I used to think Morgoth was really really cool. I mean, he is, but the whole stereotypical-Sephiroth-is-teh-coolest style thing was a bit over the top. Anyway, so I was using Melkor and Morgoth as screen names for a while, but they started having a tendency to be already taken. Bauglir, however, a name for the same character that was used only once, in the final chapter of the Silmarillion, is much less commonly taken, and by the time I stopped villain-worshiping the character, the name had stuck.

As for the avatar. I have been using an image of a Geass (link for those of you who are not into teh animes) that I shopped back when I was similarly obsessed with Code Geass. Last year, the holidays were approaching, so I decided I needed a red and green color scheme. I had just caught up with Homestuck, and decided that I would get the green from the special effects that accompany some of the characters, and that was that. I didn't quite get the timing on the animation right, but it looks terrible at the speed it'd be at to more accurately mimic Homestuck.

No, I completely get where you're coming from. I had similar opinions before I got bored enough for a week-long binge, and the way the whole thing is structured it's impossible to get into at this point without the dedication to start at the beginning and go through it fairly thoroughly. Especially because you don't get the speculation time people did as it was happening, which means you don't have the people with too much free time pointing tiny details out before they become important, which in turn meant that there was another couple of weeks after I "finished" when I'd read somebody's discussion about something and go "Oh, now it makes sense."

Basically, from a comprehensibility standpoint, Homestuck is constructed terribly. And the fanbase, while not as extreme as Touhou's, isn't much more than an order of magnitude away from that, and the use of common English phrases as key parts of the story (such as troll, like you mentioned) more than compensates for that in terms of making it irritating to non-fans.

The problem is now that I'm part of that base, these are all things that draw me in. It's all so fascinating.

So let me tell you about Homestuck...

Actually, I don't think I can do that without coming off as a ridiculous fanboy, because at the moment that is an accurate description of me. Still, really good stuff if you're a fan of weird time shit and messing around with the medium as part of the storytelling.

Y'know, for those of you who aren't already familiar/irritated with it/its fandom.

Kuroimaken is either the Last Son of Krypton, or an amazing teller of stories. Either way, I am impressed.

Well, the way we usually play it is that you just do it in the order you prefer at any given level. So you can use the class level to qualify for the feat or vice versa, depending on what your idea for a build needs. At any rate, sounds like the question has been answered.

Gaming Advice / [3.5] Qualifying for a Prestige Class - Feat vs Level Order
« on: December 09, 2011, 12:40:40 AM »
So, I'm aware of the leveling guidelines in the PHB that spell out the order in which the various facets of gaining levels actually take place. The important bit is that you gain feats after you choose your class level. I've realized that my games always have let people choose feats before class levels (allowing you to take a feat at level 6, for instance, and use it to qualify for a PrC) or vice versa (if you need a particular class feature to qualify for a feat), and I'm wondering if that's a houserule or something that has a legitimate ruling anywhere.

So I finally registered an account here. I don't plan on just dropping in to ask a few D&D questions and then never posting again, having taken advantage of your kindness, but I'm currently wrapped up in a homebrew system, and until that's presentable I probably won't post much since I just won't be thinking much about anything gaming-related that's relevant to the board here. Still, I hear there's a PbP coming up that I want to be a part of, I do have D&D questions, and to be honest I've missed the place a bit and so will do what I can to contribute, where I see an opportunity.
