What are the biggest handbooks/homebrew still on BG?
« on: January 30, 2013, 09:54:15 PM »
So I transferred the 3.5 Ranger Handbook to the Rule of Cool forums, but it was a lot of work.  I was thinking that we should find any big handbooks still on BG and copypasta them over.

Know of any still not on Min-Max?

A good start would be looking here. Everything that has a BG before its name probably hasn't been ported.

I'd love for the Armor and Weaponry Handbook, the Alternative Ways to Gain New Class Skills thread, PBMC's update tiers list (with a bunch more classes), and the Ways to Expand a Spell List thread to be saved.

The problem with porting things over is that, ideally, the original author should do so, I guess, so that slows things down quite a bit, what with checking if they are able and willing to do so and deciding to do so for yourself. :-\

Alternative Class Features is one I use a lot that doesn't seem to have been ported yet.  -- Pteryx

The original author has had over a year to port it over.  If he/she hasn't done it by now, I'd say it's fair game (just remember to credit him/her in your repost).
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

We also MUST save the Fear Handbook.

I, for one, would love to see the "Tools for Fochlucan Lyrist" thread brought over.

By... Caedrus... right? Yeah, that one is quite helpful, IIRC.

And... my god... Libertad you crazy, beautiful maniac!  :lmao I can't believe how much stuff you've transferred in the last couple of days!

If you're copy-pasting into the WYSIWYG editor, then just... make sure you have the spoiler blocks open first. I saw some chunks missing on RoC.

I kinda think we should do what the CO boards over on Wizards tried to do a while ago, and compile everything into a nice packet that we can disseminate, upload, and download. That one was the COmpendium, iirc...

Then none of the handbooks will ever get lost.

If anyone agrees with this proposal, I'd be willing to take a crack at setting it up, with full credit to the original writers...

I would like to help with the effort to save the handbooks from the old boards, I went through the pages and looked for anything that hasn't been moved over.

Here is the list that I collected.  If I get permission to be a handbook writer, I can assist in posting these handbooks.  Though some of these handbooks are done by current posters, so out of respect, I would not post their work, unless they were alright with it.

Again, I'll mention that I have everything (from min-max) saved as well as handbooks saved if it was not yet ported at the time. I just haven't reposted it all. I'm talking all the random little threads with juicy min-maxing information on it. I went through all of them...

Does anyone know offhand how much storage space the old forums take up?
