That's where I saw him from...  I didn't remember until you said that.

I expect they'll find a replacement, although whatever filming they've done already will almost certainly have to be changed.  They might have to do a Gladiator when Oliver Reed died and they had to use body doubles and then digitally change the face.  Though I expect today that would be much easier than back in 2000.

Title: Re: Celebrity Death Thread
Post by: VennDygrem on February 05, 2014, 07:47:30 PM
Actually, apparently PSH had finished most of his filming with only one or two key sequences from 'part 2' of the third movie to complete. They say it won't impact filming. Most likely they'll find a way to insert him where needed. Unused footage, body doubles, CG, and just plain ol' creative editing could achieve this.

im split on this guy...

im not a fan, lets get that out there right up front.

but, he was a stick to his guns sorta guy. thats admirable...

if your a fan of the old testament, he was not really very far off that rocker. and since he never actually stoned anyone (i know of) he was somewhat liberal by that standard.

then, i think... if death is the great equalizer then meh whats the point.. its all equal now...

of course he was a horrid asshat... but im an asshat... thats not really a stone i should throw....

in the end his family and the community he devoted his life to disavowed him (about a year ago), he had plenty of time for that to sink in.

im not an afterlifer, so no eternal torment or such from me... just worm food.

so in summation..

ya, fuck em... but meh deads dead.
Title: Re: Celebrity Death Thread

I recall some speculation about disavowing him because they (the entire church) didn't want to pay his funeral expenses or something like that.
Title: Re: Celebrity Death Thread

One of the members suggested it was a power struggle.  His wife had control over the church finances or board or something and when she got into an argument at a meeting they tossed her, and when Fred suggested a little more tolerance and understanding of church members they tossed him too.

I guess he's not a "real" celebrity. But never the less, without him Gary Gygax wouldn't have had all those notes from their games to create Chainmail Bikini & D&D books you know today so I feel an urge to post it.

Greg Golemo, age 65, passed away this morning of a heart attack. He died a grandfather, a deacon of St. Mary's Catholic Church, avid tabletop player, well known Boy Scout in his local council, college roommate of Gygax, and he was ever ready to help out or lend an ear and advice to anyone in need.

As a more personal thing, I came across a thread about a 1969ish GenCon and found this.
Pictured: Greg Golemo, Dave Arneson and Mike Reese (not a 100% who is who).
And just had to share it with him. Well, I didn't do so until about three weeks ago and he spoke of getting a hold of some of the guys from back then. I have no idea if he was successful or not.

Edit - Forgot he was also Gygax's roommate during college.

Yeah it's everywhere. He's had a lot of legal and abuse problems too, including that video of him and I think his daughter which is ripe for conspiracy theories. He already filmed a bunch of scenes and Disney has shown us just as willing they are to CGI the heads of dead actors onto people so he'll still appear in a lot of movies yet.

Where do I even begin? Blade Runner? Flesh & Blood? Sin City? I am really growing old to see heroes like that die.

I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.
