Y'know if they keep it, and hey why not, they could do a similar 2d4 for Monks.
Maybe after that they could swing 6d2 for Barbarians too.

And then (1d20+1d12+1d8+1d6+1d4/1d6) for Wizards, which could totally be awesome depending on how you roll  :cool

The sky is the limit!

They've already posted a tweet-rata saying it isn't supposed to work that way.
Unfortunately at this time the PHB disagrees with them.

This is what happens when someone does something stupid, they should have just used a d12 or if some smartass was thinking double dice per level might be something to try, they should have worded it not to be based on per die but per level. IE expand 12 levels of Barbarian for 12d12+ConMod or 12 levels of UA Ranger for 24d6+ConMod.

Sorry if I misunderstood your post and you said exactly the same.
By RAW short rest allow you to regain Hit Dice (capital letters) plus Con mod.
For ranger it's up to (2d6+Con mod) multiplied by amount of levels he have.
So for first level ranger it's 2d6+Con mod, not 2x(d6+Con mod).

Both the document, and Mike Mearls confirm that each die is spent individually. The ranger applies his CON mod to every d6 spent on short rest healing. But this is 5E and everything is subject to changes...

So speaking of the finer pickings of a word, Action Boost is limited to once per turn and Ambuscade grants an extra turn. Fighter 17 / Ranger 1 gets four Attack Actions on the first round of an Encounter.

You mean action surge?  I didn't think that was even a point of contention.  A lot of 5e neat tricks revolve around things that are "per turn" and not "per round."  Ranger 1/Rogue X can pull off more than 1 Sneak Attack with Ambuscade too.

did anyone notice that they get proficiency in wisdom & dexterity saving throws? That's awesome for a first level dip.

Only if it's your first level though. Save proficiencies don't get transferred as a dip otherwise. Sort of why Mystic is considered very powerful as a dip (floating save proficiency is a class feature at a certain level, not a base feature of the class).

It's not a bad way to start off though.

((just re-read your post. You said it right))

It is nice. Choosing Third Eye gives you the floating bonus, 100ft Telepathy capable of telling a Dog eight times eight equals sixty four and they understand it (mindbroke), and I'm a huge fan of Third Eye for 30ft Blindsight (free) and Tremorsense (2/day). The Mind Thrust's ability to ignore Cover is nice through.

Crazy idea ... Dex 8 and Ambuscade.

This might be the only class ability
you could get away with so low Dex.
Have to use Wis for ranged, probably
go with Spell Sniper to get it going.

Is this too crazy?
I mean it can't multiclass, so it's ~simple.
