5E Psionics?
« on: August 31, 2014, 10:48:47 AM »
Anyone have an idea on how 5E is going to handle Psionics? Any projected dates on a release? Links?

Thanks,
Necro

Since they did away with CL in 5e, and instead spells scale based on their level/slot, I will guess 5e psionics will look a lot like 3.0e psionics.

To be honest, the current magic system reminds me of 3.5e psionics somewhat. They might do what Nunkuruji suggests though and bring back 3.0e edition psionics.

Hell, you could even go ahead and just homebrew an StP Erudite real quick

PP progression could be the same
ML no longer really exists
Spell/Power behaves with the same scaling as the spell, in that
-1 PP spent -> behaves as if cast from 1st level slot
-3 PP spent -> behaves as if cast from a 2nd level slot
-and so forth

Some of 5e looks very much like various 3e psi.
Leveling Up instead of CL, is Augmentation then squeezed into Slots.
6th level spells and up are Wilder progression.
Warlock is encounter recharge.
There's a continuum that goes:  raw Ardent --> 5e Multiclassing --> 3e Gestalt.

Hopefully, they only use 4e Psi in bits and pieces.
Powerpoints in other editions, works very differently
than infilling the A and E part of AEDU.
Certainly they could port this in, with no problems.
