Damned fractional bears.  Kuro warned us about them.

"Farewell...comrade...bear..." I mutter, bringing my sword around for one last strike.

Ah, yes, that's more like it.  I can deal with that.

The sole remaining bear, dazed and confused, remains a bear.  Of course, sensing an opportunity, it attacks!

Yep.  Still within my expectations.  I was worried there for a moment.  Phew!

Finish it off, Nanashi!

As I lash out with my sword, I let out a guttural war cry.

"COMPLETE!"  *Slash*
"AND TOTAL!"  *Slash*
"BEARNNIHILATION!"  *Stab*

Landing on the other side of the bear, I don't look at the explosion.

Everything pauses.  As if the world itself had stopped.  Then, slowly, the bear falls.  A silence lasts for a single heartbeat.

THEN ALL SOUND IS ERASED BY THE MASSIVE EXPLOSION!

I'm not even joking.  What the heck was in that bear?  I mean, really?  It just exploded?  That doesn't even make sense.

"Wow.  You did better than I thought you would.  I thought I had made the wrong choice, pulling you out of the port like that."

The rabbit-girl appears to have reappeared.

I swing my sword in a quick figure eight, sheathe it, then pause, staring directly into the camera.

After a suitably dramatic moment, I turn to the rabbit-girl.

"So, that must have been one of the exponential bears?  Thanks for cutting it down to fractional bears for us.  May I ask who you are?"

[Nanashi took the hit to vitality]

Nanashi is buffeted by the wall of explosion, but manages to dive behind a tree before the brunt of the blast hits him.

After that final terrifying ordeal, Nanashi doubles over a bit from the last hit and tries to catch his breath as the runes begin to fade from his arms.

"You know, Spider, I thought all those bear jokes were just, you know, JOKES.  You two could have mentioned you were serious."

Nanashi looks up at the rabbit-woman.  "Indeed.  You have my thanks as well.  I suppose from that last bit that you are of some import here, since you extracted us mid transport.  It is a pity that I didn't have more of a chance to read up on Wonderland before I came here, can you tell us who you are?"

Nanashi nods as if that means something important to him.  "And...  I suppose you have something you would like for us to do for you, hopefully in the vicinity of the kingdom of Spades."

"Ah, no.  I just wanted to see what you were capable of.  You're caught up in important things, after all.  It would be a problem if her champions weren't up to it."

She gestures to her right, and a hole opens up in the ground.

"The court of spades is right through there."
