Mishann sailed forth from Eston, bound for Thronehold and the start of her reign. To her surprise a Thrane blockade was waiting for her. Having little in the way of military vessels in her escort, she divided her ships; some remained in the slim hope of breaking through the blockade, while the rest made land south of Flamekeep. Only after landing did she learn of the combined Thrane and Brelish force arrayed against her.

Deep in enemy territory, and outnumbered five to one, she made a break for Aundair, only to be cut off by the larger force. Before her enemies were able to strike though, Wrogar and his Wardens of the Wood appeared to better balance the scales.

With little left to do, both sides sent forth heralds, exchanged challenges, and then about noon, did the fighting truly start.

Mishann had decided to let the enemy come to her, preferring to be ready to repel an early cavalry charge, Wrogar respected his sister’s decision and set is troops accordingly, and together they prepared to make their foe to pay dearly for victory during the coming fight.

Laren Kador - Right Flank

The sun is high, and the sky clear, as the thunderous sound of thousands of feet come closer. There are many people around you. Most are in armor while others wear leathers or only robes. Those around you have carry mainly long spears, but like you some are using shorter weapons. To your left is the pride of your forces, the Queen's Guard. You see Mishann herself has taken the lead of this cavalry group for the coming charge. As the sound gets closer you start to be able to make out individuals, then armaments, then crest, and then finally their eyes. All the while you can hear those in command shouting orders, trying to keep everyone from panicking. Then the fight is upon you with a loud clash.
"You think I'm talking about breaking the rules?"
"No I'm just trying to figure out how far you want them bent."

As the two sides meet, a large dust cloud envelopes the front lines.

The dust from the charge clears enough for you to see that a wedge has punched a hole through the front lines. It is not overly large, but the longer the gap in your lines remains, the greater the danger of enemy soldiers out flanking your lines.

Behind and to the sides, the lines hold against pressure from the wedge, for now.

Ahead there is a giant of a man shouting orders while holding off two of your allies; you can only assume he is the one leading the wedge. Between you and him are several groups fighting. As you watch, the nearest combat ends in only one stroke of a great sword. The victor is wearing some scaled armor that bears the seal Thrane, and he spots you moments after the fallen soldier’s body becomes still.

As he stood among the men of the Cyrian right flank, Valar tried to put his thoughts in order. The last couple of days had been hectic: it had been less than 48 hours since a lieutenant he'd never seen before had entered the gate of Fort Arelon and asked for volunteers for a mission 'of great importance to the nation'. Valar was among those that were willing to go, a bit more than 50 men total. They had crossed the Scions Sound on requisitioned fishing boats and managed to link up with Mishann's army the night before. Only then were they disclosed the true purpose of their mission: the Queen of Cyre had been denied her rightful claim to the crown of Galifar, and usurpers had brought war upon them. Surprise, outrage and righteous fury filled the hearts of men.

As the Thranish infantry moved onto their position, the first line braced to meet them. Valar looked at the man next to him. Samuel was a simple farm boy, that had enlisted at fort Arelon less than two weeks before. He didn't even get to complete his basic training. And yet, the night before he was one of the most enthusiastic, anxious to avenge the Queen's honor. But now, as he saw the armed and armored men marching forward, all bent on killing him, one could see in his eyes and posture that the enthusiasm had turned to fear. Valar put a hand on his shoulder: It's all right. Just remember what you were taught: fight with your head; keep your calm and you're going to make out of this alive. Besides, the guys over there are probably more scared of you than you are of them; for we fight for what is right, while they only fight for the ambitions of their lords and masters

As the Thranish broke through the first Cyrian line, Valar and his companions were ordered to advance and cover the gap. He could clearly see the enemy leader; Towering above the battlefield, he urged his man forward with shouted orders and by example. If he would fall, his men would surely waver. By a couple of moments of concentration, Valar brought into existence a translucent shield-shaped screen of energy and then started making his way toward him. Soon, he came to grips with the first enemy.

Valar's aggressive attack won through the soldier's defenses with ease and scored a large gash down his left arm.

The soldier attempted to reply in kind, focusing all his attention on his new foe with reckless abandon, but an unseen force deflected his sword mere inches from flesh.

Valar barely managed to deflect his enemy's blow with his Force Shield at the last moment. Seeing that the missed swing sent his opponent off balance, the Cyrian seized the the opportunity and with a quick cut left a dent in the armor and a bleeding wound on his left side.

The second blow appeared to take alot out of the soldier as he almost collapsed. He saved himself from falling by using his sword as a prop, but blood was running freely from his wounds. With a great yell, he heaved his sword at Valar once more.

Seeing that the wounds and blood loss are starting to get the best of his opponent, Valar pressed forward, not willing to give him any time to recover. The Thranish managed with great effort to raise his sword in time to parry Valar's, but he could do little to prevent the armor spikes from penetrating his armor and causing a deep chest wound.

Succumbing to his wounds, the solider collapses on the ground, in a slowly expanding pool of blood.

The battle around you still rages.

The two nearest groups, even being outnumbered three to two, appear to be holding their ground for the moment, though a member of each is bleeding. Their opponents appear to be fairing better.

Covered in the blood of his enemy, Valar quickly surveyed the battlefield, looking for the enemy commander. He saw him not very far, fighting to hold off two other Cyrians; time to die, traitor Valar muttered to himself before charging. To his dismay, despite being distracted by two other opponents the enemy officer still managed to parry his blow with the shield. Valar quickly regained his combat posture, getting ready to renew his assault.

A quick nod of recognition is all the Cyrian soldiers spared Valar before they continued their assault. One of them was able to connect solidly with the Thrane commander’s chest, though it seemed not to even faze him as he attacked back, scoring a gash on the soldier’s leg.

The soldier to your left, after being hit, isn’t looking so good.

C'mon! Surround him and let's bring him down! Valar encourages his fellows as he attacks with renewed vigor, managing to find a breach in his enemy's defenses.

Taking your advice, the soldier to your right side steps to the other side of the command, and then with his companion, they attacked, both scoring hits and drawing blood.

Through the whole assault, the command only clenched his jaw against the pain, after which he struck back in kind, scoring a hit that unbalanced his foe. Not a moment later, the morningstar wielding soldier almost knocked the head off of the unbalanced soldier, who crumpled, unmoving to the ground.

You'll pay for this! Valar shouts as his comrade falls. He then quickly shifts his position in an attempt to throw his enemies off balance while performing a wide horizontal sweep with his blade meant to cut both down at once. To his frustration, they both managed to jump out of the way at the last moment.

The commander and soldier both nimbly dodge Valar's attack, but they and his ally fail to hit anything as well.

Meanwhile, one of the Cyre soldier has fallen before Thrane steel.

Valar keeps pressing his assault but with little results. His opponent looks able to stand his ground without too much trouble.

The Cyrian attacks the back of the command, scoring a solid hit, causing him to growl in anger. "Get on the other side." He yelled as he motioned with his sword. The Thrane soldier complied, maneuvering behind the Cyre scum.

Together they were able to score a minor wound.

Elsewhere a Thrane was impaled on a Cyre sword.

Seeing that his companion was cornered, Valar pressed on the attack even more vigorously, not giving the Thranish officer a moment of pause and finally managing to find a gap in the his defenses and score a deep cut through his armor. Move around him, don't sit still! he indicated to his companion.

The last soldier swung for all he was worth, landing a blow on the commander as well.

"Finish this off so we can deal with that one," Growled the commander after being hit a second time in quick secession. Together they attacked the remaining soldier. He tried to dodge both attacks, but his attempt merely helped to line up the strikes. The commander's sword made a sickening sound as he pulled his sword from the soon to be cold body. "Now, how about you?"

Damn it!Valar found himself facing two opponents, but he quickly regained his calm, as one of them was bleeding heavily from more than a few places. He took a step back in order to allow himself room to concentrate on strengthening his shield of force. He then looked back at his opponents You will pay for their lives with your own! Come and get me if you dare.

There is quite a bit of blood on him, both his and others, but he isn't carrying himself as one would if they were heavily wounded.

The soldier reaches a glowing hand forward and places it on the shoulder of the commander. The glow spreads from the hand to infuse with the commander. With an evil grin he moves to take your offer. He goes with an upward swing.

You'll have to do better than that Valar taunted his enemy as he casually parried his blow. He then took a step back to try and assist one of his comrades that was being cornered by 2 enemies and to make some room for himself then brought his Falchion about in a wide arc, the sheer force of the blow making it almost impossible to parry by both the commander and the unfortunate Thrane soldier caught in the way.

(click to show/hide)

Valar's comrade in arms was as well able to land a solid hit on their foe, but still he remained standing.

Somewhat unsteady on his feet, the Thrane soldier tried to retaliate against who he thought was the leader.

The commander attempted to again land a blow on his elusive foe.

Meanwhile the morningstar wielding soldier stepped up behind the commander, holding a symbol of faith for all to see while in-toning words of a prayer. With the completion of the chant, a faint white ring expanded from his location, brightening when it reached a Thrane soldier, darkening when it reached a Cyrian.

Where the demons of Shavarath is our magic support? Valar grumbled as he struggled to keep both enemies at bay. He decided to focus on the one that seemed easiest to take care of.

The Thrane soldier moved to cut off your retreat, landing a blow with his sword at the same time.

Your ally, heeding your advice from before, moves to flank the Thrane, but his attack only gets a bit of shield.

The commander continues his pursuit, air is his only reward.

The (now revealed) cleric makes a quick rush at Valar, scoring flesh.

A Thrane soldier managed to sneak unnoticed to Valar's blind side and sting him in the shoulder. For a moment, his sight went dark with pain. The loud clank of the morningstar against his helmet brought him back to reality. It's not over yet he said to himself. The shoulder wound was deep, but not lethal, and his helmet had blocked most of the damage from the morningstar. He launched a furious counterattack, trying to get his foes to maintain distance.

As the cleric was taken out the commander let out anguished, angry growl "Carth!" He made to follow Valar, but seeing his soldier about to be out maneuvered, attempted to block the in coming blow. To his credit it was close, but the Cryian was able to land the blow, slaying the Thrane soldier.

Don't worry, you'll join him soon enough. Valar motioned to his comrade to move toward the commander's blind side while sending a well placed blow through his defenses.

Seeing his opponent's concentration was slipping away into rage, Valar simply waited for a mistake. And it came soon enough as he was able to slip his falchion below a savage strike aimed much too high.

Make your swings shorter! Keep your shield close to your body! Valar tries to give some defensive advice to his companion that seems to be the target of the enemy commander's wrath, while launching a furious assault of his own.

Taking Valar's advice to heart, the soldier focused more on defense than offense, trying to keep his shield between him and the commander. His attack didn’t hit anything, but he didn't get hit from the commander's next swing, either.
