War of the Burning Sky: earring of the whispering winds

I am running the War of the Burning Sky 3.5 campaign and the PCs have just reached Adventure Six: Tears of the Burning Sky. On page 167 a magic item is mentioned, called the "Earring of the Whispering Winds" supposedly detailed in (see Appendix A). I cannot find this item in Appendix A nor can I find it anywhere else in the module.

Does anyone know where or what are the details of this item?

I tried some Google-fu but couldn't find a definite answer.  But I did come across a quick Reddit discussion.

It seems like they're earing that take the place of communicators so the party can stay in contact.  Probably the spell "Whispering Wind" in item form.

Though I did see a mention of them being able to detect truth from a lie, 3 times a day.
