Mathematic Bard (lawful Bard ACF)

Mathematic Bard

Class: Bard

Level: 1st, and all subsequent levels.

Alignment: Only lawful good, lawful neutral or lawful evil. They can advance the bard base class even while lawful, and can freely enter any bard prestige class that requires characters to be non-lawful. If they ever cease to be lawful, they lose both of these benefits.

Base saves: The mathematic bard has good will saves, but has poor Fortitude and Reflex saves.

Spellcasting:
To learn or cast a spell, a mathematic bard must have an Intelligence score (not Charisma score) equal to at least 10 + the spell level. All other spellcasting factors, including bonus spells and save DCs, are still determined using the mathematic bard's Charisma score.

Upon qualifying for a new spell level, the mathematic bard gets one additional spell known of each level, chosen from the following list:
0 - Detect Chaos, Easy Math
1 - Lucky Streak, Protection from Chaos
2 - Goul Glyph, Insight of Good Fortune
3 - Demon Dirge, Magic Circle against Chaos
4 - Analyze Dweomer, Wall of Law
5 - Dismissal, Zone of Peace
6 - Mental Pinnacle, Shield of Law

Bardic Knowledge:
A mathematic bard gains a +2 bonus on all bardic knowledge checks.

Bardic Music:
A mathematic bard's powers of inspiration are not as persistent as those of a traditional bard. His ability to inspire courage, inspire greatness, or inspire heroics lasts only 3 rounds after the ally can no longer hear the mathematic bard sing, rather than the normal 5 rounds.

Is there a reason for the reduced saves? Being a MAD caster is already plenty of punishment.

It was taken from the Bardic Sage, which served as template for that ACF and had the same drawback - and also a worse secondary casting stat, as Wis is usually a dump stat for bards. Int is much more attractive for extra skill points alone.

The big upside is an extra spell known at each spell level, including some very attractive choices that are normally not found on the bard spell list.
