[Reboot] The Big Picture
« on: May 13, 2014, 01:57:09 PM »

An ancient empire rises and falls.

Cavemen at the dawn of time found the first civilization.

Mankind leaves the sick Earth behind and spreads out to the stars.

The current topic is "the big picture". We need to brainstorm and pick something big that will define our "world" within one or two short sentences, like the previous quotes.

Post away!

P.S. The most important rule is: don't share your ideas with other players! Let's take it step by step.

Two empires fight for the last remaining site of a rare resource?

Wait, did we skip a couple people?

I couldn't remember was it when 2 people passed or was it when each person passes.

I actually remember that it was just two people passing, although I didn't look it up. I'll check again.

Besides, we were supposed to do the big picture and bookend history before the adding/banning ingredients, sorry for messing that up  :bigeyes  :flutter 0:)

I noticed earlier today that we swapped the order, and now I'm seeing how doing so is already influencing my thoughts on the big picture.

So the game document didn't seem to indicate how the big picture was to be determined.  It's just supposed to be one sentence.  Do we each throw out an idea, and we pick from those 4 or 5?

-shrugs- Sounds like a good plan.

I figured it was something like that and threw out an idea... ;a;

Actually, I quite like Gazzien's idea, so I'm going to go with that, too.

Here's something interesting....

Two INHUMAN empires fight for the last remaining site of a rare resource?

Humans across varying cultures are taught (sometimes) and begin to discover how to use "Souls" as a power source in magic and in technology.

Inhuman as in 'not human' or in 'really bad peoplez'?

Hmm... like NOT human.

Edit: Not to say it can't be "humanoids" though.

And perhaps the last remaining site is a population of Humans?

The Inhuman empires are fighting for control of the last population of humans left in a shattered world, because they're the easiest to harvest "souls" from?

Nah. I think the humans are irrelevant to these guys/things. Also if they're the last humans then It goes against the whole "varying cultures" the idea I was shooting for is that  people figure out like several different ways to do it. Also... since were out of order we already know there's gate like space exploration. So there's no reason for "the last humans"... until we start doing the timeline.

So big picture stuff:
 A. Two un-human ancient races are having a resource war.

B. Humans have souls, and across the world, cultures find this out, and develop magic and sometimes technologies, but ultimately superpowers and magic.

Really I'm just flushing out the legends and potential of humans in the game. We totally know that there's going to be an alien invasion so the resource war probably gets won by 1 side or the other and eventually make it to our "earth like" planet., the how when and why comes way later. in the game I think.

Which is a good question, Our earth? Or fantasy earth?

How about some campaign world, like Eberron?

So we'd basically just be rewriting the history of Eberron?  It's already got big bad nasty cthulhu-type things.

I'd be down with something like this.

Sure, this sounds fun.
