Just make sure to stand up front so you can take all the hits.  :D

I already figured that I'm the tank.  :P

I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the two handed maul or go sword and board to be a tank.  Probably going to keep the maul.

All right, it looks like everyone's got a character up. Barring anything catching my eye when I look over them, I'll post an IC thread tomorrow during the morning or early afternoon (for me).

Having looked over the character sheets, everything seems to be mostly in order. The only two things that jump to my eye is Zuzie's AC should be 13 from what I can tell (11 base from leather armor, +2 Dex - yes, leather armor is +1 AC over being unarmored in this edition), not 14, and Nanshork's character doesn't appear to have a name yet. These don't seem that hard to fix, so I've gone ahead and posted the IC thread early as penance for a weekend of dead air. We're not starting completely in medias res, so you have until the blood actually starts spilling to mess with your sheets and decide on two-handed versus sword and board and whatnot. No pressure though. ;)

Yeah I think I just didn't consider that size bonuses/penalties had things changed or removed cause that's most likely where the extra point of AC was coming from.

I don't have a name or any of my fluff, I'll get that fleshed out as quickly as possible and then start posting (because I can't post without a name).

Edit: I'm not motivated enough to turn my chosen traits/ideals/whatnot into a coherent story so I'll leave them as is.  I have a name and languages so I'm done now.

Edit edit: Went ahead and rewrote chosen traits/ideals/etc into coherent sentences instead of basic notes so now they function as a basic backstory and personality guide.

No problem. That's a great way to make a backstory.

You can tell about how long the horses have been dead without a roll. I'll let others announce what they're doing before I post the results, though.

Plopped myself in the wagon since I'm the fattest and least melee oriented. Figure I'll use the dwarf connection as I flesh out my backstory.

I suppose I wasn't really planning much of an in-depth backstory. A young gnome, probably grew up going around running errands for/with Gundren within city limits and befriending him as she grew up. Picking up the entertainer lifestyle from having an obsession with being the center of attention; a trait acquired from an entire lack of attention from an overly aloof set of parents. Became almost as obsessed with the thrill of a fight after having a front row seat to a vicious tavern brawl during one of her performances. For awhile since, enjoyed inciting brawls between drunken patrons whilst performing. Likely took this job to get out of the city until some heat died down. Also likely has been itching to move on from just inciting violence to partaking in it herself for the extra thrill and a jaunt into a wilderness rife with bandits sounded so tantalizing.

I dunno.

I'm traveling tomorrow and probably won't be able to post until Friday night. If you need an action from me before then, I'll try, or just have Nan play me for one round.

Apparently I was really surprised.

Does switching weapons have an action?

Things you can do sort of in passing, like opening or closing a door, picking something up off the ground, or drawing or sheathing a weapon, can be done in addition to your regular turn within reason (when in doubt, one such action per round). So if you want to drop your javelin and get the big hammer out, that will essentially be a free action and you can still move, attack, and rage if so inclined.

With Stratovarius's permission, I'll have Kovoir take a fairly safe action on his turn, which is coming up now.

I was debating either hiding behind the wagon and bolting, burying the area in a fog cloud (including Nan if possible) or chucking a grease down at Nan's feet to try and make the two attackers there splat. Which could of course backfire on our melee...

Players call.

Do whatever you think best.  I doubt my character has paid much attention to you so far so he doesn't expect much.  :p

So you can just walk circles around an enemy in this without provoking an AoO?

If at no point you leave their reach, yes, not that you are ever assumed to be "walking" in combat. If you decide to do that kind of thing, you'd be circling around your opponent carefully, whereas leaving their reach to go somewhere else entails some level of turning your back on them, unless you specifically disengage.

I mentioned this in an aside in one of the IC posts, but since it's also relevant for Pieron's last turn, a ranged attack made from within 5 feet of another combatant has disadvantage. In the case of Pieron's javelin throw last round, this doesn't matter since it missed anyway, but it may be relevant to Kovoir and Zuzie if they want to deal with the archer.

I am assuming the five foot step is gone?

It is. On the other hand, ranged attacks or spells do not provoke opportunity attacks, they're just subject to the disadvantage on attack rolls (if they have one).

It appears I might be best off to club the local irritant in the face, in that case.

It looks like I'm probably going to die and should have gone with a shield after all.

So yeah, you club that guy in the face!
