Adventurer's League Bladesinger
« on: May 13, 2017, 11:08:30 AM »
Hey guys. I'm looking at a new schedule and for now, joining an AL game with people I don't know looks like my only option.

I'm the type of player who's played for many years, so there isn't a set type that I'll restrict myself to playing. That being said, I have always been described as a tactician type of player.

I want to try out a Bladesinger. I think they look kind of cool, and although I've never been a big fan of elves, I have an idea for an arrogant noble elf, wielding a rapier, who's been disgraced in his community, and forced into adventuring for reasons he'll never share with any of these lesser races.

Here's my build idea, and I welcome any improvements/changes/suggestions:

8/17/14/16/10/8

Level 4: resilient DEX.
Level 8: DEX 20
Level 12 & 16: INT 20

Let's be honest, I'm not getting to the level 19 bump in AL.

What do you guys think?

Will you be able to use a bladesinger in AL? I thought most UA material was off the boards, and even DMG stuff. They may have changed this ruling though, since AL is the perfect place to to test this sort of stuff out.

Bladesinger is SCAG, not UA.  It's frequently used for low level characters in AL because iirc AL lets you retrain characters up to a certain point.  It's incredibly survivable at low levels and then players switch after the initial stages of the character.

Oooo, I hadn't considered that.

Is the DMG Eladrin good enough for AL?
Eladrin > High , if Misty Step > cantrip.

Int +2 , Int +2 , then an interesting feat that fixes a party specific playstyle problem.
Cleric Arcana dip 1 is possible, but the Wis 13 squeezes any build.
You're playing a Wizard that's not quite so bad if stuck in combat.
Res Dex < Res Con < Warcaster, but still why the frontlining.
Bladesinger already has a conc check booster.

Who/what is the rest of the party?
Your codpiece is a mimic.

It's an AL group I haven't been to yet. I have no idea what's in the group.
