Random idea: Beholder, Firework.

This sure looks like a beholder, no?

Somehow I always thought the Inverted Beholder would have suction powers on it's cone attack as well. And a stomach bigger than the outside.

Is Drammor still here?  I can change it if that sounds good.  It sounds like a neat option for me.  Mybe change one of the eyes into a telekinetic pull

Yes, I am still here. Those are amazing ideas, really. I love them.

Maybe after I'm done with the planar binder series, I'll make a beholder binder. There are certainly enough of them.

Vortex could use an automatic bite and swallow attack if the movement leaves them inside the Beholder's space.

the good fols at gitp are freaking out about the rend damage.  They believe it means a potential tpk if the beholder goes first and gets off the hold monster blast.

Not quite that bad I expect, each of the bites are melee, and not at a spectacular accuracy, dealing low individual damage each. Rend kicks in only once per attack salvo.

It's also squishy, I mean, it's a beholder. Glass cannons are their thing.

their thought is that if the beholder paralyzes everyone it just rends one per round.  Granted the blast effect is random

If it managed to paralyze everyone(which is extremely unlikely given the pre-conditions), it's already won the fight.

The living spells expire in (CL) minutes anyway, that and the spells being stuff the beholder normally does, I'd say its fine.

Thoughts on CR since it can summon so many oozes?

Depends a lot though, if mutual surprise, the spooge is actually quite weak, since it'd only ever generate two slow moving living spells before it's killed.

It can summon all of them as a Free Action on it's turn.  It can put out all the oozes at once.

Oh wait, misread it. Hmm, it'd be killed pretty quick anyway, so CR should be that of all the oozes together, + adjustment for getting basically a surprise round(while the PCs kill the beholder)
