Pantheon for my campaign.
« on: August 04, 2018, 02:41:20 PM »
In my campaigns I run (3.5 before anyone asks),  instead of having one overdeity in charge of a group of deities, I have a council of deities (think a senate).  I already have the council made, but I would like some ideas for some deities who aren't part of the council.  My world has been referred to as a "Wreck it Ralph" style world, so just about anything goes.  Any ideas?

It would help to know what's in the pantheon before replying, since that tells us where there are gaps.

I notice that there isn't a single god of animals or beasts. Maybe the make up their own separate celestial body, like the Animal Court in Titan?

Sounds interesting, I like it.

I have active godslayers in my campaign so the numbers change occasionally.

How many Gods total are you looking for?  Have you worked out an origin/family tree?  You could always fill in relatives.

I'm not looking for a set limit.  The deities I listed off are Greater deities (divine rank 16 and higher), I am looking to make some deities of smaller stature from the strong to the ones that are just patron saints of something (i.e.: Brother Tucker, he's the patron saint of shocks and burns).
As for how they are chosen, some can be born a god, some are transferred from other worlds, and yet others earn their deity hood through great deeds/accomplishments (either they receive it magically or it is bestowed upon them by the council).  The latter allows players to have the goal in mind to become a god.

Not really.  I mean Princess Starfury and King Clever Circuit are the same species and they dated once, but nothing but war came of it.

Bol'shaya Mama is basically a goddess of baby mamas (if she's not pregnant, she's usually carrying around a recently born child), so I'm sure one or more of her many thousands of children could have the divine spark.

So is God just a title or can you be as powerful as one without officially being a deity?

Divinity is something you earn or are born into and sometimes are prayed into (If enough people pray to Bob the Farmer, whether he be real or not, he gains a divine spark, and if he wasn't real, existence) in my campaign.  Most beings of that level of power are gods, but there are being of a different kind of power who are godslayers.

They mainly join the the side of the enemy of the council, then they train to get levels of godslayer.  If they have any divinity, they forfeit it because you cannot be a godslayer and a god.
