Veil simply inclines her head, more interested in assessing those assembled here then making a response. Finally after the others had spoken, the shrouded gnome spoke up. "Given a team this size, I assume there are several targets that need to be taken care of, sir?"
Hmm.

Khyne watches the reactions to his entrance with sinister amusement. "The mission?  This is far more complex than merely a 'mission'."

He turns smoothly to Drax, smiling like a diplomatic shark.  "Master Smythe, thank you for joining us.  I understand that these are not your usual haunts, but I appreciate that you have agreed to meet here.  I am led to believe by certain..." he muses, "mutual friends, that you might be willing to join this motley crew I have assembled."

Turning back to the group, he opens his arms grandly with a wide grin. "My friends, this is not a mission, this is an opportunity!"  Then he drops his hands and leans against the desk, suddenly deadly serious. "The High Arcana games begins tomorrow.  I assume you've heard of them?" He smiles briefly at his own joke, and holds up the symbol of the Magi around his neck.  "I will be sponsoring a team for the Games.  The seven of you will be the members.  But mark me: the goal is not to win."

Khyne looks at each of you in turn.  "Oh yes, we want to win, of course.  But that's not the reason that I am forming this team." He leans forward, and his voice drops to a stage whisper. "We have gotten word from our informants that the Red Lotus seeks to infiltrate the Magi by winning the Games.  You will find them, trace them back to their shitholes, and destroy them -- along with the rebels who recruited them." He pauses for emphasis. "Do I make myself clear?"

The construct's eyes blaze brightly with what can only be described as an unholy fury as he booms "YES SIR!"

"Eager that one," Said the little imp in a slight whisper, as he jabbed his companion with his elbow. "Think he is on trap duty?"
“Why would he be when we have you?” Latoris made a small gesture of throwing something.
“Oh no, we are not doing that again. Once was enough, thank you.” The imp put his hands on his hips and gave Latoris as much of a glare a creature of his size can give.

The eyes behind the black veil burn brightly as if in anticipation. Though her voice remains even and void of emotion as she says simply, "Mission: accepted."
Hmm.

Quigo considers what has been said, "You know, last time I told someone this was an opportunity for them, I knowingly sent them to trigger an ambush for me.". He laughs, "I always knew you'd be the death of me."

Lightning one of Khyne cigars and taking it in, "I'm game, lets see how well you played my card."

Your proposition intrigues me. Perhaps this will grant me a new avenue for experimentation.

Khyne snaps his head in a sharp nod.  "Excellent.  I expected nothing less." He straightens, suddenly businesslike. "I will prepare the paperwork to enter this team into the Games.  I will be your sponsor," gesturing at the symbol of the Magi hung around his neck with a smug smile, "and you will refer to me as Magus Welf for the duration of the mission.

We have three days before the Games begin.  Do not actively seek out the rebels! We must not betray our true purpose until the time is ripe.  I suggest you use this time to prepare yourselves for the Games (can't have you getting killed within the first hour, I should think).  Familiarize yourselves with each others' capabilities.

Feel free to use this room for your conference."

Then Khyne gives each of you a nod, and disappears without a sound or movement.

As if there were a cue, the imp hops up onto the desk, "If we are going to get to know each other, let’s do something else at the same time. Three-Dragon, Emperor style anyone?" He flashes a deck of cards in his hands before he start shuffling them. Latoris drags up a chair and sits down.
"You think I'm talking about breaking the rules?"
"No I'm just trying to figure out how far you want them bent."

The hulking 'bot says "Oooh a card game! Don't mind if I do, though you'll have to teach me the rules first." and the chair he sits in groans heavily under his weight as he plops down in it.

"Familiarize our selves? I hope I get to keep my clothes on this time." Retaking a seat in the boss's chair he wheels him self around to play some cards. "Not much to be said really, I'm a social infiltrator. I suppose given this mission is combat based I might as well mention two of my more useful abilities. One, when I ordered you to do something you have almost no ability to resist it. Two, I can prohibit your ability to cast spells.". Smiling, "As you can figure, my general mission scope has me tracking down various unlicensed casters. Which I hope you all are not."

"Are you three just going to stand there like statues?" Asked Latoris dryly, as the little imp tried to explain the rules.

"I prefer to observe." Veil says, simply. She was the type that never said, or did, anything beyond what was necessary.
Hmm.

"Oh such humble beginnings, I am sure he had no idea. Right?" Asked the imp as he paused in his explanation. Latoris held up his hands in an innocent manner. "Good. Now, what did you depict as statue in your former life?"

Attempting to deflect, Latoris chimes in, somewhat mono-toned, "If you mean the shapely flame girl a couple blocks over, they have met, and while friendly, he found her a little too hot to handle. Now what were you saying about winning hands?"

Malifium cringed at the memory, but tried to gracefully resume his explaining.

"He doesn't have a girlfriend, she left him for me and I dumped her last week."

"...or maybe it was his sister, or yours. Who can tell them apart anyway?"
