2nd duan is his rank, similar to how Dan is used to denote the rank of the fighter in Japanese martial arts. Similar to how it is in Japanese martial arts, there are grades before you graduate, and when you finish graduation, you start acquiring the technical ranks. Look up the "Chinese Wushu Duanwei system" to more or less understand how it works. It's a bit complicated but it basically means he's two levels above what a "black belt" (there are no belts in Sanda, but stars) would be. Which means he's allowed to train up to a "black belt" equivalent in Sanda(someone who's mastered all the basics), but can't award the technical Duan ranks (needs to be a 3rd Duan or higher to award the 1st Duan, 4th duan to award the 2nd duan, and 5th duan to award up to the 5th Duan).

The most amazing thing i saw in Sanda however, is that to acquire the Duan ranks you do not need only to master the technical aspects of Wushu Sanda, but also the historical and philosophical aspects. You actually need to write a Thesis on the importance of Sanda in order to move up to the higher ranks, lol.

For comparison sake, most professional Sanda fighters hover around the 2nd to 3rd Duan ranks, some are 4th. There have been many Sanda world champions that are 2nd or 3rd Duan. My cousin managed to qualify for the Brazilian championship but didn't get to the top 3, won the regionals 2 times.

So I want this to be my next Druid.

Radio Gosha has such good music videos - a shame they haven't uploaded any recently.

Anyone else notice there's a bit of a D&D and MTG crossover now?  http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/plane-shift-zendikar-2016-04-27

I've been sitting on this one a while and just thought to share.

Here's a collection of astrological symbols for every sufficiently large body in the solar system, as well as one for every single constellation.

More interestingly, it has a defunct link to an essay on how to draw up a natal chart for people born on different planets (because some people take this stuff very seriously and want to future-proof).

I kinda want to make a system where character creation involves drawing up your character's natal chart and going from there. Or just figure out a way to hack together an appropriate natal chart generating table for Eberron.

(Go on. Guess how I found that site.)

A guy made 3d models for every monster in the Monster Manual to print his own minis for D&D.  Wish I had a 3d printer now.
The DM giveth and the rogue taketh away.
I have a 5 in Charisma and Diplomacy is a cross-class skill.  Hopefully I don't piss off too many people.

3d printing is pain in the ass.

No but I think he made the models available online to download so people with their own printers can make em themselves.

I just saw Captain America: Civil War, then followed it up with an amateur production of The Gondoliers with my cousin as Luiz. Truly, this was an awesome day for entertainment, although the second part was a bit awkward because I was still geeking out about Civil War.

I don't watch Game of Thrones, and neither does my cousin, but it was still neat seeing him sitting on the iron throne. How it got from Westeros to Barataria is anyone's guess.

These are pretty sweet character sheets. I especially like how it handles keeping track of your class skills - it handles up to 7 classes, so you should have anything other than a really complicated build covered.

I took a couple of Pathfinder sheets and combined them into what for me is the perfect sheet, I think that their sheets was one of the ones I used.

Hip is still busted, but sparring sessions today went very well. Only punches, no kicks allowed. One hit you have to leave the ring, and the next one comes in. I managed to take 6 people out, consecutively, before taking my first clean hit and having to leave. Felt pretty good, especially since i'm the shortest fighter!

Dagger buried in King Tut's tomb was forged from iron from a meteorite!  :o

Meteoric iron is a much commoner material than you'd think - it's the oldest form of ironworking we have.

And a much pettier awesome thing - an entire story presented entirely by a continuous zoom. (There are flashing segments at the beginning and end, so I'd advise against watching if you have epilepsy.)

I just saw the Warcraft movie with my dad (we played Warcraft games from the original Orcs and Humans through to World of Warcraft's second expansion together) and my mom (who grudgingly put up with us playing Warcraft together and never shutting up about it). It was very enjoyable, the graphics were amazing, and the characters made you care about them. All three of us had a very good time. Certainly not an A-list movie, but a very good B or B+. Here's hoping Blizzard decides it's profitable enough to make a sequel (preferably with a little more attention paid to the script to bring it up to an A).

I've finally beaten Prime and am now number 10 for most time spent on the boards!

Looks like I'm still number 9. Damn, I spend way too much time here.
