I'm a computer guy and can remotely diagnose things with the magic of the internet if need be.

What can I do for you in exchange for such a huge favor?

Schedule a day and time with me.  Discord would probably be easiest, but you can also just PM me.

I am pretty sure it's a power issue. I'm in a shed, where the air conditioner turning up to compensate for heat outside is enough to make the lights flicker.

Heat makes it worse, since the AC and the PC have fans at full blast. It was doing this after a full internal cleaning, so that's out. I'm unfortunately not nimble enough to extract the PC from its location and clean it again right now, as it's approximately twice the size of a traditional PC tower.

Turning my game settings down to potato mode reduces the crashing, so I suspect the GPU running on full definitely exacerbates the issue (lending credence to the power being the problem) there's nothing in the windows event viewer beyond unexpected power loss, and no extreme temps being shown in SpeedFan.

I am pretty sure it's a power issue.
If so your lights should dim right before the computer kicks off, which then in all likelihood come back to full strength after your computer is no longer draining the power.

Your solution for that is an Uninterrupted Power Supply (ups). They range from 20usd for around 120 joules to a couple thousand. Through you can redneck one using an old car battery, charger, and converter. When power fails for a bit it's not a big issue since your computer runs off a neary evercharging battery.

A UPS definitely sounds like the way to go.  I would recommend against rednecking one, computers are finicky about their power.

Or while anyone's pants were somewhere besides firmly secured to their waist, using the waistband.  I wouldn't put it past some people to just put pants on their head and go to town.

I was once again reminded today of how much I depend on those around me to maintain my mental health. One of my best friends got a boyfriend yesterday, which means we will be spending a lot less time together, and that time will be decidedly less...intimate.

On one hand, I'm happy for her because she really needs someone new in her life.  :clap
On the other hand, this is devastating for my mental health upkeep, as she's been a sort of anchor for me lately.  :bigeyes

Gotta put those big boy pants on and deal with my own shit again.

Went to format my new SSD and accidentally formatted my main hard drive instead.  The main things I want to get back are all my bookmarks (easily over 1,000 by now...) and also Factorio saves and I see there are ways of getting data back if it hasn't been overwritten but it costs a wee bit of money even for a regular DIY program.  Bleh

But I did get the SSD split up into a couple drives so one has my OS and the other has whatever stuff I want to be speedy.  Made one hell of a difference in Path of Exile load times, that's for sure.

Boss just called yesterday and asked me two work 10 to 10 the next two days. Apparently K_ walked out and is refusing to answer her phone.

So 9 am I get a call and am told I dont need t come in early. K_ is there when I arrive. Apparently she said "fuck it, I quit" at 8 am yesterday, and showed back up to work today after changing her mind. And the boss let her. I notice K_s hours are posted, and she's listed as Open on the schedule after today, meaning she's done. So naturally I ask if she's quit. She points at schedule and says "I had to go home sick and this is what she (boss) does to me. I go for first route and ask boss if she still needs me tomorrow and she says we'll see. Apparently K_ has now changed her mind again adn given two weeks notice.

*inhaels*

So I got the call at 8 am. K_'s shift partner called an hour before work saying he was too drunk to come in. Supposedly he has been written up, which will make tomorrow interesting. K_ is at doctors appointment filling out papers for her workers comp suit when I arrive. I am told HR will be calling her today or tomorrow to tell her she is on double super probation, and is fiired if she makes even the tiniest infraction. They didn't call today, which means more joy fo tomorrow. Right after I arrive an ambulance is on scene. K_ comes back and announces she's done doing routes so to take my time. While I'm in receiving there's an old man (truck driver) asking to see someone. I find him a tow motor driver, and when I come back it looks as though someone has stabbed him in the right arm with an ice pick. There is blood literally running down his arm onto the floor. I point this out to him and his response is "Oh! Okay, thank you." And then he goes back to chatting to the tow motor driver.

I also learned the Orkin man visits often enough he has his own badge...

Well maybe he had already been seen by the crew but he was just too busy for them too?

If the Ork kin Man visited less, you'd have all the cock-roaches you'd ever need!  Maybe some trained antz.

My bad, my writing was poor.  The ambulance was gone already.  This guy seemed ok when I met him and 2 minutes later he's bleeding like hell.
