Celestite's magic blast basically vaporizes the Thoon airship along with the remaining celestials escort. No enemies seem to remain in sight, but most party members wisely take a closer look around or vanish themselves.

Then suddenly feel a powerful mental blast inside your heads, screaming [glow=purple]THOON![/glow] louder than you would think possible, then suddenly Celestite finds herself violently attacked by multiple invisible weapons, bludgeoning her up while her clothes twist as if something useen force seeked to wrap and crush the magician.

Simultaneously a black ray of pure void forms just above Celestite and flies through the area where Noxa is, destroying the very air as it passes through.

In the next split second Neb as turned into shadows that swiftly fly in front of Celestite before forming again in the shape of the assassin that violently stabs and claws at what looks like just empty air, but three of his blows draw out gushes of purple blood! The unseen force that was holding Celestite instantly lets her go.

Meanwhile all around, you notice the other forces of Thoon in the distance are all moving away from the party.

You manage to see what attacked Celestite: a mind flayer in elegant black robes filled with silvery runes that quickly approached her out of seemingly nowhere, its tentacles viciously slashing at the magician.

Then Neb skewers its innards with an expertly placed dagger blow. However instead of dying, the body of the mind flayer dissolves as if made of mist, leaving behind only a silvery cord that is then gone for a moment too.

You see the invisible mind flayer quickly fly through the air and have its way with Celestite, and only then procceed to attack the aberration's exposed back. Your first attack easily slashes its robes and pierces its soft back, but then light seems to twist around you and your next dagger blow hits nothing solid. You still manage to compensate with your remaining attacks to snuff out the mind flayer's life, but then it dissolves as if made of mist, leaving behind only a silvery cord that is then gone for a moment too.

Celestite takes 30+29+27+28+27+28+29+30 damage. Would be grappled as well but Neb already took care of that.
 
Noxus takes 60 damage, Fort save 37 reduces this to 10 damage, yes affects objects.

2 more turns until the other delayed mind flayer arrives.

Raive'lac, who had been hanging behind you while you battled with arms crossed in an arrogant pose, clearly not believing this initial battle was important enough to justify him doing any work, flies to catch Celestite's falling corpse with one claw. Then the other holds high his unholy symbol that starts to crackle with chromatic energy that washes down upon the magician's dead body, that suddenly jerks as her life is restored and the wounds inflicted by the mind flayer start closing:

Get up! I will make sure you will only die when our dark lords will it, and not a moment sooner!

Rave'lac uses Miracle to replicate Last Breath on celestite, then Heal to restore 150 HP to her.

From thin air, the voice of the horrid little clawed creature issues forth, saying, "That is probably the best idea anyone's had all day. Find our destination, move on ahead, and have trust that this one will follow. No good would come from its leading, as you will never know where to go. But move quickly, the squids will likely mount a greater offensive on this location soon. Thoon forces are moving away. Most likely, they wish not to be here when whatever is being sent arrives."

Rolling his neck as a bit of a stretch, the finely dressed man groaned in much annoyance. "Point me in a direction and watch everything be reduced to a rain of ash. Where is our target? I'm itching for a feast." he growls, a long draconic tongue escaping his mouth to lick his lips in hunger.

Betral nods, his giant crossbow disappearing now that it is no longer needed for the battle.  "What do we destroy next?"

Our target is the silver Elder Brain, who resides at the depths below Bahamut's corpse park. It has been directly connected to the waters of this plane, in order to keep harmony between the growing larvaes and other aquatic aberrations growing here, keeping their hunger in check. If the silver Elder Brain falls, the filthy fish will happilly devour each other until none are left.

Or we could just boil the sea below us until all of the illithid spawn on it are dead, although that'll take time even with our power, during which we'll have to fend against more Thoon reinforcements.


Just as Raive'lac finishes his exposition, a circular rift starts to open above you, quickly growing to colossal size, dark purple light emanating from inside it...

This Elder Brain has been grown from brains of both mind flayers and planetars for management of minions, but is still a mighty opponent on its own right.

It is resistant to magic, immune to Acid and Fear and able to quickly heal its own wounds.
It possesses eight dangerous tentacles covered in dangerous acidic slime.
It is capable of replicating a variety of spells with its mind, including Charm Monster, Detect Magic, Detect Thoughts, Mage Armor, Plane Shift, Suggestion and Dominate Monster.
Anyone who gets within 10 feet of the Silver Elder Brain risks temporary insanity.
The Silver Elder Brain can also project the horror of its consciousness against a single foe within 100 feet that inflicts serious damage on the victim's psyque.
Since it is adept at multi-tasking, the Silver Elder Brain is capable of attacking multiple enemies simultaneously.

It will not retreat from its post, but its telepathy reaches far and is most certainly calling for reinforcements. You must deal with it as quickly as possible.

This is an advanced experimental prototype based on the Thoon Soldier mass-production unit. Both its weapons and plating have been internally reinforced with fragments of Bahamut's bones, making it a lot more durable and dangerous than it looks. It is specially resistant to fire. Although capable in melee with its axe-arms, its true offensive capacity comes from concealed ranged weapons of advanced design. Spy reports claim some models may be able to fire metal projectiles at great speed, while others fire slower explosive shells. The detaila change from unit to unit. It can change its internal structure in one of several aspects, but doing so damages its own systems. If it calculates its own defeat is imminent, it will self-destruct in a fiery explosion.

Another unique distinctive feature of the Thoon Guard, and the main reason for ita designation, is that they can raise an indestructible barrier around the one they're meant to protect. The barrier does not stop the one inside from attacking others outside. It takes at least three Thoon Guards to maintain the barrier, and they cannot enter it, so destroying the Thoon guards will cause it to drop down. Because of that the Thoon Guards usually maintain their barriers with at least four units.
