The last litwicks fade into ghostly nothingness, the music is gone, and the room has lost its unsettling air. The purple orb rests at Period's feet.

the purple orb glistens in the dim light. It feels heavy (like stone) and cool to the touch.

I scoop up Trapinch in my arms and walk over to Period. "Huh. That looks...strange."

I reach up and give my beret a reassuring pat.

Xavier does not, he informs you in a sassy manner, reminding you that he doesn't know EVERYTHING about everything. Just almost everything about almost everything.

Period: Yeah, it's pretty weird. Xavier couldn't pick it up, as if it were some sort of hole in reality or something.

Period sticks the hole in reality into her pocket.

Period: Oh well! It's probably nothing important!
Period: Do you want to head back to Brightwing? I've got my energy back~

I nod in agreement, then look around. "Er...which way was that?" After a moment of thought: "And where did those two adults go?"

Period: Brightwing is that way.

Period points in the direction of Brightwing. As she is inside, she is sort of pointing at a wall.

I nod again, then--checking for the adults first--take off the beret. Victini floats gently upwards.

"All right, then," I say cheerfully, "shall we head on back? Or did you want to move on?"

Period looks confused.

Period: Wait, did you mean... "head back to this town" or "head back to Brightwing?"
Period: Or "Move on past this town" or "move on to Brightwing?"
Period: And, you know, I did just ask you if you wanted to return to Brightwing. Asking me semantically confusing questions isn't really a good response...

I blink again.

Victini flies down and hovers in front of my face with a worried expression.

"I...um," I begin.

I shake my head to clear it.

"What I meant was, where do you want to go? We can go back to Brightwing, or we can go on to the next town."

Period pauses for a moment.

Period: Oh well, I guess I'll stop asking you questions then. If you can't make up your mind about anything, I'll just make up your mind for you~
Period: We're going to head back to Brightwing and have our pokemon healed then say goodbye to the nurses then head to the next city!
Period: You've lost your chance to have any input on this decision, so off we go~

As you walk down the stairs, you find the twitching bodies of the adults. they seem to have fallen down the stair case in their haste to get down. Aside from being a bit dazed, they seem fine.

"I, uh!" I manage. Looking at the adults more closely, though, she does appear to be right. Other than being inexplicably covered with patches of dirt and...are they smoking?

"A-all right, then!" I mutter, continuing on with Period.

and you find yourselves in a giftshop. Period, you see the same fare as before. Beatrice sees several keychains of various ghost pokemon, a few T-shirts which read "I barely escaped the House of Gengar", and other odds and ends. the smell of the food tents nearby waft into the giftshop. no doubt aided by the fans that are strategically placed at the entrance.

Period: Oh, while we're here, lets grab some funnel cake. Pearl never lets me have funnel cake, so we should take this opportunity to have some!

I give Period a sidelong glance. "Funnel cake?" I ask in a tone that gives me enough plausible deniability to claim that I knew what it was all along.
