An unabashed teaser: Well, three days hence. But we plotted at length today.

PS. Sable: Nice tentacles. It's the cuddly version.

Let's finish this swiftly.   I do not like the fact that the Marilith are singing altogethnot the least because I don't appreciate their demoniac racket.Considering I do expect Captain Vir to be  a Lady man faerish lad, he'll go have a word or two with them.

SUMMON THE FIERY HOST OF UNDEAD DEATH PARROTS !
"-Lady-Captain, we detect 20 hostile vessels against us,  and Erasmus Haarlock's Spear of Destiny ! What are your orders ?
-RAMMING SPEED !

final result : 6 slaughts vessels, 4 imperial frigates, 2 imperial cruisers destroyed. Haarlock sent into the warp. 0 losses. Flawless Victory.

It was a close fight, but in the end the Uruk-Hai made a fatal mistake. They let me shoot them a bunch of times with magic bullets.

As long everyone is entertained, and that i got Vir right, everything is fine  :D.

NBy the way, I worked on a new version of the Margravine portrait. Can be seen right[ur =http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2014/311/6/5/the_margravine_v2_by_hieronymushoefer-d85lp17.pngl]here.[/url]

I remembered I got an animated shield, but then i asked myself : " a shield surrounding a lady in fancy dress ? that does not match..."  So... I decided to represent it -and refluff it- with an animated umbrella.  :smirk

What do you guys think of it ?

Mary Poppins with a rifle?
Yes, the umbrella is perfect. No reason an umbrella can't be enchanted, animated, made sufficiently indestructible as needed, even intelligent.

I love it; if you like it, go with it.

Mary Poppins with a rifle?

It was not how I got her concept, but true, but that's how she looks alike at the end.Nothing wrong with this comparaison... With the right version.

She is Nightmare, remember.  :smirk

Anyway. I was thinking : does anyone here would like I'd give a try doing his character portrait ?  I only do pencil/charcoal/sanguine, so no colors.

I know artists put a piece of themselves into their work, but I never thought of it so literally.  :P

But seriously, how'd you like to try a humanoid bat? Preferably in a plain leather tunic or jerkin.

The link appears broken, though I think I get the idea.

Well... how well do you know different bat speceis? Because I can get a bit more detailed if you know what I'm talking about.

Head and general structure of the Pteropus giganteus.
Ears of the Rhinolophus chaseni (scaled down a little to fit the head).
Wings of the Noctilio leporinus.

I leave the details of making it work together up to you.

I am not a zoologist, but  that's the kind of things a web research engine is made for. I'll try to get sketch something from the species you gave me, and send that to you.

double ost. sorry for that.

so, here is my first try. Is it a good base, or should I scrap all this and try again ? I stayed closer to the bat before trying to anthropomorphize more the drawing...
do not worry, there is a disconnect near the neck, it's from the scanning, not on on the drawing.

Not bad for a base, at least on the bat parts. Definitely needs to be more humanoid though. That also means arms. End the wings a little higher, more towards the waist. Oddly enough, the best example for that I can think of right now is a stick-figure comic. First panel.

Scrap the legs though. He doesn't need to hang upside-down; he'll mostly be either flying or walking upright. The head is great (needs smaller ears though; I just gave you that bat for the general shape), but the facial expression is... well, it's not him. It's not bad on its own, but I definitely don't see it on the character. Make him look happy if you want, but a content grin or something would be more appropriate.

Also, and I'm sorry but I have to say it: he looks like he's wearing a straight-jacket.

It's a draft, so no worry ;).

Not knowing the character, I was expecting not to get the expression right, so no biggie. So, more arm like wings, or does he got wings AND arms ?
As for the straight jacket like effect, I supose it's due to how the "arms" are so low, i'll correct that.

Wings and arms. The skeleton is mostly humanoid.
