You notice the shaft of light that had been piercing the darkness of the inside of the pit suddenly wink out, and there is an uncomfortable silence afterward as you wonder what's going on out there...

Xuuvosic ambles up the volcanic slope slowly but without slipping (climb speed 10'). Upon reaching the top and noticing the portal wink out, he eyes the Balor with even greater wariness, ready to jump off the side. "Guess it makes sense that the package would be kept in a fucking dead zone. Not loving this shit though. What's next?"

He points down into the pool of lava in the center of the caldera, from which you can feel waves of heat pouring off even from hundred feet away and says "It's in there. You want to go get it yourself? Or should I fetch it for you?" He smiles a terrible grin and leans over, waiting for your answer.

Marlowe tips his head back to look up at the pit's entrance. "It seems we're waiting on Xuuvosic to reopen the pit. Unless, of course, he no longer has it."

"As far as I know, there's just a lot of lava and the... object you desire. I haven't been here in a couple of days, though. So maybe a dragon decided to move in. Who knows?" He smiles that terrible grin again.

"Gimme a sec, I'm gonna let the other cats out of the bag." With that Xuuvosic climbs back down past the edge of the dead zone. "Alright, we're there. But watch your asses and hand me a rope. It motherfucking steep out here and there's another motherfucking dead magic zone just above us."

"Feels like the universe loves me to bubbly pieces." Raoul commented on the mention of another dead zone. "We might want to use chain instead. At least it won't be on fire if you need to climb back in a hurry."

"Even a chain is going to get unbearably hot. I suppose "hot" still beats "on fire" however. If only we had someway to bypass the intense heat."

"I just needed the rope so you motherfuckers can get up to the top. Then you can watch my shit while I go take a lavabath. Temperature ain't a thing to me." Xuuvosic grins and makes one of his too fluid alien shrugging motions.

"All the more reason. The rope would just end up burning through before we got all the way up."

You all climb out of the pit and are greeted with a seemingly endless expanse of utter desolation, capped with an active volcano (which you're standing on), and the smiling, flaming face of a balor looming over you.

"So, Expletive Dude. What's our plan?" Raoul obviously wasn't appreciative of not being in the loop of the whole situation.

"For the moment its simple, climb up to the top and grab the package out of the lava. Afterwards shit might get complicated. But the balor at least says he on board with us taking it. Gonna have to hope that the prospect of becoming demi-lich food has actually changed his fucking attitude from badass demon default. Could be a set-up instead, but I don't see a way around it."

Marlowe nods thoughtfully. "It might be best if one of us were to come along as backup."

Ris-Janna nods slightly less thoughtfully at Marlowe's comment and looks at Raoul. "Time to find... out if you're fireproof."
