right up there with Apprentice(Spellcaster) and Warlock 12.

I could'a laid out a laconic :  " ... h e y ... duuuude ... "
but that might not be entirely accurate, see Dictum Mortuum
might (I'm not saying he is, he's been away for quite a while)
be a Druid, in which case saying :  " ... h e y ... druuuu-id ... "
would have been more appropriate.

So I err'd on the side of his last project (which could do in anyone really).

No idea about Sand giant, but if you're getting the same mega-buff idk it's OK.

Sure a PsyWar will work, it's much more complicated, and someone in the party
will blame something interesting you do on "psionics is broken".

Another option :
Cleric works as a bruiser just fine.  And you get all the 9s Full Casting goodies.
No in-combat healing.  Easier than PsyWar, could be mixed with Warblade.

Stone Giant has both details.
Abilities:    Str 27, Dex 15, Con 19, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 11
+16 Strength, +4 Dexterity, +8 Constitution, +2 Wisdom.

If your DM will allow it, hey fine, it'll help low level survival for sure.
Half-Dragon template too, why not, I'll take that.

Stone Giant has Barbarian as a favored class.
Pounce Barb 1 is a euphemism for a specific acf
but whichever Barb 1 ability floats your boat, works.
Then go Warblade +X.
Perfectly acceptable build, doesn't need any massaging at all.

Plus you get to save money on arrows, as in you don't need them.
You can act like the Smart Hulk in Avengers Endgame.
Rahr smash horsecart, seems gratuitous but hey I'll do it.
