I guess that means I don't have to finish my character, right?   :P

I'm fine-tuning my background, but the gist will remain the same. I wish I knew more about the setting but knowing it's a one-shot, it likely won't matter too much.

Oh no, you're going to get killed by something random from your backstory...

TBH, I don't know much about the setting - it's a "fits anywhere" WotC adventure. If you think Aztec jungle, though, you're close enough.

Look at Yangles' backstory and tell me what you think.   :smirk

Heeeeeey Strat, am I allowed to get all weird and crazy with my Jester?

So, my character is going to have been a noble-in-hiding. Do you want to be my family's court jester? We were captured as hostages and trained in combat subsequent to our rescue, but our rescuers' ascetic order was too stuffy for us. :D

Are you okay with me being weird and crazy?  :P

Just a general note that the one-shot is mostly going to be (from the NPC side) in generic western fantasy mode. For those who haven't recognized the name (hopefully everyone), it's a less well known WotC adventure, and they don't stray too far from that. How you want to approach the adventure is up to you.

My best friend from high school met me in a D&D game where I was playing a crazy gnome.  I got really into role-playing that guy.  My friend started out thinking that I legitimately had mental issues.

You had your chance to tell me to play a normal character.   :P

If you liked my backstory, you'll love the introductory post that I'm writing!

Nans, I'm guessing right now that Yangles likes irritating Rotu more than basically anything else in the entire world. :lmao

Butting in from the peanut gallery, I just wanted to add two things.

First of all, re: nans' random throwing thingies bag, check this out. That was made for a High Arcana Games character I had, which I was super bummed about never getting to play (Succubus/Jester/Shamurai).

Second of all, re: throwing stuff - I guess it's too late to make a shameless plug for a Sniper dip so you can take Extra Trick? :D

There have been many a campaign with promising premises and characters. I definitely miss quite a few myself!

Strat, would you be willing to grant access to Garryl's Power of Cybernetics modules (by way of the Activate Module feat)? There are several with neat benefits, and which could be reflavored as a Monk's ability to focus ki (in a way, re-aligning it with incarnum a bit). While I wouldn't choose anything too technological due to the ability to fit in the Generic Fantasy Setting, there are many which would fit with a bit of refluffing. Dark Visor, Hammer Beam, Hydro Guard, Impulse Soles/Temporal Accelerator, Scan Visor (fits the vigilante theme). As fun as the others Garryl suggested would be, it's a bit harder to justify. :)

The only problem with that custom item is that I get big bonuses with Improvised Weapons and those aren't specifically labeled as improvised.  Other than that it's great!  (But too expensive, that's way above WBL.)

Jester is too integral to my vision for me to take a two level dip into Sniper.  Sorry, I'm in love with how ridiculous Yangles is!

If you want. Garryl will be allowed to yell at you if you misuse his creation, of course.

Well, it was among his recommendations. I just can't imagine generic fantasy land having actual cybernetic implants available. :D

Huh, that's true it doesn't specifically say they're improvised. That was 100% the intent though, since it was specifically requested for that character, which also needed improvised weapons the Jester/Shamurai combo. FWIW, it does say "normal weapons have never been drawn from the bag." In any case, being too much for WBL is still an issue. Though with weird custom items like that, I'd guess all things are mutable. It's all in the fluff anyway.

Same story. I'll try and catch up this weekend.

In the past couple weeks I've been assigned to 4 new projects all at the same time. And I'm still involved with one or two others. Bleurgh.
