Aether Gloves?
« on: January 14, 2017, 07:56:50 PM »
Has anyone ever heard of Aether Gloves? They're supposedly a pair of gloves that can be enchanted as a normal weapon; for unarmed fighting builds and whatnot.

I have a player who had them on his sheet and supposedly found them at one point in time in some source somewhere, but has never been able to find them again and never labeled the source. I know there's plenty of items that do this same thing but I'm rather curious myself if these are something that exist between D&D or PF.

Unless they were accidentally pulled from a non-d&d source without even noticing  :lmao

I've never heard of them, but there are a bunch of weapons that deal your unarmed damage or enhance your unarmed strike. Check out the Monk section and if you are using Pathfinder there are a couple more options like Brass Knuckles which are really just copypasta from d20 Modern. DDO also presented the idea of Handwraps.

I only found one hit on Google, showing them from Dreamscarred Press, in their "Mind Unveiled" book.  So it looks like 3rd party.
The actual link didn't load for me, but the Cached Link did.

Quote
Aether Gloves
These gloves are made from black leather bound with
extremely thin, psionically supercharged mithril. When
they are worn they glow slightly, their glow becoming
stronger the more powerful enhancements that are
contained within. Each glove can be enchanted as if it was
a weapon and lends its benefits to any and all unarmed
attacks the wearer makes. If the wearer has two aether
gloves, one on each hand, they give a +1 circumstance
bonus to attacks and damage with unarmed attacks.
Weak psychometabolism; ML 3rd; Craft Universal
Item, metaphysical claw, Price 1,000 gp each (500 gp
+ 40 xp).

If I read that right, the gloves can be enchanted differently, and unarmed attacks get the benefits of both.

Huh, that's cool.

I'm pretty tired (why can't I go to sleep?) but buy two and then use the weapon graft out of FF to turn them into natural weapons. Now you have +2 att/dmg for 2,000gp, can full-attack as normal using headbutts/knee bashes, then attack another four times from improved rapid strike, and every attack you make is basically double enchanted. I need a punch face joke about now.
