Feivir steps into the top of the shaft, behind Lilith, and takes a look around. He clearly does not shy away from the faded splashes of blood on the rocks - instead taking a slightly longer glance toward them - and the ground near them - than others would probably find appropriate. I will do my best to keep us oriented while we're down here.

Feivir discovers nothing more than what Lilith had.

Hanner's face remains split in the broad grin it's carried for the majority of your acquaintance with him. He seems unfazed by the deadly task before you, and the mercenary glint in his eye at the prospect of silver from the mine ahead is quite apparent.

"This seems like a perilous cavern,
so lit by a singular lantern.
In finding the source
(of the sickness, of course),
it's good we start not in a tavern."

He frowns at the near-rhyme, clearly not pleased with the word selection, then shrugs, smiling again, and gestures to Vidar to lead the way.

Vidar moves on, keeping his eyes and ears alert, though he relies on the others to provide clues as to the best way to proceed.

The tunnel opens into a small, roughly rectangular chamber. Scattered chunks of silver ore surround an overturned pair of wooden carts. The lower half of what appears to be a human body juts out from beneath one of the cart’s edges. It shows no signs of movement. Dried blood is smeared across the northern wall in several places. As the bullseye lantern is turned about, exits in the walls appear and disappear in the gloom.

Lilith walks up one of the carts and picks up a chunk of silver. She studies it briefly in her hand before putting it in her pocket for safe keeping.

She points her lantern towards each direction. "So... It seems we have a choice of East or West. Any preference?"
Hmm.

"Sun rises eastward,
spilling light on open roads
and new beginnings."

Hanner also pockets a silver nugget, and eyes the body and bloodstains warily.

"In the course of life unbound,
bodies rise and fall...
perhaps an expert might be found
to comment on this wall."

"So, a vote for east."

She focuses the lantern on the blood.

Using the light of her bullseye lantern, the Hanian is able to spot a small number of prints on the ground, picked out here and there in the blood of the miner. But they are indistinct, smeared with time and dust, and whatever left them does not appear to have been back recently.

"There are some prints here, but they're not very fresh so I can't make them out." Lilith says. She turns her lantern east. "Lead on, Masters Vidar and Belegol."
Hmm.

As the Tokunnir heads out of the main mining cavern down the eastward branch, the floor begins to slope away and narrow, the tunnel becoming tighter until it was barely 10 feet in width. When the miners dug this tunnel, they must have been following a narrow seam down into the earth, the silver diving deeper.

From the middle of the group, Feivir calls forward. If we all stand back, I can summon something that I can have set it off. It will not stick around for long however, so perhaps we might try to spot the trigger first? And also make sure we are well out of the likely range of whatever this trap actually is.

"Excellent." Lilith says before turning to Belegol. "Do you think you can guess, within 5 feet, where the trigger may be?"
Hmm.

"Let us hope that we have not somehow passed beyond the trigger. It would be embarrassing to retreat, only to trigger the trap. How awkward!"

Belegol steps back about ten feet, not wanting to get hit by whatever is going to happen.

With Belegol's search coming up empty, Feivir makes sure the party has backed up a reasonable distance. Once everyone is clear, he steps up next to Belegol, reaches down and firmly grips the engraved femur sewn to the leather covering his right leg, and starts chanting in his strange tongue. In front of the wall, a monkey appears, and starts jumping on the floor and bouncing off the walls.
