I'm planning on taking an Improved Familiar - torn between Dust Mephit (breath weapon, blur, ability to use my UMD ranks) and the Blink Dog (blink, tweaked Dimension Door ). What do you guys think about each ?

With one, I would have an extension of my spellcasting abilities plus Blur and a Breath Weapon, while the other would provide me with an additional layer of defense.... Combined with a Displacer Beast's displacement I can survive one more round with my squishy d6 in melee combat...

Edit: I do have another question.  Does the natural weapon effective size increase from Improved Natural Attack stack with the natural weapon effective size increases from Frostrager?  I'm guessing no just to keep things from getting too crazy.
Yes, up to Colossal, but if your worried about it being too crazy then don't do it?

Sor0, do you mind if I change my build to an Old Human (just a place-holder until I settle on a more appropriate race) Expert 1/Ranger 1/Monk (Stately Ancient Sifu ACF) 3/Unrepentant Pact-Bound Hunter 10/X 5 (curse you persistently blank final levels!)
A. That entire thing is a little High++ Op isn't it? Ignore Stunning immunity, infinite Stun usage? Hey why not give auto-spell-channeling attacks to go with the infinite spell casting, and extra damage on top of that, and heck extra Invocations for like two Feats while you're at it for like two Feats? Oh... You did.

B. Was actually wondering about Stunning Fist's cap being reduced and revamped into a self regenerating trait. Only reason I didn't was because it's comparable to Bardic Music (both 1/day/level) and *shudders* Metamagic Song would be insane.

So that being said, I suppose I could offer up an alternative. 1+(lvl/4) Stuns per encounter and Ascetic Mage accepts the Warlock's Invocations. It wouldn't be anything like dumping NI Stuns from an infinite pool into extra Wis-To-Attack/Damage & Stun-Immunity-Bypassing-Stun & Fiery Fist's Damage & +3d6 Damage & an entire Invocation & God-Knows-What-Else per hit in a Furry of Blows multiple attack action with the strongest Weapon in D&D, but you'd kind of sort of have infinite Stuns per day for Ki stuff and the ability to augment your Monkyness with Warlock.

***

Also, only level 1 has any NPC levels. It's a skill/social based very low combat time period simultaneously giving you a way to act out in character if the other timelines are not delivering your favorite level of RP and lets face it you'll be trying using this split up time line to your advantage anyway.
lv15-NPC: What do you know about Karse?
lv1-You: Daddy, whose is that man dressed up like that over there?
Daddy: Oh, some merchant from Karse.
lv1-You: Really, what do you know about it?
lv4-You: *to the librarian* I'm studying Geography, got any maps of say, different countries?
lv9-You: Job well done, vacation time. I heard Karse is pretty cool this time of year.
lv15-You: Everything.

So hopefully it'll be the thread most of that effort is channeled into as you in fact you have a form of permission to use your level 1 snapshot exactly like that. Only arc planned for it amounts to an introduction to a later timeline will have to deal with anyway, rest is just winging it.

I'm so bad at toning myself down even more than I normally do.   :p  Level 20 monk damage + unarmed damage size increase to Gargantuan is probably too much.  If it isn't I'll just take Improved Unarmed Strike way late or something.

Oh, here's a real question.  Gear.  Does each level get its own WBL independent of other levels or does my level 9 build start with the gear I bought at level 4 and then gain the WBL only from levels 5-9?

Hmm...

How about just buy for each snap shot how you like barring exceptions like I *had* to had Wish cast at lv9 for Skills. Then we'll toss in some flavor for an excuse. Like lv1<>lv4 commoner gear vs finally have magical items is pretty easy, lv4 vs lv9 well maybe what you wanted in school isn't what you needed in the real and plus being called on by the nation to play hero and maybe the king replaced some gear for you and I'll just have to remember to call that out for ya. Same with the lv14 (15? lol forgot) version. McWizard restocks you to be a little more appropriate regardless of what left overs you had before.

I'm only asking because at level four I NEED armor and at level nine I will hate armor.  I'm serious, go look at my armor class in my level four snapshot.   :P

Well, I would have less Invocations than a Warlock, I won't take Barrage of Fists or Simple Snake Understanding, and... yeah.
However, if that's not OK, I will accept the alternative (which is kinda rad, anyway.)

Sorry about the slowdown... SorO, I have enough work to do IRL and on Extractor that I don't know if it'll be ready in any timely fashion.  Should I switch to a different concept, or are we content to wait for Extractor to be done?  If the former, Cycle Warden is calling to me...

SorO, would you be okay with a variation of this homebrew class.

For Op level, I would say probably nerf or even remove the Shadowbolts. I mostly want to stick with the casting mechanic as is.

Would there be any other power concerns besides the shadow bolts?

I have no idea. Remember how Sherlock once said he doesn't care if Sol goes around the Earth or not? I've got already 5 players and a 6th wanting to squeeze in (you're #7).

Ahh.

Players: Amechra, InnaBinder, Nanshork, Risada, sirpercival.
In the wing so to speak: phaedrusxy, Kaelik.

As mentioned you can get with someone and see about sharing a character. There is two major stipulations.
1. It is the same character. Game is based on the same characters from different time periods being ran simultaneously.
2. Remember you're not one of the guys that jumped in to start with, you are playing by someone else's good grace.
No Alex wants Zack to be a Warlock at level 4 and Bob wants Zack to be a Warblade at level 9 and Carol thinks Druid is better for later on or whatever. And while I'm not saying first come first serve gets to lord over the other guys, but really if you can't get along we both know who'll be staying and who won't.

But if you're interested in that route, it's up to you guys to work it out. I'm not paid enough to micromanage.

FTFY.

The Extractor is done except for the extraction rule rewrite.  I'm going to build my char using the class as-is, because I doubt we'll get far enough for it to matter before I finish that part.  Lol.

Phaedrus, you're welcome to one of the snapshots -- which would you like?  I'm going Rilkan for the race, Expert for the NPC class (what else would it be? lol), and then straight Extractor.

EDIT: And phae, do you want to build your snapshot, or have me do it?
