What's better -Sharn or Grell?
« on: November 25, 2013, 12:46:30 AM »
Sharn 8:  (Really, stop at 7th)
  • CL = 6 (Sorcerer / Favored Soul)
  • Defensive
    • Fly 40’ perfect
    • Nat Armor = +Con bonus
    • DR & SR
    • Regeneration
    • Evasion
    • Immune to Mind Effecting
    • Negative:  Immune to Polymorph
  • Offensive
    • 12 natural attacks
    • Multiattack
    • Hex Portals
    • Large (10’ reach)
    • Independent Action
  • Notes:
    • 3 hex portals + 12 attacks w/ +3D6 damage from 3rd level spell
    • Lockdown build makes sense, with reach, hex portals.  Feat: Standstill

Grell 3/ Grell Philosopher 2 / Paragon 3
  • CL = 6 (Wizard w/ Paragon Magic / Paragon Caster)
  • Defensive
    • Fly 30’ perfect ? 45’
    • Nat Armor = +Con bonus
    • DR from Paragon (eventually SR)
    • Immune to electricity and Paralyzation
    • Telepathic Communication
    • Paragon 3 Goodness
  • Offensive
    • 11 natural attacks
    • Meal Grab = Free Action Grapple
    • Constrict = 1D6 damage on grapple
    • Expert Grappler = grapple with 1 tentacle at -10, +HD to grapple
    • Notes
    • Balor Nimbus – 2nd – 6D6 fire at end of turn in grapple
    • Fearsome Grapple – 2nd level -- swift action +4 or +8 (at 9th) to grapple
      Take Paragon Grapple

Remarkably similar - both have a metric ton of natural attacks, good casting.  Sharn is a bit stronger defensively & threatens a massive and interesting area.  Grell has wizard casting and is a grapplemonster.

I think I prefer the Grell, but remarkably "similar".

Best,
David
