Right now I'm watching Nadia: Secret of Blue Water, and I'm approaching the infamous Island Arc.

Currently I finished Episode 18, and I'm averaging about 3-5 episodes per day.  That said, Episodes 23-34 are noted for Hideo Anno's absence and a resulting dive in quality across the board.  I've seen folks on anime message boards advising viewers to skip all but one or two episodes (30 and 31 notably) and restart at 35.

So far I'm really, really liking this show.  I just love the plot, the characters, the music, and even the animation is remarkable for its time (1990) and feels more "alive" than some series today.  That said, I stopped watching the West Wing on Season 4, knowing that post-Sorkin it becomes a different show entirely and wanted to keep my memories of it positive.

I heard that the island arc is nearly all "filler" and doesn't advance the plot in any noticeable way (much like all filler) save for a few short scenes scattered about.

To my fellow Nadia fans on Min-Max, what should I do?  Skip the Island and Africa arcs entirely?  Only watch a few?  Watch as many as I can until I get sick of it and skip right to Episode 35?  Or some other course of action?

I don't know this anime specifically, but wheneve there's filler, what i normally do is watch it all until i get sick of it and can't take it anymore. At least i can say i have firsthand knowledge on whether the filler is really as bad as everyone says it is or not.

Finished watching this show the other day.  It was really good, enough that I wrote up a review of it on my blog.

Also, I'm multi-tasking with a Vampire the Masquerade IRC game as I'm typing this.  Can you dig that?

So remember how originally in Fate/Stay Night Saber wanted to get the grail not for a wish but simply because it was her life's main quest?

Heh, in my 1 on 1 Old School D&D game with Raineh Daze her paladin PC's character design is pretty much a dark and sinister-looking Saber:

Dark Saber is original canon from the final Fate/Stay Night route.

There's also

Type-Moon seems to love to reuse their characters more than even CLAMP, wonder why that is...

61 straight episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender.  *sleepy log*  Might choose another cartoon or anime to "reset" my biological clock.

I really enjoyed Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon.  The last 2ish episodes of the season were kind of random (in a "suddenly BOSS BATTLE" kind of way), but the early-mid episodes were fantastic.  Might be a bit fan-servicey to some peoples' tastes.

Food Wars is hilarious.  It was highly recommended by 2 of my favorite YouTube personalities (Jesse Cox and Dodger, in case anyone is curious), so I had to give it a shot.  The way they pitched it was "Aspiring chef makes food so good, people's clothes explode off.  Created by a guy who used to draw hentai porn."

Also been re-watching Last Airbender.  I never realized how often they re-used the same voice actors.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

anidb.net is pretty good for that.

You can enter the site, search for the anime, it will give you its rating, which i blindly trust, since i can't even recall an instance where i watched an anime and disagreed with its rating, and it also gives you a list of fansubs that have or are translating it, as well as how far into translating it they are. MOST fansubs also have a userpage with a list of all the animes they have translated, as well as some more information about where you can go about downloading said animes from.

I always go there, if i can't find an anime on nyaa.eu or fansubber.com.br. Of course, being Brazilian i'll prefer portuguese subtitles, if i know i can get them on acceptable quality, but if it's not possible, then... eh, i read & write so much in english there's not that much difference anymore.

Another useful tip, if the anime is relatively popular and it's on crunchyroll/funimation, then horriblesubs.info will have it available with english subs. But checking on anidb first will always tell you who has it and how far they've gotten.

Food Wars is conveniently on Crunchyroll.

So, Overlord seemed like a SAO/Log Horizon clone at first sight, but I decided to give it a go and it's turning out quite interesting.

Basic story is that there was this super popular MMO that lasted for 12 years and is closing down, but a diehard player chooses to stay logged in to the end in the super guild base they had built, only the guardian NPCs his guild had created to keep him company as the other players had all moved on to other stuff. Seems like they were max level and had all the top gear, to the point nobody had managed to successfully storm their guild base, their top guard NPCs having never seen any action.

Then when the hour of shutdown comes all computer menus disappear and the NPCs suddenly become sentient. The player can also now feel stuff he couldn't before like smell and touch.

And the world around the guild base is competely different than it was before.

Since he had no friends nor family in RL, the protagonist decides he may as well stay around there and conquer everything.

Oh, and his character is basically a lich and most of his harem guardian NPCs are monstrous humanoids of some kind since that was the theme the guild was was running with. Basically he's playing leader of team evil.

And he's also kinda of a D&D caster in the sense that he seems to have a bazillion different spells.

Finished Future Dairy today (subtitled) and I think redial should have been made as the 27th episode but w/e. It was sort of addictive and they differently kept things interesting, but I suppose that's the nature of the story. *wink*

Good series, I suggest checking it out.

Mirai Nikki is pretty awesome, Yuno is the quintessential psychotic Yandere. Whenever someone asks me to explain what Yandere means, i refer them to this anime. Pretty much the best example of the stereotype there is.

So, has anybody seen DBZ: the Revival of Frieza yet?  What did people think of it?

I'm probably going to see it myself when I get the opportunity.  I've been on a hiatus from the show for years, although this has motivated me to come back into the fold.
