D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: [PF] Catatonia spell

Holy crap you can use this spell to animate object corpses of creatures far outside your HD range of animate undead. With none of the weaknesses of undead.

And/or be a subpar necromancer without any of the moral quandaries.

42
Ah, you're right. That huge block of text and that single word (swift) was entirely missed cause it was hanging on the edge of a line break.

43
I feel like you keep missing the part ketaro is trying to bring up where the actions granted by Slow Time are explicitly restricted to not being able to activate Supernatural abilities (i.e. Slow Time)

Quote
The monk can use these actions to do the following: take a melee attack action, use a skill, use an extraordinary ability, or take a move action.

The monk triggers the 1st Slow Time with his original Standard Action.
The 2nd time the monk wishes to use Slow Time, it must be from the Standard granted by Instant Orders as that has no restriction on the usage of the action.
The 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc etc activations of Slow Time also HAVE to use the Standard gained from future uses of Instant Orders, only.
Slow Time's restricted Standard Actions cannot be used to activate Slow Time.

What I'm referring to is that because Slow Time gives you 3 standard actions instead of 1, you can keep paying the "1" by having Slow Time consume a standard action that a previous Slow Time gave you in order to keep the loop going (as opposed to consuming an Instant Order-granted standard action).

But thats the point I was making. The actions from Slow Time can't trigger another Slow Time because they only allow extraordinary abilities to be used with them, not supernatural, and Slow Time is supernatural. So Slow Time cannot trigger more Slow Times. It has to be Instant Orders that triggers all the Slow Time uses.

45
Don't really know about whether this would legally work or not as I'm not familiar with the class abilities mentioned, or PF as much as 3.x, but your response post there does have you mentioning possibly reapplying Slow Time using Slow Time granted actions  but, at the least, that wouldn't work because the Slow Time granted actions can't trigger Supernatural abilities, of which Slow Time is Su.

So, if this is a technically valid tactic, the only method of triggering Slow Time after the original use is via Instant Orders, right?

As well, if we go by RAW, is Tea of Transference allowed to be used by anyone that does not have a level in Monk? Cause, yanno, the first line in the item description says its for monks. Um, not considering any sort of diving deeper into the whole potential "RAW" definition and making a grammatical case against "M"onk versus "m"onk.

And lastly, refilling spell slots equals infinite spellcasting how? Not contesting the ability to refill your spell slots, but only the ability to actually cast the spells after refilling when spellcasting is generally not an extraordinary ability and thus could not be used with the bonus actions from Slow Time? The only reasonable sidestepping of that is dedicating more Instant Orders to force Spellcasting which possibly takes away the ability to make the loop infinite but could still give enough actions to a group in a single turn to end any fight regardless.

Lastly, it doesn't look like the Dazed in the following round condition of Instant Orders is any detriment to this loop, if the loop is legally valid, because all these actions happen during a single turn in its best case scenario of functioning as you intended.

Oh thats true, Totemist/soulmelds are pretty useful and specifically Totemist's have pretty good options that don't require much investment in levels to get.
Plus a lot of Totemist melds give natural weapons which can all trigger on your Lion Totem's Pounce stuff.

Dip sorcerer, acquire draconic heritage (try to get Battle Dragon as your heritage, it'd make your DFI damage Sonic typed), become bard, acquire dragonfire inspiration (replaces bonus from Bardic Inspiration from +X to hit/damage to +Xd6 Damage). Acquire Words of Creation to double the Inspiration bonus/damage. Acquire a bardic prestige class to run multiple bard songs simultaneously.

ketaro suggests Seeker of the Song. It's not super OP compared to almost every other possible Bard PrC, but you get some fun songs (like halfway through the PrC you can use Bardic Music uses/day to Heal HP equal to Perform checks. Break those skills checks for excessive heals; or at 6th level being able to force anything that can hear your song to win a Concentrate vs. Perform check to be allowed to cast any magics; or a capstone song to banish everything extraplanar within 60ft with a Will save).

Its probably not organized by class right?

So is it searchable? Like Ctrl+F style?
Dunno how ketaro never saw this before.

Anybody can submit to here. Oslecamo has a guideline on his concept for creating monster classes that can be generally followed if it helps flesh out the class. Oslecamo himself has been inactive since the pandemic began and seems likely to not be returning for god knows what reason.

Regardless, there's enough of us still here familiar with his system here to provide critique and feedback on submissions.

If facebook retains the ability to literally pull the plug and shutdown the site at any point, then no matter how big it gets it is still a private forum with restrictions on speech.

51
Since it gives you +2 AC level 10 it's actually good value for a single feat.

Its even better cause it says "The bonus to your natural armor bonus increases by two", the bonus being 1 and getting increased by 2 more so it's actually a +3 Untyped Natural AC bonus with a CL 10 spell on you.

You can only take a 5-foot-step if your movement isn’t hampered by difficult terrain or darkness. Any creature with a speed of 5 feet or less can’t take a 5-foot step, since moving even 5 feet requires a move action for such a slow creature.

The only restriction is not using a move action for actual movement and not being hampered by difficult terrain or darkness (if the creature can not normally see in darkness).

Yes, zombies can 5-ft step if it is the only movement they are doing in a round.

No, Strat has control of everything and I think currently he is the only one with access.

Prime had access as well, but he's kind of disappeared... Which has left me as last person standing at the moment.

You hiring?  :rolleyes

Its pretty active in Discord form, though.

If you're in a situation where you gotta fight something like that, you're either not suppose to fight it because DM's plot, or you're also a "bigganumbers Kaiju" and its just a battle of attrition.

Blinding Glory from Book of Exalted Deeds is pretty great. No save no SR blind everything in 100ft/level from you. Does require evil targets to function but whatevs.

If it really becomes just a punch out, a Retributive Amulet from the same book will keep you on top, splitting all incoming melee damage between you and your attacker.

Dampen Magic from Complete Champion will totally screw any incoming enemy spells by reducing that spell's CL and Save DC by 1+1 for every 6 CL you have above 7. There is no cap on this scaling and since it's variable you could empower that shit. This also reduces straight enhancement bonuses on magic weapons so if you're immune to non-magical damage (*cough*starmantle*cough*), reducing the enhancement bonus to zero through this spell will make your foe's magic weapons useless.

Other RPGs / Re: Review of Amber Diceless Roleplaying Game

This sounds exactly like what forum roleplays use to be like in the mid 2000s. Gosh, those were a horrible mess and retrospect backs that up. The guy that wrote that book sounds the an "um, actually" kind of DM; rewriting every action you just declared your character was going to do.

Quit the security job tonight. HR finally got in touch, just to emphatically repeat that company policy is to not pay me for the overtime hours. Note that part of the job description is mandatory overtime, so I can't just turn it down either. Fuck em, security is always hiring, even during a pandemic.

But is that legal? Company policy means nothing as far as labor laws go.

Nothing that doesn't involve very repetitive castings of sonic or acid damage.

2nd lvl dark way could create an unbreakable bridge of force to replicate a wall of force. It says it can be at any angle so long as its two ends are attached to solid objects.

Otherwise major image, or even minor image if the bridge is small enough. Illusions are the next best thing to reality  ;)
