Once Eric recognizes Robert, he speaks to him (making sure no one is nearby):

"It's most likely the queen of all those spiders we killed. I think after her body is identified, we should probably have her burnt. I forgot how that thing reproduced, and Jones isn't around to ask."

A gentleman approaches you "Excuse me, but do either of you happen to be a Constable?  I ask because you seem to be in charge here..."

Robert nods in assent before noticing the man. "Not in any official capacity, no, but with things as they are now...Anyway, you needed something?"

"There's...been a happening at the docks.  Someone needs to see this."

He looks shocked beyond the need for facial expression.

"Fuck. I'll go.

Someone needs to see that this woman is identified, her next of kin notified, and her body burned afterwards."

Before Eric a brine encrusted dinghy bobs gently, its wood aged and rotten to the point where the thing ought to fall apart as the slightest movement, and its insides slick with algae and sea scum washed aboard through was was surely a near capsize.  This boat has had a bad trip, and its passenger no better than it.  Unconscious and arm half slung over the edge was a haggard man who looked to be in his mid 30s, his taupe colored hair and beard mattered down with kelp and salt.  His leggings wear intact, but his shirt was torn in several places.  Somehow in spite of all that his body seemed free of any serious injury or marking.  A waterlogged leather satchel is tied about his other arm and pressed against his abdomen.

This man is alive and breathing softly, clearly exhausted from whatever ordeal he faced.  A keen eye on his health would indicate he is likely suffering from dehydration and possibly starving.

After several minutes hunched over the corpse, Robert's forced to admit that his lack of formal medical training might be hindering him somewhat. For the time being, he merely takes a few samples of the acid, stowing them carefully in glass vials and padding them with extra layers of cloth. That done, he starts asking passersby if they know who the woman is and where her living relatives can be found.

Given her condition it's difficult for many to recognize her, but it's implied she is a woman of low character who did whatever was necessary to pay rent and food, and desperation likely forced her outside when no one else would go.  It turns out she is well known in these quarters, and has no living relatives.  You are begged to avenge the manner of her passing by quite a few angry street folk.

There is however a young man with a stone face and unfocused eyes who waits silently, and as the people disperse he is still staring at you quietly.

Eric calls out to the man in the boat to see if he can rouse him. If he does not awake, he looks for a way to get the man within reach.

Eric yells out, but the man only barely twitches.  He does not appear to be conscious.

Robert sets about the grim task of burning the poor woman's body, careful not to touch it with his bare hands or breathe in any of the smoke. Once done, he checks to see if the young man is still staring at him.

He's been watching you the entire time.

If at all possible, Eric draws the boat in as close as possible and attempts to get the man out of it (he has rope).

If he gets the man out, he attempts to rouse him with a bit of water from one of his water skins.
