So been slowly playing the Super Robot Wars AP new fan translation and I got Amuro in my team, yay! Let's look at his stats...

Wait, why does Amuro "I'll hit hit the enemy's cockpit!" Ray knows Mercy as a spirit? He left a pretty long line of bodies back in the first Gundam series.

Then next mission Ramba Ral shows up. Huuhhh, the One Year War's over, weren't you supposed to be dead? And what are those 3 Doms nearby...

Oh, it's the tri-stars. You were all supposed to be dead too.

So ok, seems like in the SRW AP timeline Amuro is pretty mercyful and let a good chunk of his named enemies live.

Also gotta love how the GPO2 gets stolen:
Asshole Officer: Commander Bright, we're giving you this new nuke-equipped Gundam. Also what the hell is with your crew's new recruits?
Dragonar Dudes: These are no gundams, sir, no gundams.
Domon: THE UNDEFEATED OF THE EAST!
Lamia: Clearly I'm just a normal youth that got her hands in a super robot by pure luck.
Kouji: Is there any other way to get a super robot?
Ryoma: Sounds good enough to me.
Hayato: Am I the only one who thinks that sounds extremely fishy?
Musashi: Yes.
Sayaka: We'll take all the girl pilots we can get.
Boss: Hear, hear!
Clearly just another normal recruit: SIEG ZEON!
Bright: Wait a moment, that one is acting a little strange... But he's at least wearing a federation uniform...
Clearly just another normal recruit: Eeerr, I mean, a Gundam with a nuke? Splendid! I'll just take a closer look...
Domon: Not on my watch! Super martial arts attack!
Clearly just another normal recruit: Normal gun!
Domon: ... Crap. Who is this guy?

Smartphone with emulator I mean Playstation Portable, that's where the P comes from since it's a remake of Super Robot Wars A.

Oh, cool. I knew there were still some gems left to dig out of that generation.

Truly, it's a shame the PSVita got pretty much abandoned so early in its life. It had plenty of potential as the PSP's successor.

Thank goodness for hackers getting the most out of it where Sony clearly failed.

So last Nintendo direct for SSB before launch.

The last fighters for launch will be Ken and Infernroar, sure why not. Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles II confirmed as coming out too late to join as a full character but gets a Mii skin.

Also DLC confirmed (bet Rex will be in there somewhere). But wait, the first DLC character already in the works will be free if you buy at launch! And it's... Literally a nameless mook. Well at least Isaac and Shantae made it as assist trophies.

Normal trophies will be replaced by spirits, which you can equip on your fighters to grant them special abilities, like the stickers but more variety and cooler. Seems like there'll be quite a lot of them, including Nino, Pyra, revolver Ocelot, that got me hyped to be honest. Each gets their own battle to unlock where they're possessing one of the main fighters with custom behaviour, like Owain has Chrom fight with a killing edge and do taunts all the time and Gutsman gets a giant megaman prioritizing throws. Then they'll need to be leveled up to power up to full, yay...

Also remember how they kept killing previous characters to show the new ones? People were even taking bets on who would die this time..

Kirby still Sakura's favorite strongest Nintendo character confirmed.

Prepare to Hiii  Kirby is a baby eldritch horror from beyond.  Of course he's the most powerful.
Prepare to Hiii (Part 2 - Morpho)
Prepare to Hiii (Part 3 - Shiver Star)
Prepare to Hiii (Part 4 - Dark Matter Trilogy)
What do I win?
An awesome-five for mentioning Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

In just slightly less awesome other news, warcraft 3's getting a remake! Sure people have been asking for Warcraft IV, but I'll take this, in particular because it'll come with a world editor, yay!

Oh, and for the next two weeks Destiny 2 is free on battle.net in case somebody's interested. That game seemed to be quite hype when it launched. Would try it out myself if I had the time and proper net connection.

Dunno if somebody else around here plays Fire Emblem Heroes, but they just released a pretty spiffy new mode "Aether Grounds" where you basically can design your own map with a variety of support buildings and actually pre-position your units and even test the setup against yourself and watch the replays of other players tackling it. Also your units won't suicide rush. As an extra bonus (for those of you who don't know, "PvP" in Fire Emblem games has usually been that you send out a team and other players face it controlled by the AI in random maps). Also it's supposed to be that you get your flying castle and are ramming it into other Aether Castles to loot their magic fuel (the aether, which is actually present in the form of two buildings that do give extra aether if destroyed but if you kill the whole enemy team before doing so you lose the chance) which makes for a pretty awesome image.

Contrast with the normal arena mode which was all the PvP content we had before:
-Couldn't watch defense replays.
-Your team would start in half-random positions in random locations which could really screw their day.
-There's this scoring system that basically cuts out half the units right away and makes it so that only the most bloated armors and rare infantry can hope to reach the top tiers.
-No extra objectives besides just muderizing the enemy team.

And as reward, the new mode offers you freaking Holy Grails to summon heroes of your choice! We're Fate/Stay Night now Ahem, just heroes that had already been offered as rewards for time-limited events, but it's still pretty nice since you need multiple copies to fuse to get top stats, and you can also sacrifice extra copies to transfer their abilities to other units. Which was a hard decision when you only got 1-3 of them, but now we can possibly farm up to 20 copies of each!

Also the paralogue for the new characters ("pure" versions of male Corrin, female Corrin, their mother and Camilla with a deck of magic dream cards) is actually serious where before it was silly "hey guys there's a tournament to celebrate the season let's fight!" at best.
