Dont worry about the diary, pen and ink for weight.   Flint and steel are also negligible.  Oil is a pound, waterskin is 4 pounds full.   You ready to go?

Oh right, is there any exposition I should know?

Fortunately I should be fairly easy to integrate.  He's looking for answers (hence a rank, and probably future ranks in, things that should not be) and is very interest in anyone who shares his "crackpot beliefs" that there's something dreadful being covered up.  If any supernatural shenanigans, governmental cover-ups, or pod people have occurred and becomes known to him that seems like reason enough for him to follow the current group around.

The other benefit is that anything and/or everything that comes out of my mouth may very well be true, false, misunderstood, a hazy drug fueled dream, or all of the above simultaneously.  So please feel free to grab whatever hooks I may ramble out.

A brief preview reveals something about spiders of unusual size....

You have heard rumors that New York is burning and the British are on the march, though you haven't seen any.  The odd happenings at your town are responsible for your knowledge rank.  You have been on the run since then, and have been drifting down the coast in a dinghy when you lost consciousness from exposure and dehydration.

Getting ready to introduce you now  :D
