"I will allow no sound to be louder than my song, foul creatures.

Size is no merit, lest inordinate exsanguination be a virtue!"

Without stopping his requiem, Hector's feet glow with a dark purple hue. Hector's legs open in a perfect vertical split before his heel comes crashing down like an axe onto the beast's flank.  If he's successful, one might notice the blood flowing a bit more freely than it ought to, filling the area with a reddened mist.

While Decus is dazed, Carnelian twin blood spears latch in the flank of the remaining bloody bull, further restricting its movements. Hector takes the chance to try to deliver what would be a pretty nasty kick, except at the last split second a series of explosions occur at the beast’s side from Reilynn’s heavy bombardment. Thus Hector is thrown off balance and just kicks the ground.

The caged carmine eagle breaks free from its restraints and its own beak starts glowing while the other starts flapping its wings with extra vigor, starting to build a crescent wind and the heavily wounded Bloody Bull snorts and foams spit and blood, seemingly ready to attack again, but all three beasts hold back from completing their attacks this time, as if something was telling them to wait a bit.

Then you hear a series of eerie voices around you, not sure if they’re actually talking through the air or directly to your minds or even straight to your very souls, all talking as one, echoing each other’s words, almost as if singing a coordinated choir:

“Hmmm, that style, a trio noble vampires? And an angel and android?  Seems like we started off the wrong foot, so how about we take a pause and try to properly introduce ourselves this time? We’re in charge of Portimão’s border security in the name of the new vampire leadership.  We humbly apologize for our sentries rude reception, they’re a bit too zealous and lacking in education due to the recent change of government so they couldn’t tell your fine vampiric status right away. Certainly you taking down one of them shoud be enough compensation for their mistake. If you’ll stand down, we’ll happilly escort you inside. If not… ”

"Hmph." Hector reluctantly puts away his violin, levitating a couple of feet off the ground for effect. "I take it we're only the first vampires to make their way here and survive such a boorish reception. As far as I'm concerned, your apologies are accepted... for the time being."

“Oh, but there were more vampire arrivals, milord. Although those were invited so we were warned to let them through, milord. Not all showed up though, strange, milord. I wonder why they didn’t invite you, milord. Like, you’re Lord Hector, right milord? Only saw some drawings of you in newspapers and read the articles but you’re totally him, I’m sure, milord! You run of the few schools that openly accepts both vampires and living, with a pretty great reputation to boot,  I totally would’ve invited you to come check Portimão’s new leadership if I was in charge, milord. But alas I’m just following orders nowadays, milord. Free will is overrated anyway, milord. Well, follow me then milord-Oh wait, guess I should show myself first, silly me, milord.”

"The reason you don't cast reflection on a mirror is because a mirror is essentially glass over a liquid silver surface and silver disagrees with our kind. One of our female students has since discovered that sufficiently polished surfaces can still reflect our image. Failing that, a pool of still water with sufficient lighting should be more than capable of helping you with your makeup woes.

And don't worry. Once you have overcome your current deficiencies, you'll be able to taste sweets again. They won't taste as sweet as blood, however. One of our home economics students is working on a way to make blood cake that is palatable to humans and vampires alike."

Hector's reputation for kindness was not entirely undeserved. He didn't share his student's findings to show off but rather grant a small modicum of hope to those that might consider the unlife of vampiredom a dreary experience.

"Come, Mausenkind."

Out from Hector's shadow emerges a tiny, tiny girl, dressed in greens and browns, whom promptly finds her way up Hector's cloak to sit at his shoulder. He whispers to the literal little girl.

Decus snapped out of his daze as the new arrival was beginning to turn away and lead them into town.

"Oi, what just happened, I think I might've blacked out there for a second. Who is the girl? Did we kill them all? Hah! Alright then."

"Oh, are we going in then?" he queried as he followed Hector's lead in trailing after the new girl.

Taking Hector's lead, Reilynn would compact her cannon before turning to Elvira. Her hands would reach for small cleric's shoulders but stop when she snaps too. She floats ready to cast more magic but the lack of beasts and the new girl apparently leading them makes her rethink. "Um, what happened?" "Those beast are a part of the city's security and they were mistaken in attack us. The one responsible for them has apologized and offered to take us into Portimão." the chobit explains before turning around to follow the girl. "I see..." Vira would follow along as well.

Carnelian seems to be more occupied with making sure that her maid isn't suffering some mortal injury, but with Nitinol insisting that she's mostly fine, she eventually turns her attention to the vampire guide, "Don't do anything stupid and eventually most of those weaknesses stop being a problem," excluding, of course, the vast rudeness that would be entering somebody else's house without any permission. "It's more convenient to be able to go out in the sunlight during the summer months, even if it's unpleasant."

The malicious aura around her faded away.

"Oi, what just happened, I think I might've blacked out there for a second. Who is the girl? Did we kill them all? Hah! Alright then."

: “I’m Raposa, captain of Portimão’s border security. And no, you only killed one of the guardian beasts I worked out so hard to convert. Although against a legendary angel such as yourself, that’s not too shabby if I may say so myself.”
: ”-say so myself.”

"Those beast are a part of the city's security and they were mistaken in attack us. The one responsible for them has apologized and offered to take us into Portimão."

: “As expected of the personal doll of a cleric of Bonnie, even an unofficial one. It’s not like I’ve ever actually met an official one, though... ”
: ”-official one, though....”

"Don't do anything stupid and eventually most of those weaknesses stop being a problem,"

: “Oh, speaking from experience, milady? Something tells me you’ve been doing this for even longer than lord hector, milady. Yet you seem to keep a lower profile, milady.”
: ”-lower profile, milady.”

: “Well would love to keep chating but have work to do, absolute orders to obey, your graces. You should report to the town hall first, the bosses are there holding a meeting right now, there’s no missing it, just go straight ahead to the center of the city, your graces.”
: ”-the city, your graces.”

"Keeping a lower profile than Hector is quite a simple task," Carnelian jokes, shrugging and continuing along the path. Absolute orders? Someone really was quite the new vampire in that case. Potentially useful to know if things turned south.

"Bosses, eh? Alright, now we're talking! We gonna be banging up some big wigs next then?" Decus cheerily calls out, making his way in the direction indicated to the town hall.

"There are advantages to a high profile." Hector states simply. Especially when he's got a reputation. It means less suspicion when you need to, say, slaughter a village.

You walk through the dark streets, not a soul in plain sight, until reaching a fancy three-stories big building, old but well kept, that’s clearly the town hall. The big door opens and you’re greeted by a mortal maid that respectfully bows and invites you in.

“You are expected, lords and ladies. Please follow me.”

Ascending the stairs, Carnelian turns to Nitinol and makes sure that all her clothes are in order--a maid was a much more convenient utility than a mirror, and one could not meet the leaders of a town without looking as presentable as possible. Then she enters, looking at the trio... even from the brief exchange, the dynamic between them couldn't be more apparent. One pushing for power and gratification, one taking the moral highground, and the third to mediate between them.

"I hope that by vintage you don't simply mean old? I have never met a person who ages the same way as wine," she jokes, not mentioning--yet--their little welcoming party. See if one of them lets it slip.

Decus runs a hand through his hair at the pleasant greeting by the seated lady. "Why thank you for the compliment, miss. I'm sure you use to look absolutely stunning yourself in your livelier days." He shoots her a charming smile back as he playfully swishes his flask in hand.

Hearing the bit about Reilynn being Vira's personal doll, they both shake their heads. "No you have it wrong, she's not my property, she's my friend..."

The two would follow the fledgling vampire and then the maid up the stairs of the town hall. Being directly addressed by one of the vampires, Vira was taken a bit by surprise. "Excuse me, do I know you? And the Goddess is wondering what is going on here, she has heard the prayers but hasn't been able to look in."

"I hope that by vintage you don't simply mean old? I have never met a person who ages the same way as wine,"
:”Although mortals too young have not properly sweetned yet, let it be clarified I mean vintage as quality. I’ve carefully sampled and selected the best crop of mortals in this city.”

"Why thank you for the compliment, miss. I'm sure you used to look absolutely stunning yourself in your livelier days."

:" Oh my, only true flattery from you, as expected of a true angel. We really need to get to know each other better. There’s plenty of nice noble maidens in this town, both lively and like me, that would be just delighted to know you too I know. Perhaps we can arrange a small soiré?"

"Excuse me, do I know you? And the Goddess is wondering what is going on here, she has heard the prayers but hasn't been able to look in."

: ”We’ve never met, but the goddess showed me visions of you doing her good work, Lady Ferrothorn! And Bonnie can still hear us, but we can’t hear her? I knew something was terribly wrong! We must destroy the wards right away!”

:”Now let’s not be too hasty. We put those wards up for a reason in the first place, remember?”

: ”Out of the question. The city wouldn’t last another day.”

"I'll take you up on that offer, I find myself parched." He was not fond of the social dynamics here. The one advocating for what seemed like rash measures looked like he had a habit of being in over his head and surviving by sheer strokes of luck. The devout vampire seemed like a good enough sort, but that meant she was a bit too easily swayed if the argument contained her goddess' name in it. As for the third, she seemed to be pretending to play mediator, and that kind of person usually gave Hector of all people the creeps. You could never really tell what was going on with these types, even if you had all the information... And they certainly had none of it.

It's a good thing Hector was no longer affected by poisons of any kind, or he'd be more than a little concerned about taking in drinks while in strange locales. Thankfully, he was a bit different from other vampires as well.

"I'm afraid it's a little more complicated than that. Your perimeter guard is a tad overzealous - the only discernible intelligence we have from the last party guided by Bonnie's grace here is that they were taken by surprise amid screams of terror. Suggesting a surprise attack, no distinction on the ones involved." The implications were ghastly at the best of times. There's good chance the devout one was not fully aware of the extent of the measures taken to safeguard the city... And any threat that seems to be severely lacking in identification suggests an inside job.

"And I would be remiss in my current responsibilities if I were not to ask what manner of outside threat would require such isolation."

Carnelian opens up a telepathic link with the others, explaining her knowledge of the vampires before them--and emphasising that Akhram was not to be trusted under any circumstances. The fanatic could be persuaded to their side, and Fuerme would back the winning horse--but Akhram was liable to snap and rage. Quite unlike Carnelian's modern self, but she knew what it was like to be that person. Maybe he'd get it into his head eventually.

"Then I thank you for the offer, Baron, and shall gladly take you up on it.  I believe this is the first time that we have met in person? And yourself, Duchess. But Fuerme... how long has it been?"

Really, the surprising thing was that they hadn't all met before, with their ages.

Decus tilted his head as his curiosity was piqued. "Oh hooo, a soiré you say? Well now, I could certainly be persuaded to hold off on beating ya'll senseless for your crimes here with a good party."
