"I came for a similar purpose to this group, actually. I had seen the ad posted of how you'd lost people; I was to offer my skills for tracking them down." He looks over the strange group, a smile forming on his face. He thought how fated it was such an odd group might intercept him at his first job in a town, and he said so; "How.... fated." Once introductions were done, he introduced himself, a hand on his chest with a slight bow. Very respectful and respectable. "My name is Kelzan Galaren. If you'll have me, I would rather assist you in this search." He didn't elaborate, but his hooded cloak, large bow, and tunic suggested he was a wild man of some sort, though his clothes were well made, and a circlet that might have been a crown was on his head.

Grugruk steps forward and gives Kelzan a grin, his enlarged canine and slight gray green tint to his skin betray the orcish blood flowing through his veins. Keeping his dogs close to his side, he says, Seems the spirits have put us on the same path. Another set of hands couldn't hurt. Any good with that bow of yours? Might come in handy. What do you guys think?

"You three were happy to team up with Fina and I so I'm hardly in a position to argue against a new member. Something tells me we may need all the help we can get against these robbers and kidnappers."

Korth turns to Mrs Yanques "If you wish to accept our help, that is. My companions and I would appreciate anything you can tell us about the dissapearance of your loved ones and those responsible for it. Descriptions of the kidnapped would also be helpful." He produces a book of bound parchment and an ink pen and prepares to write down anything of significance.

"Glad to have you on the team! Surely we'll have this solved soon!" Fina seems to positively radiate a good attitude despite the cramped, dismal surroundings.

Turning to Mrs Yanques, Grugruk asks her, And if possible, a few articles of their clothing, or maybe a bit of their bedding, something my dogs can get a scent off of.

Hmm... well now,... just a minute.
She reaches in, just inside the doorway, grabbing a waterproof parasol.
She steps out into the rain, putting the implement over her, then stepping to cover the paper of Korth's book too.
She looks at Korth, though as she speaks, her head drifts down, then back up several times.
Well, I don't really know much. No one really does, you see. We've had some trouble with gangs around here, but the main ones never really bothered us simpler folk. Now, whoever's doing this, they're a bit less picky.
They're just taking people. Once in a while, a when someone disappears, someone sees them go get knocked out and dragged off. Sometimes it's just an individual who gets carried away, sometimes it's a pair. All told, I know of 23 people who've been kidnapped, though I wouldn't be surprised if there were more.
Ain't always just people, either. Mr. Deyaza was taken with his horse.
Some of the people get turned back to their families, for a price. They get contacted by letter, given a place and a time to leave their money, and if all goes well, the person gets turned back pretty beaten, but in a way that heals well enough. That Mr. Deyaza I mentioned, he's a minor House member, so he was payed back the day he was taken. Didn't get his horse though.
Others, well, they get sold. A few were sold as slaves to people to the south. I guess some of the clearing work being done on the marshes is being done by forced labor. A young cousin to an old friend of mine, Drosh Laeon, he was sold to them down there after he was taken. He escaped and returned.
He told others that he'd been walking to the market, trying to see if he could get more of the special salt they use to keep the fish from going bad, when he was knocked out. He woke with a sore head in a small wooden cage, in a stone room with five others who were also in cages.
Later on, a man who was wearing clothing all over came in. Not like spooky eyes here.

She barely motions a hand to Grey
As I gather, the man Drosh saw was wearing pieces of maroon cloth over his nose, mouth, and head. Had some kind of slanted eye-wear over his eyes, though they didn't have anything like goggles to them, though that's what it looked like, he said. The man was wearing black pants, and a black tunic, but he had a cape with a high collar that was maroon too. Drosh said the man looked about as tall as him, so that'd be about 5'4".
Anyway, the man took out a bog sword, and smacked him with it through the slats of the cage. Musta used the broad of the blade, cause there weren't any cuts on him when he woke up, chained in a carriage headed south.
As soon as he could, he managed to make an escape good from the work camp down there. Got a few others who'd been with him out too. A good cousin, my friend has.
As far as the people who've been taken? Well, I only really know about a few. Those of us who've been talking to each other, trying to figure this all out, six families that have been gathered together by this. They put me in charge of talking to people, my duty as the eldest.
My son has short black hair, not much of a physique, and grey eyes, like mine. He just turned 30 this year. His name is Soya.
The Darkyues, their son Bander, his wife Mayru, and their child Josa were all taken. Ages 23, 20, and 4. His hair is brown, hers red, both keep it long and in a tail. The child has his fathers hair, but his mothers green eyes.

She looks over at Fina.
Mayru looks much like you, deary. Though not quite as pretty.
They're a family of pressmen, putting the ink to paper.
Mrs. Kareth is missing her husband of 16 years. He's got a grey beard and bushy mustache, but nothing up top. In more ways than one, to hear her talk. But he's got a body built from shipwork.
Mr. Dorno is missing his daughter. He's a trading manager so I'm surprised he hasn't been contacted for a ransom. She has blonde hair, and... well, lets just say I wouldn't be surprised if she needed a bigger cage.
Neka Somsing, he doesn't really have family, but his business partner Jannie Goreth has been with the rest of us. They grew up together, and Jannie can't run their bakery by himself. Neka has got just the deepest blue eyes, his brown hair is kept in a tail like the Darkyues. He is a tall one, too, you can't miss him when he stands up.
Then you have Marisa Venai's kid. Never knew his daddy...

She looks at GruGruk this time.
I don't suppose you know the man? Went back to his tribes about 16 years ago. He was a different shade than you, so maybe you're not from the same plains as him. Doubt he even knows he has a kid. He was brought in to help build some ships, you see..... OH, sorry about that.
HoSe Venai, he's a half-orc. A little darker yellow-green than you. He has yellow eyes, and he dyes his hair purple. Some kind of attempt to be like the dad he hasn't met, I think.
...

Well, anyway, If you can help us get people back, we would be grateful. All of us have gotten together a little coin to help pay for services rendered, upwards of 15 platinum bars, depending on how many, and who, you can bring back.

Turning to Mrs Yanques, Grugruk asks her, And if possible, a few articles of their clothing, or maybe a bit of their bedding, something my dogs can get a scent off of.

hmm? I think I have something of Soya's from the last time him and his wife visited me.
She goes into the house, leaving the door open behind her. She comes back out in mere moments with a strip of thick grey cloth.
Here, this is the scarf he'd been wearing. He was taken about two days later. That was almost a month ago now.
She holds it out to you, offering for you to take it.
Be sure he gets it back, would you?

Grey says "That's a lot of people. When did these kidnappings start? And when was the most recent one that you know of?

I'm wondering how big of an operation this might be. They're going to need a place to hold their victims, and evidently it is a well hidden one. Otherwise, they'd have been caught already.

Anything that all of the victims had in common, especially in the time of day and place that they were abducted from?"

Sckhar thinks while Grey and the other guy spoke.

"I guess these kidnappers want more than sell people as slaves... Is there any kind of shaddy cult or obscure religion being worshipped in town? "

She looks at Grey.
Oh, a few months ago. Drosh was taken about two months ago, and he got back just last week. The most recent would've been Abele Kareth, the fisherman I mentioned. He went missing two days ago.
Nothing I can think of about common things. Rich, poor, healthy, sick, not too picky these people. Day or night, by the docks or the eastern quarter. Heck, when Mr. Deyaza was taken, it was just after midnight, and he was taken off of Port Street. When Drosh was taken, he was walking down an alley off of Merchants Way in the middle of the afternoon. In the open, secluded, rich, poor, ransomed, sold, midnight, midday, nothing at all in common between them.

She looks over at Sckhar.
Not that I'd know of. Some people who work down at the docks been acting a little off, but with what's in the air right now, that figures well enough.

"So the storage could be a warehouse, near the docks for easy transport. Disorient people not so they can't run, but so they don't realize how close they are to freedom. Clever." The elf seems both impressed, repulsed, and deep in thought all at once. To himself, he was glad he prayed the Turnfeather God today. He had an idea for rooting these people out. "Not much chance that we might see something just today, though perhaps if we examined the markets for large enough, stone storage facilities, or otherwise suspicious clothing like described, we might uncover something."

Korth notes down the main points of Mrs Yanques information, taking particular care with the names and descriptions of the missing. He tries to think of anything he knows that might help but detective work in a human city is outside his expertise so he lets the others do the talking.

He does pay close attention to Mrs Yanques as she speaks, not because he suspects she is lying but simply to cover all the bases.

Grugruk accepts the scarf with a promise, Of course, possessions always have a way of finding their way back to their owner. It'd be a dishonor to my tribe if I didn't try to help it on It's path. As for the boy's father, I don't recognize him, but as far north as my tribe is, I doubt I've met him.

To his allies (new and old) Grey says mentally <This old lady might be more than she seems. She has a very keen mind... as keen as any of yours. She does seem to be human, or at least close to it, though.>

Korth starts slightly at the mental contact, he had not realized there was a telepath among his new compatriots. He attempts to think back to Grey <I believe you may be correct about that. I was watching her as she spoke and there were two moments that seemed odd. Also, she does not appear unsettled by our appearance. Not in the slightest. Perhaps she is simply numb with grief but perhaps, as you say, she is more than she seems.>

<<The warning is welcomed>> "We appreciated your time. We'll do what we can to get them back," turning to the group, he says, My hounds might be able to find something too. Depending on what they can get from this scarf. I wish I could give them something fresher, but this'll have to do.

"Well, I kind of figured. Your skin is a different shade, and your body is a bit more like HoSe's than his dad's."

"We appreciated your time. We'll do what we can to get them back,"
"Oh, thank you sir. I wish I could do more to help. I'm pretty good at getting things done for people, but I've never been much for the types of affairs your lot gets into. So, please, bring my son back safe to his wife."
