Don't feel bad, I PM'd several people and no one replied till today.  I think all the pills the doctors keep foisting on me are beginning to get to me.

Keep in mind the demographics you're dealing with (i.e., RPGers) -- we've got a pretty extensive track record of being undependable.
I assume that you're simply excited and chomping at the bits to hear back, and getting anxious in light of your time-crunch -- just try to not take it to heart.

This is good, because I actually am working.

Amusingly things seemed to have a way of working out, I got some Strata done.  Actually I suppose my biggest frustration was over the lack of ideas that were flowing tonight.  I'm supposed to be making a bunch more flavor treasure, little gismos which would be useful in a world like a vacuum or a refrigerator (both already made) but now I can't think of any more.  Surely there is something I am missing.

oi, sciatica is miserable.

when mine acts up i can typically take a couple ibuprofen to reduce inflammation, then i can prop my feet up in a particular way and pop some lower back part (pelvic, tail bone, who knows). and it goes away immediately.

the worst part is i have only figured out the position for popping it with our chairs at work. cant get it to pop anywhere else... so lots of agony till i go to work again.  :bigeyes

I really need to learn how to sit back and just play a game instead of going OCD on it and minmaxing.  Case in point, my cousin and I just started a game of correspondence chess online and I'm agonizing over it, even though there is nothing at stake.

Change the focus of what you're minmaxing for - maybe the goal is to try the absolute craziest strategy, or to see how many times the opponent gives you wild looks. Or just play games where minmaxing isn't possible, either because you were handed a character or something similar.

It's not an easy change, and there's been multiple times I've had to walk away from games because I wasn't enjoying them, I was grinding them - getting a little better every day because if I didn't, it got to me. So I had to stop gaming competitively at all, in the end, and restrict myself to co-op games with friends. And even then that doesn't always work, but at least if I lose, it's to a computer, and not a human.

There is no game where you can't minmax... You can always try to do better at stuff.

Candyland.

I stand corrected.

"The winning player is predetermined by the shuffle of the cards."

But... even then... you can become extremely good with sleight of hand and handpick the winner... Isn't that minmaxing to some degree...? Lol

(I'm only joking. My post was obviously an exaggeration, but really, in most games, there's always something you can do to do better at it. Tic Tac Toe is also a game where you can't really min-max, since if two players both know the basics of the game, both will never win, only a draw is possible, with only extreme exhaustion or lack of attention being responsible for a loss.)

Chutes and Ladders, to win or end the game is a d6 roll.  That's it.

And, uhh... This rant has gotten way bigger than it was meant to be. So...

TL;DR --> The rules of Tic Tac Toe, combined with the very limited number of 7 possible winning configurations for either X or O, make it rather simple to "perfect" the game and thus i don't consider min-maxing exists with tic tac toe, since it can basically be resumed as a bunch of do's and don'ts that are extremely easy to remember and come from very basic logical thinking. Comparisons with Checkers or Chess are impossible because the level of complexity of those games make it so that the skill one has of observing all of the movement in the board and determining the optimal move while considering future moves by other players is so incredibly bigger that it just isn't possible for a human to "perfect" checker or chess(By which i mean knowing every possible game, loss, draw, or win, and for both sides and thus being able to always make the optimal choice and be unbeatable), although a computer has already "perfected" checkers and cannot be beaten, but the same is unlikely to happen with Chess anytime soon.
