Tash is sitting by the fire, his heavy blade laid across his lap. His eyes dart out in the darkness, though his mind is irritably distracted.

Xar lies indolently in the soft glow of the fire, his head rested on his rolled-up bedroll.
His left foot rocks lazily as it rests on his raised knee while a large yawn escapes his mouth, punctuating the disinterested ambience surrounding him.

((please post your character names until I learn who everyone is :D ))

W E D G E sits in front of the fire daydreaming. His Scimitar resting on his lap casually. Wedge is young for a traveler. Barely 17 years of age, undoubtedly he has only made it this far due to his natural Minotaur resilience.
Suddenly his ear twitches. He stands up and looks out into the darkness.
After a moment he casually says to his companions " Didja hear dat'? " He looks to Tash and Xar curiously,... " F'hought I hurd sumthin out dar "

spot/listen (1d20+4=8, 1d20+4=16)
((cant remember if its darkvision or nightvision, but i do have one of them
also my Int is rather low, although I do have a nice wisdom. So I will be using some non-correct speach :D))

Cyrus instinctively ducks behind a snow drift (or maybe a rock, but he couldn't tell which) and tugs on the front of his hood, pulling it almost over his eyes when he notices light coming from the hole.  He looks curiously over to his strange companion, the large dog, as if asking whether or not this was really the place they should be.  He knew it took them far longer to get to this point than his companion predicted, and was now suspicious of whatever it was that already resided there.

"We are where we are supposed to be, let's go."  A very large armored vicious looking dog enters the circle of light provided by the fire.  He stops twenty feet away from the people sitting around it.

You hear thoughts in your minds that aren't your own.  "I am Tetch.  We are late but we are the ones you were sent to meet."

As Wedge first spots the dog he will instinctively grab for his trusty Scimitar. When he hears the voice inside his head he ducks down for a moment and quickly glances around. Cautiously he stands back upright. " W w.. Who said that? " he looks to his companions with wide eyes.
Still not drawing his weapon he sidesteps, carefully putting the fire between himself and the beast. His eyes trying to search the darkness for anyone else.
((obviously not putting it togather :D  <-- int 8 ))

Cyrus hesitantly follows Cujo into the light provided by the fire, and stands behind him after he addresses the group.  He keeps quiet himself, however, and almost hides behind Cujo.

Xar opens his eyes slowly and sits upright as the voice speaks to him. "Took ya long enough. Trouble on the way?" he asks in a slightly derisive tone, as he surveys the two newcomers with a smirk.

After Xar gets up and talks to the newcomers Wedge will relax. He lets out a deep exhale of relief and sits back down. He waves the dog and the man over to sit near the fire. " Here friends. Tha fires nice 'n warm "

Responding to his companion, almost ignoring the fact that others have stepped into the circle, Tash laughs; "Must have; new recruits are always so eager to get moving, can't imagine they'd be late.

So, what're your names? I'm Tash. Probably don't know it, but I'm a member of the Four Swords Gang, in case it helps. Nice to finally see you all."
Tash's voice has a gravelly, earthy low tone which seems at odds with the initial impression you get from him.

"Um, I'm Cyrus..." he says in a wavering voice.  Cyrus was unnerved by the mention of the 'Four Swords Gang,' which made it sound like even the people outside might even be scarier than the monsters.  After seeing the members of his group getting killed off or carried off one-by-one, he wasn't willing to trust anyone, and was wishing he was back in his sewer.  He knew it was a hopeless wish, but was better than thinking about what might have come of him if Tetch wasn't around.

Tetch's thoughts enter the minds of those around him.  "As I said, I am Tetch.  I am not a new recruit, I am returning from a mission and led many others out of the city.  Most did not make it, only Cyrus and my host survived."

Xar rises to his feet, readying his weapon on the way. "Well I 'ope ya not too tired from ya trek; we been killin' a bit too much time here waitin' for ya, eh?"
He rolls his head a few times and works his elbows, causing several bones to crick, before raising an eyebrow to the two newcomers. "Fighting fit and good to go, I 'ope?"

Remembering the passphrase, the large dog shakes its head.  "Seen any ghosts around here?"

Tash gives the dog a disparaging look. "Well shit, they're still using that password? God damn, a fresh one every now and again might make these damned meetings secure."

With a sigh, the strange, shirtless man stands, his heavy looking curved blade hanging in one hand. There's a tense moment, as his devious smile shines alongside his weapon, before he responds, "No, they only come out at midnight."

And just like that, he turns and starts walking. "Now cut the shadowy formality bullshit, we've got work to do."

Tash responds over his shoulder, "Aw come on Wedge, that isn't nearly the weirdest shit we've seen out here."

Cyrus looks around at the new group that he and Tetch have joined up with, waiting to follow along once the group starts moving.

As you roll away the flat stone covering the opening, a column of rank dusty air billows out with a whooshing sound. Tetch knows that his host's old wizard master had investigated this place in the past. So he must have covered the opening back up to prevent passing creatures from the waste from wandering in. The small cavern looks nondescript and natural, but turns after only a short distance so that vision further into it is obscured. The ceiling is low enough initially that the taller among you have to bend down to enter.
